Every time I saunter into Pavillions it is such a hoot; after all, I can't wait to see what sh** the cashiers, security guards, and management staff are going to step in next.
The problem is that between the lot of them the sum total of their IQ is about 2.
Today, in spite of past posts about inappropriate employee conduct, one cashier chose to insult customers by inferring that they hadn't paid for all the items they consumed (say what?) on the property.
Only a total idiot would venture where he dared go!
This employee usually mans a cash register (during irregular hours) half-way between the take-out food counter and the Starbucks Cafe on the Santa Monica Boulevard side of the building.
I should preface this post be noting that a posse of regulars from the neighborhood usually take a jog into the WeHo store - bright and early at the crack of dawn -to snatch up a pastry or two and steaming cup of java or tea.
It's important to note that when the early morning shoppers pluck up the items, they pay for the purchases right-off-the-bat, then setttle in to munch on their goodies and read the morning paper.
About an hour or so later, the clueless cashier I aforementioned, usually saunters in and opens up his cash register after-the-fact.
Get this!
As he traipses around the cafe to do a quick clean-up, he spies the emptry wrappers next to the customers - and without thinking a beat - assumes that they have stolen the items they purchased earlier at the check out counter up front.
It amazes me that a man (who is fortish or so) would jump to those conclusions - in spite of the fact - he wasn't on duty when the customers first dropped in to the store to rustle up the goodies.
How can an employee infer a person has committed a crime of theft - if they are not in possession of all the facts - or were even an eyewitness to an event that took place before they were on duty?
Notwithstanding, if the Pavillions loser wasn't certain as to whether the items were paid for or not, he could alert security so they could check the video-taped footage in the manager's office upstairs for proof.
Or in the alternative, ask the cashiers in charge earlier, if they recall the customer paying for the groceries.
And, 'ya know what?
Just betcha - customers wise to the stupidity that goes down regularly at that Pavillions location probably retained their receipts ( if only to embarass the hell out of any employee who ventured forth with their absurd misplaced accusations).
Notwithstanding, because the security guards are constantly tailing the shoppers (and watching 'em like a hawk) it is highly doubtful any thief capable of slight-of-hand would be able to maneuver a theft in view of all the mind-boggling (excessive) surveillance going down here day in and day out.
Duh!
I pray to the Lord that I will be in the grocery store when thep iece of ka-ka I referred to above, falsely accuses a shopper - because frankly - I think it's high time that a consumer or two sued Pavillions for acting on wild unfounded suspicions (and paranoia) that conjures up constant harassment, acts of discrimination, and continued violations of shopper's rights.
At this juncture, I highly recommend that management start requiring that potental employees take a course on the Bill of Rights and the 1st Amendment (U.S. Constitution) since it is evident that they will continue to trample on customer's rights until its hammered home that their conduct is highly illegal and will no longer be tolerated.
Pavillions used to be a class act.
Now, the grocer, is a disgrace to the neighborhood!
