Sarah Palin...racked up big bucks on shopping spree! Repubs paid through nose...

Republicans had designs on Palin!

She's gonna put us in the poor house!

When the scandal brought last year about Sarah Palin's celebrated make-over (courtesy of the party) - it was assumed that a fashion expert keen on the Republican "image" - rustled up a few select wardrobe pieces for the campaign trail (at which point the parcels were summarily delivered to her Hotet suite in NYC).

On the contrary!

According to John McCain's campaign Manager - Steve Schmidt - Palin was under the impression she was given carte blanche to zip around town to all the toniest boutiques and simply charge away at whim without any budget constraints.

"If Palin's spending on clothes had been  accurately reported during the campaign, the country would have been in an uproar," he sniped in so many words.

At a recent chi chi soiree at the Cut steakhouse( Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel)  - where celebrated guests included Dolly Parton, Governor Schwarzenegger, Willie Brown and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd - everyone was all ears when he spilled the beans on Palin on the heels of spiteful comments she made in her book about McCain's right-hand man.

According to Schmidt, her account of things was 100 percent fiction!

Maybe the former ice Queen should be penning dime-store novellas and purple prose?

"She would go into a store, buy everything in sight, and have the bill sent to the Republican National Committee.

"I stopped counting at $250,000.00."

If the clothes were "borrowed" (as the party claimed in their defense) - and turned over to a "charity" -  then some lucky street folks are looking pretty spiffy on the mean streets of the city these days, eh?

Lush scandal kept under wraps!

Michael Phelps...documentary on U.S hero! Borres Productions tracks Olympic Gold Medalist...

Swimming stud - Michael Phelps - chose Borres Productions of Bridgeport to produce a documentary on his childhood years and rise to fame as an Olympic Gold Medalist at the Beijing games.

“The Michael Phelps Story: The Making of a Swimming Icon”  boasts the talents of award-winning Frank Borres of Borres Productions (who has written, co-produced and narrated the documentary).

Phelps has won 14 Olympic gold medals (including 8 at the Beijing 2008 games as millions of fans cheered the U.S. born swimmer on from the frenzied sidelines around the globe via satellite broadcast).”

This  is not Phelps' first collaboration with Borres Productions, however.

The creative team at Borres created  graphics and marketing productions for Octagon (who represents Michael Phelps).

The Phelps video chronicles the life & times of the remarkable swimmer and includes  interviews with people that influenced the young athlete (coach Bob Bowman; mother Debbie; sisters Whitney and Hilary; his supportive agent Peter Carlisle; and journalists such as Bob Costas and Paul McMullen)

No word on whether the insightful bio-doc will also explore the swimmer's recent brush with the law in respect to two D.U.I.'s and confessions about recreational use of marijuana which caused a bit of an uproar a few months ago in the glare of the sports arena and around the Nation.

Walmart has entered into a contract agreement to sell the video in their outlets and online at their site Walmart.com

Barack Obama...Scott Brown challenges Prez to basketball match!

How about a flex competition?
(oil up those dudes!)

The health care issue has dragged on for too long.

Maybe it's time to settle the score with the Republicans the old-fashiioned way, eh?

Scott Brown has challenged the Preisdent to a two-on-two basketball game to 21 points.

According to the Senator - who just picked up the slack in Massachusetts - it may be a great ice-breaker.

That's the problem wth laying your cards down on the table, Barack;  the oppostion doesn't have a poker face to deal with.

Even still, the Commander-in-Chief may give the once studly (former Cosmopolitan nude lay-out model) a run for his money.

Although the Prez may come off a bit goofy on his bicycle when he hits the trails at the crack of dawn - in contrast - his moves are pretty smooth on the court.

Obama is pretty sly - which fathoms into determining how he landed in the White House - in spite of the fact the well-oiled machinery of the Clinton clan was breathing down his neck on the election trail.

"We'll be having our meeting on the court instead of  in the caucus room," Brown chuckled.

Senator Brown intends to pair up with his daugher (Ayla) and invites Barack to rustle up the female of his choice.

Barack better choose wisely, though;  after all, Brown's daughter is a scholarship player for Boston University.

Play ball!

Go get 'em Prez!

Osama bin Laden...ass backwards terrorist! Screws loose loser needs therapy...

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence (and/or common sense) must have done a double-take this morning if they caught sight of the report on Osama bin Laden and his latest absurd smoke-screen tactics!
Allegedly, Mr. Laden (!) switched gears this past week, in a sinister bold-faced effort to stab Americans in the heart, when he announced to a stunned world that the U.S.(and a handful of her allies) were responsible for global warming.

"The only way to prevent disaster is to boycott U.S. goods and stop using the dollar," the old goat herder hissed from his palatial digs in the impoverished environs of the outer perimeters of an unidentified war-torn nation.

The mad-man not only underscored what an idiot he is, but stressed the lengths he and his merry band of bombers will go, to justify their flimsy reasons for blowing up the Twin Towers (911).

For starters, his wild notion that killing innocent folks is okay willy-nilly on behalf of a convoluted cause (yet to be determined ) underscored what an idiot monster he truly is.

Now, it appears that he is under the mistaken immpression that citing climate change will somehow justify a full frontal attack on the U.S.

I guess that a slow death by global warming is more sinister (and heinous) a crime than one where the individual gets blown up instantaneously and feels no "pain" or suffers any consequence in the immediate aftermath.

In retrospect, it appears that Osama bin Laden is keenly aware that his 911 actions were totally unacceptable in a civilized society (where murder is just that: murder) - and for good reason - is  now back-paddling to find ways to justify the cold-blooded killings which set the global community on fire.

Does Osama honestly expect us to believe that he cares one iota about global warming?

Or, that he would honestly boycott the purchase of  U.S. weapons, to force America's hand  in respect to the green house effect complained of now?

Osama has been in the desert too long, and his brain has turned  to mush, as a consequence.

Bottom line, if the truth be known, Osama and his cohorts are just  plain jealous of North Americans and their consumer lifestyle.

It's not America's fault that Osama bin Laden was born ugly, in a skin he's prefer to be of the silky-white kind  (and into a culture - and homeland - which few find appealing in the global scheme of things).

Osama bin Laden is facing centuries-old bad karma.

He should pack it  in and call it a day; otherwise, they'll continue to be numbered.

Osama bin Laden is welcome to conjure up all the sorry excuses he wants to try to convince a disbelieving world that he actually cares about human-kind (or the environment).

The fool must think Americans have stupid written all over their foreheads.

Not!

President Barack Obama...partners with YouTube for fireside chat! Q & A with head honcho February 1st...

In spite of the fact the State of the Union address on Wednesday appeared to underscore to many political pundits, Republicans, and Barack Obama critics (and foes) that the President fell short - his rallying team  insisted in an e-mail communication to me this evening that undoubtedly the universe was unfolding as it should (as my own Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau once eloquently noted in an hour of defeat).

Why?

After the speech (in which the President laid out his priorities for jump-starting job creation, fighting to restore economic security to American families, and changing the way business is done in Washington) he met with Republicans at their retreat and answered questions directly for about sixty minutes.

In his down-to-earth communication to me - David Axelrod (one of Obama's Senior Advisors) - noted that the pow-wow was an honest and unscripted discussion where the President took questions and concerns seriously, acknowledged where his opponents made valid points, and explained genuinely where he felt they were wrong.

In the final analysis, Axelrod excitedly concluded that this event - which was triggered with little fanfare at the offset with no ulterior motive - was something few Americans thought conceivable in American politics.

"It was a real discussion with honest disagreements about the challenges Americans and their leaders face," he asserted in so many words.

Citizens who would like to catch the"historic" event - which was recorded on video for posterity - are invited to surf over to  http://www.whitehouse.gov/ where the footage is currently online for viewing.
"The President talked about how politicians of both parties need to work together to bring change to Washington. But changing our politics is not just about Washington. It’s about  every American citizen, knowing that government is listening and that you can hold your government accountable," Axelrod's army of suits sincerely stressed.

In an interesting twist (a sign of the times?) Axelrod also announced that the White Houe has partnered with YouTube to give Americans the opportunity to ask questions of the President.

Citizens are invited to "ask whatever you want" or just vote on other questions that fellow citizens have submitted.

The President will answer some of the queries in a unique event on Monday @ http://www.whitehouse.gov/

In conclusion, Barack Obama's staff noted that if changing politics were easy, it would have been done a long time ago.

"I hope we can all join the President in helping make that change happen."

Dallas International Film Festival...Mayor Leppert & wife Laura honorary chairs!

Adrien Brody big hit @ Dallas Film Festival last spring!

The Dallas Film Society (DFS) zipped off a press release to me this week to announce that Mayor Tom Leppert and (wife) Laura Leppert have been named Honorary Chairs for the Dallas International Film Festival (2010).

Mayor Leppert and his wife have wholeheatedly backed the prestigious film festival since its inception in 2007 - which proved to be valuable to the inaugural edition  - and a professionally-run fest sure to gather steam in coming years (with much to contribute to the industry as well).

Leppert joined Governor Rick Perry, Peter Bogdanovich, Ross Perot, Jr. and others at last year's Texas Day celebration of film at upscale Victory Park which served as a culmination of the 2009 event (which moi also attended and reported on daily).

Except for Peter Bogdanovich, who turned out to be a suffering arrogant son-of-a-bit**, the jaunt out to the desert proved to be a very rewarding and fruitful one.

Valentine's Day...Castro Street passionate about romance! Studly cupid sets his sights...

Although the much over-rated (ha!) Valentine's Day is two weeks off, romantic studs in the Castro District are on the prowl for a passionate love affair this spring already, you betcha.

If the window displays on Castro Street are any indication, expect a studly Cupid to set his sights on some lucky (lucky as in getting laid fellas) hot-blooded male come February 13th (Midnight) and remain a star-crossed lover throughout the celebrated day (when the romantically-inclined are bound to splurge on some chocolates, cologne, (an engagement ring!), or a bottle of bubbly expected to make the object of their desire light-headed (at which point any self-respecting wolf will move in for the kill).

If there is a "real" dude to match up with one of the two featured in the Video (click on link below) gift-wrap right away, please!

The Task...rivetting first-ever all-Black cast performance @ Castillo Theatre! Heiner Muller play...

In NYC, "The Task" is packing stage-show buffs in @ the Castillo Theatre.

The thought-provoking production unveils the promise of revolution in Jamaica in 1799, according to the producers, which has been buoyed up by a talented theatrical troupe garnering rave reviews since day one.

The well-received piece was written by acclaimed German writer Heiner Muller.

The timeless themes of love, loss and betrayal collide in this rivetting drama.

The production runs through most of February at the Casillo Theatre in downtown Manhattan.

Director Gabrielle L. Kurlander continues to stretch the boundaries of political theatre with this first-ever all-Black-American cast.

Fred Newman's avant-garde songs are a plus, as are Billy Taylor's gospel, R & B classics and rap tunes.

For those interested in thought-provoking, investigative and inspirational theater - "The Task "- is the night of theatre many have been pining for.

Respected  Dancer/choreographer - Desmond Richardson - hailed the extraordinary cast and excitedly gushed about":

"The Task weaves an interesting tale that pulls the audience into a fantastic web of discovery."

A handful of notables in the show-biz arena have responded with similar accolades.

"The adaption and lyrics by Fred Newman are excellent and accomplished. The music complements Newman's lyric like the best of Weill & Brecht."
(Woodie King, Jr.)

"Powerful performance! The cast was so talented and message was timely."
(Joan Walrond)

"The acting was energetic and creative interpretation of the play makes me want to read it. Made me think about liberation on many levels.
(Carol Greenland)

"I will highly recommend this play to all my friends."

Hurt Locker & District 9...DVD releases! Films worth catching by the homefires...

For film buffs who prefer to chug-a-lug a brewskie and rustle up amply-buttered  popcorn at home - as they settle in for a DVD adventure between the sheets or by a crackling fire - there is good news!

A bevy of feature films - in a myriad of genres - have been released this week on DVD.

A handful, listed below - are not only fresh out of the movie theatres - but snapped up prestigious film awards around the country in recent weeks (Golden Globes, New York Film Critics, LA Film Critics).

I'm giving the nod to the following offerings to spring the hard-earned cash on:

District 9

A Sci-Fi thriller (Directed by Neill BlomKamp) with some imaginative high-tech ideas.

Special effects are spectacular and the film moves along at a fast clip with believable dialogue and characterizations that are well-fleshed out.

Inglourious Basterds

Quentin Tarrantino's big budget Brad Pitt starrer knocked me out.

Here, Tarrantino establishes that he can play with the big boys in Hollywood, though he'd prefer to go the off-beat route and implant his own individual style along the way.

Pitt is surprisingly good in this long but entertaining film.

A bit of violence may have audiences turning away from the screen for a moment or two.

The Hurt Locker:

A flawed piece of work about highly-specialized bomb squads in Iraq (directed by Kathryn Bigelow aka former Mrs. James Cameron who has won directing kudos for this project).

A gritty thought-provoking film with a stellar soundtrack and top-notch acting by all the players.

San Francisco...gay hate protest downtown! God hates America...

Gay hate strikes romantic climbs of San Francisco!

Just yesterday, the Federal court case regarding same-sex marriage winded down.

The Judge presiding over the case intends to review all the legal briefs, testimony, and documentary evidence in the next couple of weeks - prior to closing arguments - slated for March (2010) at the downtown Courthouse.

On the heels of this phase of the legal proceedings,  a nasty posse of anti-gay protesters sparked up a lot of anger (and controversy) this morning,  when they waved inflammatory signs and taunted passers-by (and motorists innocently driving by on Market Street).

One sign read:  God hates America.

I scrambled off the streetcar I was riding on and dashed to the center meridian to capture the hateful demonstration on HD Video.

Gay Hate Protest
(captured on HD Video January 28th/2010/San Francisco)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1zU-5U87G0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-FZgmY4T64
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GggSK0D0Wlo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLaeiJ0BF4s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErHoOWlwSxI

Many tourists were shocked to witness the shameful conduct of this rag-tag group of gay-bashers.

"I can't believe this is happening in San Francisco," one Europeana traveller lamented.

In retrospect, it appears that Prop 8 supporters have rustled up a lot of hatred toward gays (in addition to the fears they are spreading about the potential dangers of gay marriage).

Charges, for example, that allowing same-sex marriage would lead to the sodomization of young boys (and a desire by some to marry their pets) are outrageous (for starters).

These individuals are supposed to actually be God's children?

Poster gal for same-sex marriage!

Brad Pitt...bouncing back to Jennifer Anniston? Jolie seeks stud service elsewhere...

Angelina ruffled Brad's manhood!

On the heels of the frenzied gossip over the alleged break-up of Brangelina (ball-buster Jolie apparently cheated on the sexist man alive which caused the split) "insiders" "in the know" are touting Brad's reunion with Jennifer Anniston (surely you remember that mousey little broad with the ditzy personality who once starred on Friends).

According to individuals close to the winsome-twosome, once Brad and Jolie resolve the issues regarding the custody of their children, a potentially-messy financial entanglement (and so forth and so on), the studly wimp will be back in the smothering arms of Anniston.

In fact, some tongue-waggers are asserting that once the strangle-hold Jolie has on Brad is released, they'll resume where they left off and publicly acknowledge their undying lover for each other.

Makes 'ya want to puke, doesn't it?

In my opinion, if Brad skulks back to Anniston, he'll underscore what a loser he is (in the romance and relationship department, for sure).

Setting his sights on Jolie origiinally, bedding her - and setting up house thereafter - stressed what a conquering stud he could be.

It was a ballsy move, after all.

But, in retrospect, it appears that the strident (territorial) sex goddess managed to serve up his manhood on a silver platter to nibble on at her whim.
No man should put up with that.

Wishy-washy Anniston is just a stab at getting back to normalcy.

Just betcha that if you plopped down for a chat with Brad he'd bore you to tears.

Maybe he and Jennifer deserve each other.

Great eye candy, yes!

Although the lights appear to be on - on the other hand - looks like no one is at home.

What Brad needs is a good fu** to get the lead out.

Amen!

Sloppy seconds!

San Francisco...nasty sewage pollution spewing out of Mayor's manhole! Civic Center (January 27th/2010)...

Different kind of man hole on Gavin's mind!

OMG!

In spite of the fact Gavin Newsom boasts that he is one of the only Green Mayors in the country who makes a difference on the environmental battlefield - today - the hens  came home to roost.

The wet behind-the-ears (naive) politico hasn't even bothered to take a glance out of a City Hall window lately to check the State of his fiefdom.

In the event the lanky scandal-ridden Mayor perchance had of taken a a gander out of a squeaky-clean window at City Hall  this morning, the sight on a busy city street fronting on Civic Center may have shocked the light-headed golden boy a tad.

For example, when I strode down Market Street to take in a couple of tourist hang-outs in Union Square, I was so horrified to spot nasty sewage spewing out of a manhole, that I stopped dead in my tracks.

Not in San Francisco; tell me it ain't so!

Here is the evidence of the awful truth:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5rjlXKJHi0

Stop the twittering dude, and hob-nobbing at social hubs around the World-Wide-Web on the backs of cash-strapped taxpayers (and in the alternative roll up your sleeves and get a little grunt work done).

Do you want  San Francisco to become a third-world industrial city, Sir?

The ball is in your court!

San Francisco...Harvey Fierstein kvetches in Fiddler on Roof! 4 star production...

Oh, that Harvey Feinstein is such a ham, isn' he?

One minute, he's garnering accolades for a bang-on characterization on the old boob tube.

The next, Mr. Feirstein has 'em rolling in the aisles when he tries his acting chops in an off-beat feature film role.

When I passed the marquee on Market Street announcing that the celebrated award-winning triple-threat (singing, dancer, actor) was stepping into the role of a main character in the popular Broadway musical - Fiddler On the Roof - my knee-jerk reaction was swift-and -severe.

Oy veh!

That ham.

The secret was definitely out:

Harvey is in San Francisco and about to rustle up a powerhouse of entertainment (and much-deserved applause) in his latest head-scratching incarneration on the West Coast stage.

In fact, when I spied the excited throngs hopping off the trolley and streaming out of Bart (the public transport system under Market Street), I whipped out my camera to catch the electricity in the air that sparked the mood of theatre-goers headed into the lobby for a cocktail or two before last curtain call (Matinee).

HD Video / Golden Gate Theatre

A perennial hit since it first opened in 1964 - Fiddler - has enjoyed critical acclaim for bringing to the stage a poignant story about the enduring bonds of the family.

Now, the national touring production of this timeless musical brings the wit and wisdom of  Tevye and his family to audiences throughout the United States with the reproduction of Jerome Robbins' famous masterpiece.

Harvey Fierstein stars as the iconic milkman (Tevye).

San Francisco audiences will undoubtedly be on the edge of their plush seats at the Golden Gate Theatre on one of those rare opportunities when they'll be able to catch the Tony Award-winning actor inhabit one of his favorite meaty roles.

Theatre critics have hailed the musical stage production as a timeless classic.

During the course of the rousing, heartwarming score, music-lovers will delight to renditions of popular show-stoppers such as:

"Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset,"

Creation...dozing off in Movie Theatre embarrassing! Darwin theory intrigues...

Evolution vs. Divinity

Over the past ten days, the weather has been particularly disagreeable, for this time of year in San Francisco.

On a handful of occasions, I woke up shivering in the middle of the night due to the frosty night air (a post on poorly maintained hotels is on the horizon), and was drenched to the bone because of torrential rains which swept in off the bay without much warning (the only thing I hate more than sudden bursts of rain is a five dollar umbrella snatched up last-minute which I usually lose two hours later or nearly get poked in the eye with when a strong gust of air blows it inside out).

Yes, I also fell victim to a bout of chills, too.

For this reason, my doctor prescribed an antibiotic, vicodin, and a potent cough syrup to quell the storm raging inside of me.

There has been a fall-out in other respects as well.

Because I am not one to rely on drugs as a cure-all for  this 'n that - I have little resistance to their persuasive powers, and hence, end up dozing off into a deep slumber now and then.

At night in my cozy bed - during the fJay Leno show - that's A-okay.

Comes with the territory!

But, when I am at the movies?

Last night was one of those unfortunate occasions when I was weaker than my foe.

Shortly after I handed an usher my ticket for "Creation" - the new release on Charles Darwin - I glided into my plush theatre seat enthused about the celluloid possibilities.

Dashed hopes and good intentions!

Just after the credits rolled to a close, and the first lush scene sprang to life in all its glory on the silver screen, I slipped away into dreamland.

I was out cold until the main character( Darwin) uttered his last words in the final scene.

At that juncture, I was wide awake, and found myself following every last crumb offered up (which consisted of a long crawl of credits and a score that was heaven to the ears).

As I reflected on the humor of it all, I suddenly recoiled in horror, a tad.

What if I snored?

OMG!

How embarrassing.

Of course, because I've never heard myself sleep, I don't know whether I do or don't.

If so, I pray fellow film buffs will be more forgiving than moi.

When I was quite a bit younger - and lovers threw themselves at my feet (oh yeah!) - I actually ended a great relationship with someone I adored.

Why, pray tell?

Their snoring was horrific; so much so,that  I couldn't fall back to sleep when they woke me up in the middle of the night time and time again.

I distinctly recall that Ann Landers once noted to one of her readers - who agonized over a snoring issue - that the problem occurred due to the position they were inclined to sleep in.

"Just give your boyfriend a shove. Once they adjust in bed,  the snoring will stop."

I tried that - but the wild animal sounds not only continued - but got louder and more violent in nature.

Nuff said.

For a moment, just before I shuffled on out, I considered hatching a plot to sneak back into the Theatre for the next screening (sans ticket, of course).

Just dash into the restroom, hang out in the cubicle 'til everyone is seated ,and sneak in later after the first preview has started up.

But I scratched that scandalous notion; after all, I've gotten so famous that people recognize me on sight (especially those pimply-faced ushers who tend to be sharp as a tack).

Before you can say "gossip monger" the word would be out about me uptown, downtown, and - naturally - on the Internet.

For a sec, I pondered whether I should pull a Roger Ebert, though.

If you recall, a few months ago he fessed that he reviewed a film he never even cast a hairy-eye on.

Subsequnently, a controversy hit the old fan.

Gosh, what a dilemma!

Guess I'll just have to catch "Creation" once again (on DVD?).

In the interim, I may as well finish this review in a novel way.

When I was studying English literature, my professor was  insistent that including a quote (or the opinions of others in an essazy)) would carry a lot of weight (and add a professional touch).

Why not test the theory?

David Germian (AP film critic) asserted that "Creation" was about Evolution vs. Divinity.

"A pretty small film considering its huge themes," he mused.

Another critic pointed out that Creation has caused a bit of a controversy in respect to Christian values.

Movieguide.org, - a Web site that reviews films from a Christian perspective - bashed the feature film as “a one-sided bit of propaganda."

Benjamin Radford at Discovery News went a step farther and tried to fathom the alleged controversy.

"Never before has the threat of Darwin’s ideas to creationism been so clearly depicted in a mainstream movie. While other films have downplayed or glossed over the friction between "On the Origin of Species" and the Bible, Creation tackles it head-on," he asserted in his report on the film and its impact since it went into widespread release.

It's crystal clear to me that it was obviously the painkillers (gobbled down for medicinal purposes) - and not the film - that put me to sleep.

Even though I believe wholeheartedly in intelligent design (created by the inviisible hand of God) I intend to give it another shot.

Amen!

Brangelina...did sensual Jolie cheat on Inglourious Basterd Ptt? Eye-witnesses say...

Skanky is as skanky does!

Brad's spanking-new Facebook
(come hither look)

A doorman barred the entrance, but eagle-eyed blood-hounds (who managed to get a glimpse through a half-cracked bedroom door) were titillated by the sight nonetheless.

A multitude of perfumed blossoms scattered at random about the softly-lit environs of the romantic get-a-way - alongside slightly-soiled hand towels - was a tip-off to scandal mongers scrounging around for clues.

Ever-sensual Jolie in a passionate clinch with a handsome lover with the sexiest man alive nowhere in sight.

Selfish bit**!

The sexed-up starlett could have at least gone menage-a-trois, for Brad's sake,  eh?

Out-of-sight - out-of-mind - I expect!

The nasty rumors were streaking like lightning across the Internet, but publicists vehemently denied the allegations.

"Simply not true."

In a week where Johnny Depp was being pronounced dead - though very much alive - die-hard (mostly hard) fans of the winsome-twosome were willing to concede that the rumor mill was out of whack on this delicious dirt.

But, the loose lips and juicy tattling, persisted.

So, a  source of a source, took a flying leap.

And, may have struck tabloid gold!

It was reported in dailies around the country at the crack of dawn, for instance, that Brad was in the throes of purchasing a bachelor pad in the Hollywood Hills.

Without a zip  in WeHo - looks like rumors of the "jumping ship" kind - won't make it out of the gate.

"He needs somewhere quiet that doesn't have memories of Angie, and where he can be alone, and think about what (whom) he does next."

The front door (or back door, for that matter) is wide open at my digs!

Provided, I'm allowed to saunter out on party nights with a few of your kewl threads on my back, guaranteed to beef up my own silhouette.

Kidding!

No word from the Jolie camp, but something tells me she's crying the blues, you betcha.

Getting caught with a  male sl**'s di** caught in your honeypot is strictly taboo.

Pretty soon the rags will be screaming out tawdry headlines drawing attention to the fact.

"Jolie a skanky sleep-around cheat"

Ouch!

PEW...rebuttal on allegations of theft & wrongdoing! Art of the Steal (9.14 films)...

Pew accused of Art theft of century!

Protesters angry with Barnes Museum move!

PEW (a charitable trust) was accused of wrongdoing, the rich and powerful in Philadelphia high society allegedly schemed to carry off the art theft of the century, and friends of a respected collector (Alfred Barnes) rallied in court with cries for mercy (amidst a mountain of scandalous documents which pointed an accusing finger).

The whole tawdry tale was documented recently by 9.14 Films and well-received at a handful of prestigious Film Festivals around the country.

In my review of the "Art of the Steal" - I reported on all the juicy titillating details - which must have driven  my readers into a wild disbelieving frenzy!

Post:  01/20/2010

Oh, there was malicious gossip about Moses Annenberg, eye-brow-raising rivalry between son - Walter Annenberg - and the insightful financially-independent art collector (and much to-do about his priceless collection which was at the heart of a great controversy), a lot of back-stabbing, sleuthing, and all-round treacherous behaviour on the part of all the power-players.

Curiously, the alleged perpetrators of the crime, refused to chat on-camera with the filmmakers for some inexplicable reason.

On these occasions, the producers (and "friends of Barnes") offered up publicity stills which - for the most part - were downright unflattering.

While Ray Perelman swirled in intrigue in the shadows, the director of the well-crafted documentary, flashed a photograph on screen which portrayed the man as evil personified.

A PEW representative (a woman) came across as - shrill, haughty, a snob - well, you get the picture!

After a painstaking day or two of drafts, edits, and polishing, I finally posted the Barnes drama on the Tattler web site without much thought.

Another one put to bed!

Curiously, when I was checking e-mail today, I spied a communication from PEW tucked away amidst all the rubble e-mails, sales pitches, spam, and so forth and so on.

In that communication, there was a brief note from a PEW spokesperson, who noted for the record that the Charitable Trust had responded to the allegations on their web site.

Right off-the-bat, PEW asserted that the reason they did not agree to interviews with the film crew for their documentary on the Barnes' issues, was because they anticipated  there would be bias.

Rather than be manipulated, or backed into a corner, I suspect they chose to go their own way.

In response, I contacted the PEW spokesperson and assured the individual that - to be fair - I would post their rebuttal at this site.

I cut their responses and inserted them herein below.

Please note that the questions raised to ferret out the information were posed by PEW and/or their associates (attorneys, whomever) and that my involvement amounted to that of  "messenger" only.

So, don't shoot me, eh?

FAQS

The Pew Charitable Trusts' Role in the Barnes Foundation Move

Organization: The Pew Charitable Trusts

The Pew Charitable Trusts has provided support to the Barnes Foundation as part of our longstanding commitment to protecting and preserving cultural treasures held in the public trust.

Most recently, we have taken great pride in serving as an advocate and fundraiser for the Barnes as it plans to relocate its world-class art collection from suburban Lower Merion, Pennsylvania, to a new location on Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about Pew’s role with the Barnes Foundation.

Q: Why is the Barnes Foundation moving?

A: The Barnes Foundation is moving its gallery from Lower Merion to Center City Philadelphia as the only feasible solution to severe and chronic financial problems. If these problems had remained unaddressed, the Foundation would have been unable to pay its bills. The physical security of the individual artworks and the integrity of the collection as a whole would have been at risk.

Q: What is Pew’s role with regard to the Barnes Foundation?

A: Pew’s role has been as an advocate and fundraiser. We, along with other donors, helped to raise $150 million (which includes our own funds) to build a new facility in Philadelphia, relocate the collection and establish an endowment to ensure the Foundation’s future security.

In addition, Pew provided interim operating support, enabling the Foundation to stay open in its Merion location.

We acted not only to sustain the Barnes in the short term, but also to help put it on sound financial footing for generations to come, and as an independent institution accessible to all audiences, as Dr. Barnes wished.

Q: How much has Pew contributed to the Barnes Foundation?

A: Pew has made grants totaling $24,350,000 to support the Barnes Foundation, which includes $20 million to support the costs related to the new facility.

Q: Was Pew motivated to meet a test required for public charity status?

A: Pew’s role with the Barnes was neither motivated by nor necessary for our application to become a public charity. Our work with the Barnes Foundation was one of four examples we included in our Form 1023 petition of Pew’s ability to attract public support.

The examples were chosen from a long list of qualifying projects. Pew qualified as a public charity irrespective of our work for the Barnes.

Q: Does Pew have any control or a governing role with the Barnes?

Q: Did Pew set out to take over the Barnes?

A: No. The Barnes Foundation is led by an independent board of trustees. The Barnes came to us after determining that its very existence was threatened and that it could not accomplish its mission or survive in its Merion location.

We agreed, and provided much-needed support for its operations and long-term plan.

Pew is not involved in operating the Barnes Foundation and we are not represented on the Barnes board.

Q: Does Pew have any control or ownership of the Barnes  artwork?

A: Absolutely not. Pew does not have any ownership of or control over the Barnes Foundation or its collection of artwork.

Control over the assets and programs of the Barnes remains vested exclusively in its board.

Q: Aren’t Pew & others unfaithful to Barnes' intentions by moving the collection?

A: Rarely reported, the governing document establishing the Barnes Foundation states that if the Foundation were no longer financially stable and needed to move, it would have the option to do so.

The Montgomery County Orphan’s Court granted the Barnes Foundation request to relocate the art collection after years of litigation and weeks of hearings.

The judge carefully reviewed the alternatives and agreed that the move to downtown Philadelphia was the best solution to the severe problems facing the Barnes Foundation.

Q: Why didn’t Pew participate in Art of the Steal (documentary).

A: We learned that the film was going be severely biased. Given our institutional commitment to the facts and quality information, we decided it would be inappropriate to participate.
