Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival....Patti Smith plays San Francisco's free concert! Oct. 3rd!

Classy posters are collector's items!

Patti Smith is playing the meadow in historic Golden Gate Park today at the "Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival".

The festival features 6 stages, spans over 3 days, and is expecting 750,000 guests to attend.

For music lovers and musicians, the Strictly - celebrating its 10th Anniversary - is the event to party-hearty this weekend on the West Coast.

On its final day, the Festival is expected to climax at a frenzied pitch, in spite of the forecasts of rain.

As I pen this post, the showers persist, but that won't deter any of the die-hard fans who will turn out in full force with - slickers, umbrellas, and what-have-you - nonetheless.

The event is backed by financier Warren Hellman, who appeared Saturday at the Bluegrass Festival with Mayor Gavin Newsom, to announce a gift for the city.

Hellman has promised to donate approximately $75,000 to fix the irrigation system in a portion of Golden Gate Park where the Bluegrass event is being held.

Sunday's lineup includes Indigo Girls, Roseanne Cash, Nick Lowe, and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Patti Smith, T Bone Burnett, Hazel Dickens and many more acts.
