American Film Institute...honors Morgan Freeman with Life Achievement Award!

Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman - one of my favorite actors - has been bestowed with the American Film Institute's highest honor.

The 73-year-old thespian - with a bevy of stellar performances under his belt - will receive the film festival's prestigious Life Achievement Award - at a special ceremony in June (2011).

AFI Chair - Sir Howard Stringer - offered up nothing but glowing tributes when he recently announced the news at a packed high-profile press conference.

"Morgan Freeman is an American treasure - who brings a calm authority to his roles," he  noted solemnly, "whether playing a prisoner,  a President or God."

Mr. Freeman - a charismatic likeable actor - joins the ranks of a handful of well-respected performers to receive the honor which includes such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock, Martin  Scorsese, Jack Nicholson, Bette Davis, and Director Steven Spielberg.

The talented actor currently starring opposite Bruce Willis in the spy spoof - RED - is the 39th recipient of the coveted award.

Congrats, Morgan!
