John Lennon...70th Birthday celebrated on October 9th!

Happy 70th to John!
(Beyond the Sacred Veil)

One of my fave psychadelic images of John!

Today, Internet cruisers logging in to the google search page, may have noticed that the Corporate Giant's logo has been altered to include a whimsical fine line drawing of a familiar face (somewhat reminiscent of a handful of Picasso's naive child-like drawings executed when the artist was in a twenty or thirty-something age-range).

Of course, the sketch is a self-portrait, rendered by the legendary Beatle John Lennon.

Unlike the other mop-top side-kicks in the British Band - which took North America by storm on the popular Ed Sullivan show in the early sixties - John did not neglect his keen interest in the fine arts.

In fact, after Lennon (probably the most well-rounded gifted artists of the fab four) leaped to great fame on an International scale, he continued to express his creative side with pen & ink on rice paper, on stretched canvas, and by engaging with other artists at Art exhibitions (and happenings) he attended.

In fact, that was how the multi-talented Liverpudlian, met Yoko.

John said "yes" - to a conceptual art piece on the ceiling of the gallery after climbing a ricketty old ladder - and, except for one turbulent period in their relationship thereafter - remained at each other's loving side 'til the well-respected artist passed to spirit.

The first album I ever purchased by the Beatles was "Rubber Soul".

I was originally drawn to John - more so than the other band members - because I was also actively involved in the arts during the same time frame.

Curiously, our artistic styles appeared to "cross over" each other's to my utter amazement.

Tomorrow, is the anniversary of John's birthday.

In the event that he was alive on the 9th, Mr. Lennon would be blowing candles out on a fiery 3-or-4- level tiered cake,  with 70 candles a-blaze a-top of it.

With a joint or two of quality Mary-Jane (hooch) tossed into the mix for good measure, no doubt!

Uh-huh.

Lennon was such a Merry Prankster.

Yoko Ono will probably be jetting off to Iceland - with a gang of friends & musicians in tow - to hold a wake (or upbeat vigil) at a memorial (eternal flame) she erected in her lover's memory.

Moi?

I intend to spin a few of his platters and recall memories of a great talent - and humanitarian - who is still sorely missed around the face of the globe to this day.

Happy Birthday, John!

A more innocent era with Beatles!
