OMG!
Have the lines become so blurred between cable and mainstream network TV that the gate-keepers of profanity have lost their way?
I surmise that a posse of viewers ensconced comfortably in front of their armchairs tonight - like moi - sat bolt upright in shock when NBC Nightly news cut to a clip of pro golfer Tiger Woods uttering up the “F” bomb.
For some inexplicable reason the news organization didn’t bother to bleep.
Was that appropriate content for the family dinner hour?
If you recall, the graphic four-letter word got one pop Icon into hot water with the FTC a few years ago, when it was shouted out to a rapt audience attending a live broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards.
Cher got a slap on the wrist and caused an uproar for similar foul language unbefitting a lady (even a gentleman) when she got a little too boisterous on the stage at the Billboard Awards in 2002 as millions gazed on in disbelief around the country.
A network ploy to exploit and ultimately rustle up ratings?
Or, maybe the execs at the majors just don’t care!
You be the judge.
Potty-mouthed Cher earthy!
