Charlie Chaplin...Gold Rush to screen with SF Symphony! April 15th-17th...

The San Francisco Symphony will play the original score for the  classic film the "Gold Rush"  at a rare screening on the Davies Symphony Hall stage (April 15th-17th).

The comedy was written, produced, and directed by Charlie Chaplin - who appears in a role that he made famous - the "Little Tramp" - during the silent film era.

The black & white feature also stars Georgia Hale, Mack Swainam, Tom Murray, Henry Bergman, and Malcolm Waite.

A scene where the "Little Tramp" is forced to eat his boot to satisfy his hunger is one of the  most memorable cinematic moments from Gold Rush that catapulted Chaplin to great fame and fortune.

Chaplin, who also directed, got the little gem in the can with a budget of $923,000.00.

The Gold Rush was originally 96 minutes long in an uncut version but edited to 82 minutes when originally distributed by United Artists in 1925.

The Cinematography was by Roland Totheroh.
