Country Music Awards...Chesney top dog! Carrie Underwood & Sugarland get nods...

Were there any surprises at the Country Music Awards this year?

In some respects, no.

Kenny Chesney won the entertainer of the year award for the fourth time in a row.

Looks like the "Lucky Old Sun" album put him over the top with Country Music fans.

An American Idol contestant continued with her winning streak, too.

For the third time, Carrier Underwood was named female vocalist of the year.

Brad Paisley - who co-hosted the show with Underwood - was also crowned male vocalist of the year amid lots of hoots and hollers from a captive audience.

Country legend George Strait won album of the year (Troubadour) while the country-rock trio - Lady Antelbellum - nabbed the best artist trophy.

Vocal duo kudos went to Sugarland.

Undoubtedly, all artists in the winning categories, will enjoy a surge in sales in the next week or so.

According to industry-analysts, the Country Music Awards (broadcast on ABC this year) have widespread appeal in America, and have the capacity to boost sales.

For instance, it has been reported by Billboard that after last year's broadcast - which attracted 16 million viewers - Taylor Swift saw album sales increase by 156%.

Meanwhile, Keith Urban and Sugarland savored sales that swelled into the double-digit range

Me?

I'm still a big fan of Patsy Cline!
