President Barack Obama...who does he remind you of?

Who could Barack double for?

Today, one of the trendy tabloid shows was running some footage of Barack Obama - gleaned from his recent appearance on "The View" (which they had skillfully interspersed with a couple of news clips) - when it suddenly hit me like a bolt of lightning!

When all of the hand mannerisms and facial expressions (the posturing, too) seemingly melded together to conjure up one visual image of the President - in the fresh setting there before my eyes - it suddenly dawned on me.

Obama reminded me of an actor from a major feature film.

If I ran the title of the movie by you, could you figure out who it is?

"Being there"

Ring any bells?

Uh-huh!

I am referring to Peter Sellers!

Curiously, there are some parrallels between the film - directed by legendary Hal Ashby - and a day-in-the-life of the President.

In the film, which co-stars Shirley MacLean, a commoner (Sellers) is mistaken for a brilliant philosopher and is invited to the White House to share his thoughts on economic growth and the future of the country.

In a real life scenario, a handful of American voters are hopeful that their candidate for the next term of Presidency - who touts a new "Order of the Day" - is the new Messiah.

Who stars in this transparent role?

President Barack Obama, of course!
