Bad Boy Charlie!
Are we all confused yet?
News out of the Charlie Sheen camp is the "Two and a Half Men" star will appear in a Colorado court this afternoon to face assault charges.
Huh?
Are we experiencing a classic case of Deja Vu, or what?
If you recall, the rebellious actor - with the complicated personal life - was arrested after a violent argument with his wife (actress Brooke Meuller).
In a report to the local police last year, Brooke alleged that during the course of a family scuffle, Charlie not only made threats, but put a knife to her throat.
"My husband held me with a knife at my neck and I'm scared for my life 'cause he threatened me," Mueller, 32, told a police dispatcher.
"You better be in fear," Sheen allegedly responded in anger, too, according to Brooke.
"If you tell anybody, I'll kill you. Your mother's money means nothing. I have ex-police I can hire who know how to get the job done and they won't leave any trace."
An Aspen police officer wrote that he witnessed:
"Red marks on the upper part of the front of her neck."
In spite of that observation by the Officer, Sheen denied attacking his wife.
The busy actor admitted that he broke her glasses, however, according to a detailed police transcript.
Sheen told police he became angry when his wife threatened to divorce him and fight for custody of their twin sons, which accounted for his impromptu physical interaction with Brooke at their holiday home in Aspen.
Police proceeded to charge Sheen with felony second-degree assault, felony menacing and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.
Both Sheen and Mueller entered substance abuse rehabilitation several weeks after the incident.
Initially, Sheen was inclined to plead not guilty to all of the charges.
At this juncture, there was a burp in the proceedings, though.
Amidst a lot of wild speculation about what went down that fateful day, Sheen pulled a switcheroo, of sorts.
His lawyer began a dialogue with the Prosecutor's office to "hammer out" a plea bargain agreement with the court.
One was struck that appeared to be agreeable to all parties.
In addition to thirty-days in jail, Charlie would participate in a volunteer program for youth at a local Theatre in town.
However, on the eve of the day Charlie was slated to appear in Court - and finalize the terms and conditions - the deal fell apart.
Apparently, one of the prosecutors - a tough cookie - was reluctant to sign off on the plea bargain - on the grounds that Mr. Sheen was getting off "too lightly" - and in view of the seriousness of the charges alleged.
Trust a witchy woman to throw a monkey wrench into Charlie's well-conceived plans!
Time out!
Over the past few weeks, the Sheen case has - essentially - been held in abeyance.
Until a scant day or two ago, that is.
Suddenly, without any warning, there was an about-face.
Now, it appears that Charlie will be appearing in a Colorado court this afternoon to plead guilty to the charge of assault - and agree to thirty days in jail (perhaps) and rehab - with the provisio that the more serious charge of felony menacing be dropped.
Confused as moi?
