West Hollywood...rubble in the streets a hazard!

West Hollywood used to be a quaint little neighborhood on the edge of Beverly Hills.

In recent years, though, quite a few of the cozy little cottages that edged the leafy tree-lined streets have been torn down to make way for spanking-new designer digs.

Condos!

Unfortunately, the construction outfits erecting the jazzy high-priced accomdations have been careless in recent days in respect to their building habits and negligent in respect to resident safety.

For instance, if you stroll down any number of side streets between San Vicente Boulevard and Sweetzer Streets (to the East and West) - or from Sunset Boulevard to Melrose Avenue (to the North and South) - you will undoubtedly find yourself confronted with quite a few buckling side walks and scraps of garbage littered about the street that are an outright hazard to pedestrians and motorists alike.

I am surprised that City Council hasn't appointed someone to cruise the neighborhood and check up on these sites to ensure that the contractors are containing the rubble within the confines of the building area.

If there is such a person responsible for the task, he or she is obviously not doing their job or fulfilling their obligation to the community at large.

Will hapless victims have to fall down and hurt themselves in the street before any action will be taken by the City of West Hollywood to rectify this glaring problem?

What a sad state of affairs!

It's time we took the city back, don't you think???
