There was a definite buzz in the air in the tony climbs of Beverly Hills this morning.
Amidst a circus-like atmosphere, Lindsay Lohan's limousine purred up to the curb at 8:36 a.m. (late again, folks) - but for some inexplicable reason - the "Mean Girls" star remained hidden inside behind smoked glass.
On notice that Lindsay Lohan would be appearing for a court proceeding at half-past the hour - a gang of reporters, paparazzi, and hangers on - turned out in full force to capture a shot of Ms. Lohan running the gauntlet in front of the courthouuse.
One reporter noted that he'd never seen anything like it.
In addition to the press, there was also a posse of Court Officals standing on guard, out front.
Fans turned out early and began to congregate on the bustling street, hoping to get a glimpse of troubled film star..
To cover their butts, a few photographers and news organizations, chose to camp out at a side door in the event Ms. Lohan was ushered in that less-traveled route to avoid a crush.
Actually, the Linday entrance went off without a hitch (at long last).
Attired in an elegant dark suit - and white blouse open at the collar - the mood was definitely somber (almost business-like).
At issue today was Lindsay's failure to appear before the Judge last week and a determination as to whether Ms. Lohan violated her probation.
As I reported mid-week, Ms. Lohan was three classes short of completing her court-ordered Alchohol and Drug Abuse program.
Four days prior to Ms. Lohan's court date to determine the status of her probation - Lindsay elected to jet off to the Cannes Film Festival - despite warnings from friends and business associates that she was cutting it short.

The star of the upcoming screen bio on porn star - Linda Lovelace - was preparing to fly home to the U.S. to make the court hearing when her passport was allegedly stolen.
Some speculated it was a delaying-and-stalling tactic or a ruse to buy more time.
In response, the angry Judge issued an arrest warrant and imposed $100,000.00 bail.
That warrant was lifted once her lawyers posted a bond to secure it ($10,000.00) later in the day.
Today, the media hounds went wild, when she alighted from the high-end vehicle.
The fast-footed newsies scrambled across the lawn to a perch that was blessed with a full view of Ms. Lohan striding through security.
Once inside, and seated, the Judge read the terms and conditions of her release.
Lindsay Lohan would have to agree to random Drug and Alcohol testing, for starters.
Once a week, Lindsay would also be required to appear at a testing facility, to verify she was in compliance with the court's order (No Alcohol).
Having stated the terms and conditions of probation, the Judge proceeded to probe Lindsay and her lawyer further.
"Do you accept the terms?"
The two locked heads - at which point - the lawyer noted that they would prefer there not be any requirement of a scram device.
"Lindsay has some film work coming up and that stipulation would interfere," she noted in so many words.
Oh, she was sharp alright.
But not as intelligent (and insightful) as the Judge who knew her "stuff".
"Are you formally objecting to the "order" or accepting the terms," the Judge queried in a no-nonesense manner.
The lawyer and Lindsay whispered their thoughts to each other for a moment or two, then agreed to the conditions.
The prosecutor's lawyer was not going to let go on the "passport' issue.
"I'd like to see Ms. Lohan produce copies of airline tickets for the flight scheduled for May 19th."
Gotcha?
Surprise!
Ms. Lohan offered copies of the documents for the court to review.
At the close of the hearing, the Judge urged Lindsay to appear for all court-ordered tests.
"To the court, a failure to appear, is a dirty test."
A full hearing in July will seek to determine if Ms. Lohan was in Violation of Probatio - and if so - what penalty should be imposed.
And, how was your day?
