Cher...Michele Bachmann quote of the day!

On the heels of the controversy which broke out yesterday over Michele Bachmann's stance on "trauma treatment" (a therapy technique used at her husband's clinic to convert gays to straight sexual orientation) Cher uttered up the quote of the day.

"Michele Bachmann is so stupid, she doesn't know her husband is (gay)," she tweeted.

One for the "mothers" of gays!

Wait a minute, that's not right.

How about - "one for the mothers of men trapped in woman's bodies" - eh?

Well, you get the drift of it!

Twitter...following moi!

Shortly after I logged into my e-mail at Yahoo this afternoon, a surprising message stared up at me from the laptop screen.

"Twitter is following you."

OMG!

Is the team at the squeaky-clean social network focusing a hairy eyeball on me in the event I get too naughty?

Or, is twitter just keen on my daily posts, which streak like lightning around the globe daily titillating the masses?

A flattering tweet nonetheless!

Allan Carr...tweeted he couldn't go to the gym today! Wonder why...

Allan Carr left his indelible mark!

Ann Margaret & Elvis!

I was taken aback when I caught sight of the thumb-nail portrait of Allan Carr staring back at me on the Twitter social hub earlier this afternoon.

The tweet read:

"Couldn't make it to the gym today"

OMG!

Why not?

Well, for starters, because Mr. Carr (who I knew personally) passed to spirit many years ago.

And, if I am not mistaken, good friend Ann Margaret can attest to the fact.

After all, true friend that she was, she fulfilled Allan's death bed wish to have his ashes cast out to sea.

The infamous Mr. Carr drove a creme-colored Rolls Royce, built a disco in his Beverly Hills Mansion on Benedict Canyon Road, and was known for tossing wild over-the-top one-of-a-kind party extravaganzas to die for.

Teen bill-of-fare (Grease) - starring the likes of Maxwell Caulfield & John Travolta - followed and cinched his stake in the Hollywood Dream Factory.

It  began with an invite from producer extraordinaire - Robert Stigwood - to produce the ad campaign for Saturday Night Fever.

With a midas touch, Carr turned the star-studded television special into the event of the year.

Grease followed.

Carr not only helmed the ad campaign and produced the premiere party, but also wrote the screen adaptation for six million dollars.

The stellar cast was headed up by Olivia Newton-John.

When the dust settled, Grease was the highest grossing film of the year, the most popular movie musical of all time, and one of the highest grossing films in history.

The splashy big-budget musicial was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and won two People's Choice Awards (Best Picture & Best Musical Picture).

As I mentioned in an earlier post on Bruce Jenner, I was being considered for a role in the off-beat Village People music vehicle (Can't Stop the Music) but lost out to another Hollywood hopeful by the name of Steve Guttenberg.

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2010/02/bruce-jennerappears-in-hollywood-to.html

The film - directed by Nancy Walker (also starring Valerie Perrine & Jenner) - was a big ballsy in-your-face flop.

In the final analysis, I was spared association with one of the all-time feature-film turkeys!

Justin Bieber...PEOPLE cover goofy! Pop star cries foul...

When a artist graces the cover of PEOPLE magazine, they’ve arrived in many respects.

But, in view of the complaints emanating out of the Justin Bieber camp, mainstream images beaming out to the masses is not always a palpable one, welcomed with open arms by the subject.

Shortly after Pop Culture’s “Bible”of  celebrity tattle released a promo on their new darling - Justin Bieber - he roared his disapproval by way of the almighty tweet.

If fans read between the lines, it was obvious.

Bieber hates the squeaky-clean - almost scary - photograph that stares out goofily from the popular weekly on the newstands around the country.

The mouth, for example, is so pepsodent!

Also, it appears that PEOPLE facilitated some photo-shop magic to effect the image of a wholesome all-American pop star (in spite of the fact he’s Canadian).

Ah, it’s the nature of the beast.

Once fame has knocked on a celebrity’s door, the perceptions of the individual become twisted and distorted (triggered by a ravenous press out to manipulate - and eventually devour - their latest caged animal).

I expect that in the near future, Bieber’s handlers will start requesting editorial control, choice of pics, you name it.

Like Streisand, before him, there may be clandestine efforts to protect and promote the persona that fits their vision of the sizzling hot pop star in the early throes of his career on talk shows and at high-profile celebrity events.

If you recall, Barbra Streisand demanded Oprah Winfrey rearrange the furniture on her set, so the Diva's  better side (is there one?) was facing camera.

Antics like that earned La Streisand the title of “Super C**t”.

For good reason, celebrities lay down a lot of cold hard cash to snap up a bevy of expert handlers to usher them up the ladder of success without any burps (or nasty gaffes) causing stumbles along the way.

Superstars are not immune to fatal missteps in the fickle arena - otherwise known as the Hollywood Dream Factory - though.

When Tom Cruise took a dive from his lofty perch (in part due to the infamous couch-jumping scene on Oprah) foes clucked with glee.

No wonder!

Just months prior, Cruise parted ways with the all-powerful well-connected Hollywood public relations team,  once watching over him with hawk-like precision.

Cruise has never recovered from the fallout.

As to Bieber, well it’s not all roses, by any means.

For some inexplicable reason, TMZ has  chosen to knock the kid marvel (with a  No. 1 hit record and a posse of adoring fans "following"  every move).

On one segment, Harvey &  the kids gleefully referred to Bieber as a gruesome virus spreading around the Nation.

The mischievous gossip mongers tend to broadcast off-the-wall embarrassing photos, too, whenever they're offered up by a watchful paparazzi quick on the uptake.

For example, one cynical photog captured a shot of a Bieber billboard captioned - “My World” - atop a strip joint known as “Crazy Girls”.

I caught the whiz kid slip - and reveal  a cocky ill-mannered side - when he plunked his foot down on the coffee table during an appearance on the Jay Leno show.

Right about now, the industry is panting at the mouth, for a delicious Bieber scandal.

If God smiles on me, I may be the lucky one to break the news first.

Eat your heart out, Harvey!

Shannon Tweed...Autism Awareness Day!

I logged in to Twitter at the close of "Dancing with the Stars" last night when I spied a tweet that Shannon Tweed just posted (we follow each other) on the subject of Autism.

"Don't forget that April is Autism month."

Shannon also underscored that April 2nd (Friday) is World Autism Awareness Day.

The subject of Autism is close to Ms. Tweed's heart since one of her own children is autistic.

World Autism Awareness Day shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis, according to the organizers.

WAAD activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism epidemic and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention.

Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of persons with autism and is a day when individuals with autism are warmly welcomed and embraced in community events around the globe.

"By bringing together autism organizations all around the world, we will give a voice to the millions of individuals worldwide who are undiagnosed, misunderstood and looking for help" an official noted at the organization's web site.

Concerned inviduals are urged to join in the effort to inspire compassion inclusion and hope.

Twitter...Jimmy Fallon & guest chat about glitches! Celebrity identity theft...

Did you get that tweet, baby?

Last night, talk show host - Jimmy Fallon - and a guest were griping about glitches at Twitter which were a little unsettling.

What a relief to hear that I am not the only individual in the limelight who has encountered difficulties with respect to logging in, being recognized by the system, getting feedback from technical staff at Twitter, and so forth and so on.

Fallon's guest expressed frustration over the fact that if you're a celebrity - you can't just sign up and tweet up a storm - without getting a shake-down from Twitter staff first.

For instance, well-known actors have to go through a verification process.

Twitter will field various questions, and likewise - engage in a few histrionics to determine "you are who you say are" - for starters.

After all, what is to stop a wicked identity thief from suddenly jumping on the social hub, and misleading fellow tweet afficiandos into believing they are Johnny Depp, let's say.

There have to be some security measures in place, for sure.

A few  months ago, when I casually mentioned in the course of a conversation that Shannon Tweed was following me on Twitter, a friend quipped without hestitation.

"How do you know that it's really her?"

"Well," I fumbled for words, "It is."

I hestitated for a moment, then found myself snapping back to "he of little faith".

"Twitter wouldn't let that happen."

Would they?

In addition, Fallon and his guest, grumbled that even though they provided the right information in the "verification process", the problem was not resolved right away.

"My verification was denied," the actor snorted in disgust.

I feel their twitter pain!

One day, after I posted a tweet about a tribute to Johnny Cash on Facebook, I got locked out!

Every time I attempted to log in, a dialogue box popped up requesting that I try again.

After several failed log-in attempts, I finally tried the old twitter - "retrieve password" - function.

But, to no avail.

Each time I clicked on the link they provided in an e-mail - inputted a new secret password and attempted to log in - I was denied access.

At this juncture, I zipped off an e-mail to twitter and quizzed the technical staff.

"What gives?"

After about two days, the support team responded, and confirmed that somewhat was WRONG!

However, days passed, and no action was taken to alleviate the problem.

A follow-up e-mail failed to rustle up any response (or respect).
So, for about two weeks, I was unable to tweet!

Followers must have thought I dropped off the face of the earth or grown weary of twitter-ville!

Then, this past week, I thought I'd give the log-in the old college try!

Eureka, the magic twitter portal opened magically without explanation, and I was busy happily tweeting away once again!

Perplexing, eh?

Uh-huh!

Life is not always that tweet @ twitter.

Justin Bieber...quote of the day! Life in the slammer...

Today, Justin Bieber - in the wake of the controversial arrest of his manager (Scott Scooter Braun) for NOT tweeting to local law enforcement in a timely manner - was asked by one reporter if he had any advice for his handler as he stews in the slammer.

The Pop sensation's bang on quip was undoubtedly the upbeat humorous quote of the day.

"Don't bend over for the soap," Justin chuckled to a posse of frenzied paparazzi hot in pursuit.

Well, if the music gig doesn't work out, there's always stand up comedy, kid!

Dave Letterman...catches twitter rage! Newbie notes lesbo Ellen boasts 4 mil followers...

Life is tweet!

Dave Letterman stepped out of the dark ages last night and crafted his first tweet!

A few seconds shy of the momentous event, the toothy talk show host - like a kid with a new toy (or an old letch with a hot new babe) - rambled off a handful of statistics with elation.

"Oprah gets three million tweets," he excitedly pointed out to his rapt audience.

PC savvy bandleader Paul Shaffer was inclined to toss in a comment from the sidelines at this juncture.

"Followers, Dave. Not tweets."

The scandal-ridden late show personality was a bit confused about the semantics of the ongoing twitter trends floating internet surfers'  boats around the globe.

Amused, Dave corrected himself.

"And it says here," Dave interjected with glee, "that Ellen DeGeneres has four million."

There were some oohs and aahs from the audience

"But," Dave chuckled,"I expect most of those are lesbians, so it probably doesn't count."

The audience howled.

Dave giggled for being so naughty.

Since Ellen and her fans follow moi, I'll tweet this little update on Dave, so they'll be sure to get their t**s all-a-twitter over the less-than-tweet comment Dave uttered at the witching hour last night.

Surprsingly, the Dave Letterman show could only boast a paltry three thousand "followers", according to Letterman, who was surprisingly mum on the Tiger Woods dilemma.

"That's because people don't know you tweet, Dave," Shaffer comforted him from his lofty perch on the sideliness off-stage.

Also, birds of a feathe, tweet together, I surmise (in private and away from the likes of facebook friends who press their ears close to the wall, I expect).

With a bit of fanfare, a staffer plunked a computer down in front of Dave, and strolled off.

"They've brought me this twitter machine so I can tweet," Dave mischievously pointed out to his die-hard fans hanging on every word.

"That's a lap top computer, Dave," the bandleader pointed out.

The virgin tweetie was a bundle of nervous energy and raring to boldly twitter where none of the Letterman clan had ever ventured tweetly before.

As Dave started to key in a word or two, Schaffer was about to interrupt again, when Dave shooed him off.

"Paul, please. I'm doing something here."

A second after he turned back to the keyboard, he whirled around - gazed into camera with a schoolboy's expression of joy and wonder on his face - and noted some important information to be mindful of.

"Oh, you can only use 140 characters, too. So, if there is an emergency or something, forget it."

Once Dave managed to key in a tweet, he was in a quandry about how to proceed.

"What now?"

A handfulf of knowledgeable tweeters in the studio instructed Dave to hit enter.

Once done, he was a bit perplexed.

"Well, did it go," he wondered aloud in so many words.

Apparently Dave failed to strike the update button, but - once done - the twitter newbie proudly learned his tantalizing message was "received".

What were the first words spoken - and sent whizzing across the blogosphere - at the twitter site?

"Do you smell fried peppers and veal?"

"I thought I smelled fried peppers and veal just as I was about to tweet," Dave dead-panned to the camera.

I expect there will be a few hilarious replies this morning from Dave's followers.

In fact, now that Dave is a celebrated twitter aficiando, I expect his number of follows will leap.

I just signed on "to follow" Dave for curiosity sake.

Just how good a speller do 'ya think Dave is, after all?

News at 11!

Dave doubles-up guests in chairs for maximum ratings potential!

Barack Obama...Jacka** remark lowers Prez to level of common Joe!

Ooops!
I don't bray!

When I overheard the news flash in my travels about the city the other day, I laughed out loud.

Another controversy raged in  a week that (at a minimum) had been rife with bad behaviour from white and black trailer-trash alike.

Maybe the alignment of the planets was all screwed up.

Or, the soaring heat was making folks testy.

According to a tweet that zapped at lightning speed around the internet (and beyond into the frenzied mainstream media realms)  Barack Obama allegedly jumped into the Kanye West fray - and in an off-the-cuff moment - hissed to a few within earshot (off-camera) that the musician was (quite simply) a Jacka**.

How refreshing!

To a handful who once belly-ached that Obama was "uppity" - and occasionally was prone to act "Holier than thou" - it was a Godsend, really.

In sum, the Prez was no different than any common "Joe" prone to dish at whim when the occasion arose.

Personally, it was the word  Jacka** that titillated me.

In choosing that "label", Obama demonstrated a little imagination, in my estimation.

When you call a person an "a**hole", for instance, it simply conjures of a glaring demeaning image of all that is negative about sentient beings (and the inconsiderate and/or inappropriate selfish actions of an individual that often lead them astray from humanity).

For many, the label smarts.

Jacka**, on the other hand, is a much bigger rub.

Stings more, dudes!

After all, the "tag" gets to the very core of the personality - and in the final analysis - makes a broader, deeper, more insightful statement about the individual in a lasting humorous way.

The dictionary definition defines it best:

jackass

    noun
1. a male donkey.
2. a contemptibly foolish or stupid person; dolt; blockhead; ass

Barack hit the nail on the head, in a nutshell!

But, the controversy goes beyond the alleged name-calling.

Apparently, when the President uttered the off-the-cuff slight, he was off-camera in-between-takes.

But, worse than that, informed sources verified later that the powers-that-be at the Network in question agreed to respect the President's wishes that the remark remain "off-the-record".

Unfortunately, another overzealous Jacka**  (they're running rampant around the political landscape these days) seized the golden opportunity to tweet his way to fame before the strong arm of his employer was able to silence him.

Uh-huh!

Within hours, the President's comment was zig-zagging around the country - and overseas, too - causing a heapload of mayhem in its wake.

Part of the blame rests with the President, in my estimation.

Obviously, he's a bit balmy if he thought his wishes would be respected, in this tattle-tale back-stabbing media-befuddled age.

As to the press, well, they blew it too.

Now that the President's trust has been broken, it is doubtful they'll ever be welcomed into the inner sanctum again.

Doris Duke's father said it best when he cautioned her on his deathbed:

"Trust no one."

And not even your instinct, on occasion, Barack!

Twitter...quote of the day! In the wake of the fall-out...

Within twenty-four hours of the initial "fall-out" at Twitter - shortly after the social hub fell down and went boom - Internet Security experts and anti-virus aficionados scrambled to shed a searing penetrating light on the unexpected attack which swept across the blogosphere - like a giant computer tsunami - and crippled a host of web sites in its powerful wake.

Was it a new-fangled worm?

Some speculated that it was all about bragging rights.

Just betcha, it was the invisible hand of a pimply-faced computer nerd out to flex (and draw-attention-to) his potent hacking skills for the mere thrill of it, Dudes.

In a report I penned and posted yesterday afternoon, I noted that individuals at Sophos ( a leading anti-virus expert) were quite emphatic that the cyber attack was instigated by savvy criminals with an agenda in mind (either personal or professional in nature).

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2009/08/twittercyber-attack-paralyzes-tweet.html

Meanwhile - in other quarters - investigators directly involved with hands-on security issues on the pervasive world-wide-web, hinted that it was an army of computers (taken hostage unbeknown to their owners) known as "Botnets" that triggered the domino effect which ultimately overwhelmed the Internet.

Today, pieces of the intriguing puzzle are being put into place, with the precious hope that the footprint of the intruder may be tracked to the source.

There will be an update this afternoon on the painstaking investigation underway and a rundown on the findings of the experts.

In the meantime - it should be noted that a posse of pundits, notables in the IT field, and probing media types (for starters) - have tossed in their own two-cents worth on not only the ramifications of the calamitous event - but the profound meaning of it all in a pop culture (& Internet phenomenon) subtext.

A journalist at the McClatchy Newspapers gets a nod for their summary on the Twitter "attack" - and likewise - their astute assessment of the resulting fall-out in the aftermath.

"Twitter's site crashed, leaving approximately 23 million unique visitors without the ability to "tweet" about themselves for several hours."

Devastating!

Twitter...porn creeps into social networking hub! Titillating, 'fer sure...

When I logged onto Yahoo this morning - and perused the mailbox for new messages - I spied a couple of tweets from Twitter.com informing me a couple of members were now "following me" at the ever-popular social networking site.

For example, this one stared up at me, innocently enough.

TyraRichards (Richards275) is now following your tweets on Twitter.

But, as soon as I clicked on the link provided, an unexpected flurry of graphic sexual images featuring sexy siren Tyra - and a couple of her girlfriends, I guess - jut about knocked my socks off!

Yessir!

That tweet was pretty sweet, alright!

And, Tyra (a stage name perhaps?) had no qualms about getting straight to-the-point, either.

"My fantasy is for you to rip off my pants and bend me over and fuck me hard," she purred.

And, she provided a link to hook up:

Ryan Seacrest...tweets with knees up in air!

Ryan, the knee tweets are obviously making your bowl-legged~

A few days ago, Ryan Seacrest posted a revealing tweet in which he acknowledged that he managed to get the missive out to the twitter site - in heavy LA LA LAND traffic mind you - by manipulating his cell phone between his knees.

Whoa Nellie!

Flexible, eh?

That Seacrest must be an acrobat in-between the sheets!

Careful with the KY gel, Ryan, otherwise there may be a bit of the old slip 'n slide right off of the Queen-size bed into the video cameraman's lap!

By the way, is Gavin Newsom (avid twit - um - tweeter) slated to flog any hair products in upcoming chats sessions in the near future?

After his last splash on the airwaves, it was evident to me that was with great radio face.

In closing, I am curious as to how it came about - that your celebrated star on the "Walk of Fame" - was installed for posterity on such top-dollar real estate adjacent to Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Did you have to get down on your knees?

For the hand and footprints, silly goose!

Inquiring minds - and Metro sexual males around the country - are hankering for a clue.

It's all in the details, dude.

Twitter...scam! VIP follow an aburd notion...

Just a few moments ago - in response to a quote I posted and updated on Twitter - a stranger with the curious username of "Twitter teacher" (or something to that effect) logged into the thriving social hub that is Twitter and promptly signed up to become a "follower".

On the heels of the notification from Twitter (which arrived all smiles in my in-box at Yahoo as usual) I surfed back to the Twitter site to peruse the tweet list for an update on twitter member activities.

After all, sweet tweeters, I've become affectionately attached to your insightful meanderings, and the intriguing things that go bump in the good night.

Suddenly, a tweet I spied (posted by the new "follower") caught my attention.

Teasingly, the tweet hinted that a bevy of VIP followers was just a flick of a finger and a tempting link away.

Quite truthfully, though, niggling qualms held me at bay.

Indeed - the idea of venturing beyond my tweet comfortable niche (and likewise) sauntering willy-nilly into the great unknown on a whimsical merry chase to grab the brass ring - struck me as an absurd notion.

Good gosh - call me a Pollyanna, whatever dudes!

In the orbit I float in, all Twitter-ers are equal!

Yup, 'ya got it.

I haven't any pretenses - not one snotty aspiration - to rub shoulders (or get up-tweet and personal) with any self-proclaimed or highly-placed (annointed by the blessed holy few) VIP follower!

In the final analysis, I welcome all followers - especially those fresh in the ranks who are inspired to answer the call on the heels of a nugget of wisdom I may have humbled offered up to all.

Nuff said!

In closing, I have roughly thrown together a quickie cut-and-paste job of the VIP offer which mysteriously posted in a link at the Twitter tweet page about thirty minutes ago.

Then, just as swifty, vanished into the ether to parts unknown.

Take note that shortly after I clicked on the link to investigate - and likewise to verify the legitimacy of the commercial enterprise trying to leech on to (and make big bucks off of the Twitter phenomenon) the post transformed into an tweet update with my user name and publicity still on its face with a caption alleging I was touting the VIP service!

Not true!

American Idol...no sense of humor! Simon dishes it out, but can't take it...

The flapping wrist says it all, Simon!

On the heels of penning a couple of posts on Adam Lambert, Twitter tweeted me that top-rated American Idol was now following moi!

I expect that the powers-that-be at the popular "Star-Search" copycat show wanted to keep abreast of what was being written about their new Diva darling who caught the imagination of folks around the country in recent weeks.

On occasion, when a new follower joins the ranks, I take a poke or two in a follow-up (no pun intended) post.

In an odd-ball sort-of-way, it's kind of like an initiation rite frat boys are subjected to.

For example, after Adam Lambert fans became avid readers of my tongue-in-check musings, I took a bit of a humorous jab at Adam and the sudden trappings of his success.

No problem, though!

They ate it all up and have been hanging around pining for more.

Just gluttons for punishment!

Likewise, when Ellen Fans started to follow, I fanned the flames a bit by putting the spotlight squarely on their perky talk-show host and some of her quirks and misses for a day or two.

Yup, American Idol was a perfect target for my blend of humor, too.

So, I excitedly plunked myself down at the PC one morning and penned - what I thought - was a hilarious fun jab at Cowell and contestants like Adam Lambert who have appeared on the talent showcase for up-and-coming pop singers.

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2009/06/american-idolno-1-tv-entertainment-show.html

In fact, judging by the reaction of my regular readers & Lambert fans, the post was a hoot!

ALF folks quickly pinged my blog site, linked the insightful humorous hang-dog Valentine to a handful of entertainment (and fan) sites around the globe, and so forth, and so on.

However, American Idol was not - as the (um) Queen would say - "amused".

On the heels of publishing the post at high-traffic web sites I am part 'n parcel to both here and abroad, American Idol pulled the plug!

Yup, the spoil sports stopped "following" within a measly twenty-four hours of signing on.

What hypocrites!

Each week Cowell and his gang of hollow has beens trot contestants out in the spotlight - and then mercilessly - proceed to shamelessly toss darts at (in some cases totally humiliate) their targets to rustle up a cheap laugh.

Ah, but when the shoe is on the other foot, Cowell heads straight for the Fox dugout.

Cowell, in particular, can dish it out - but in the final analysis - can't take it when the tables are turned.

Indeed, all the wide smiles and mugging for camera, is nothing more than a public-relations ploy.

In truth, the cads at AI are a humorless cast of conceited talent-show-lizards (related once removed by their cousins, the lounge lizardsl) with all the personality and charm of a can of earth worms.

Just betcha, that when the lights go down on the sound stage and the 1st Assistant cries out - "It's a wrap" - that the whole sorry lot of 'em scurry back under the rocks from whence they came.

Regular readers one "truism" I posted on my blog a few months ago.

"Mediocrity is the opiate of the masses."

Uh-huh!

Cowell and his gang of whores are the worst purveyors to sling it in the TV Show ratings game.

Adam steals whole enchilada!
