Gene Simmons...to propose to Shannon Tweed tonight! Family Jewels romantic drama unfolds!

After a rift threatened to cast their love nest asunder, and therapy shed healing light on the obvious, Gene Simmons (KISS) is ready to get down on bended knee and propose to long time gal-pal Shannon Tweed (mother of their two darling kids).

Will Shannon accept the rose?

In a sneak preview at the dramatic close of the last episode, audiences watched with bated breath, as Simmons trekked off to a trendy jewelry boutique to select an appropriate engagement ring.

"Do you think Shannon will like this one," he quizzed a confidante, after pointing out a rock that must have been several carats in weight and worth a small fortune in coin of-the-realm.

"Of course, it's huge!"

Just betcha, that what's kept these lovebirds together all these years, eh?

Something huge!

Inquiring minds want to know!

Tune in tonight for an episode that's sure to be romantic and memorable!

Family Jewels...Gene Simmons & Shannon Tweed on the rocks?

"Family Jewels", the reality show, shifted gears last night - at which point - a flood of erratic emotions pulled the carpet out-from-under Rocker Gene Simmons.

Shocker!

After twenty-seven years of being lovey-dovey - and raising two darling kids - Shannon Tweed (a twitter pal) stormed out on her once-smug bed-mate with the crinkly "do".

"I'm going to a Hotel," Shannon managed to utter up, before she slipped out the door of the sumptuous mansion in a bit of a daze.

What triggered the split?

The groupies, according to Ms. Tweed, a former playboy model.

"He's obviously still trying to prove something. But, when will it end," she wondered to her sister, who took her in a scant few hours later when the startling news spread like wildfire in their circle of family and friends.

At one point, the pretty blond fessed up about her worst fears.

"I don't want to be replaced by a younger version of myself," she lamented.

Ouch!

Her children - and a sister - reacted angrily to the musician's selfish immature behavior by the way.

"Why don't you go to a Hotel," Tweed's sibling hissed at Simmons when she strode by him in the hall on her way to pack up a handful of Shannon's personal belongings.

"You suck right now," she angrily spouted off, almost as an afterthought, in he aftermath.

Cut to Gene Simmons down-in-the-dumps and face-to-face with his therapist solemnly discussing the sad unexpected turn-of-events.

"I hate losing control," he confided in the cool-headed blond guiding him through the emotional process.

"I guess because I am a big Rock Star - and rich - that I don't like to have to check in with anyone," he admitted at-long-last.

"Deep down, I know it is all nonsense."

The showdown with Shannon triggered deep-rooted fears and awful truths about himself.

Talk about a dark night of the soul!

"I need her," he finally acknowledged. But, it's difficult to admit."

His son, Nick, was also pissed with him for allowing the situation to escalate.

"You always called us up on things," he reminded Gene.

"Dad, if some guy hurt your mother, what should you do?"

"Confront the guy," Gene shot back.

"Something to think about," Nick mused, as he strode off to leave Simmons to mull over the dilemma.

In the end, Nick orchestrated an outing at a jazz bar, with the ultimate aim of hooking his parents up on the sly at the Nightclub.

What a manipulator, eh?

Once Gene caught sight of Shannon alone across the packed house, he sulked for a moment, then took charge of the situation.

The aging Lothario strode over to Shannon to make peace, you betcha!

In minutes, the lovebirds were hugging and making up?

Well, so Gene thought.

Until, the stilted couple returned to estate, where Shannon proceeded to trot upstairs.

"Where are you going," he quizzed.

"Upstairs to pack."

Without hesitation, Gene took her hand and pulled her into his loving arms.

"I built this home for you and the kids. You're going to stay here forever."

A bit cliche, I know.

And - most certainly - mushy!

The truth of the matter?

Most couples have to make a decision about the road they're going to travel - either with their chosen significant other - or alone in the alternative.

When the therapist asked Gene what he would do to get Shannon back, he replied in two words.

"Almost anything."

Almost?

Well, I guess their future as a couple hinges on that one word, eh?

Once Gene recognizes that refusing to give up his tom-catting (and groupies) may end his precious relationship, he'll have to decide which is more important.

Is it his freedom or a loving nurturing relationship?

If  I interpreted the signals right, at 61, Gene Simmons is about to finally grow up.

Otherwise, the over-the-hill rock star, may end up like Hugh Hefner.

Don't 'ya think?

Big Brother..."Open Call" Auditions in San Francisco! Saturday April 16th!

One of night-time televisions's long-time survivors on the reality-show circuit - "Big Brother" - is rolling in to town to cast a wide net for fresh talent to feature on the upcoming season on CBS.

In response, a swarm of excited hopefuls are expected to descend on the "open call" tomorrow in downtown San Francisco to try their luck at landing a coveted spot on the popular highly-rated bill-of-fare.

With that in mind, casting Director Robyn Kass - who has hand-picked sexy contestants for "The Bachelor" and the "Bachelorette" in the recent past - has offered up a handful of tips to ensure the audition process runs smoothly for starry-eyed talents anxious to break into spotlight and roar on to infamey in pop culture.

For starters, Kass urges potential candidates to be at ease while they're on the hot seat.

"Just come in a good mood and talk to us like you're taking to your best friends," she stressed in a recent upbeat interview with the local press.

"There are certain people you are just naturally drawn to. It may be the way they talk, laugh, move, yell, use their hands, express themselves. It's something intriguing about them that makes us want to hear more. There are just certain people out there who are great at capturing our attention, without trying too hard."

In a nutshell?

Don't look desperate, eh?

When it come to the issue of a "look", Kass underscored the importance of dressing sharp.

Don't wear "costumes" in a bold-faced effort to "call attention" to your - um - fantastic personality, though.

If you read between the lines - the message rings out - crystal clear.

Avoid going for "broke' or being too over-the-top!

Ms. Kass stressed that "Big Brother" does not have their eye out for any specific types at the auditions tomorrow.

"Every city we go to we hope to find unique, colorful personalities. We don't have any specific expectations for San Fran, but we do expect everyone to show up with their "A" game."

A final bit of advice to get prepped for the big day?

"Get a good night sleep before hand. If ou look good and feel good your chances will be better. Please come with stories to back up anything you tell us. For example, if you say you are conniving, you better have some stories in your real life to back up why you would say that. Don't just say that just to say it."

Parting words?

"If you're a fan of Big Brother GO FOR IT! Now is your chance."

Okie-Dokie!

Break a leg, eh?

Dancing with the Stars...Kirstie Alley hoofs! Sequined shopsy sausage debut!

Kirstie pretty beneath all the lard!

"Cheeky," roared Bruno Tonioli , as the studio audience hooted-and-hollered, and a dolled up Kirstie Alley struggled to catch her breath, after a pretty dazzling spin on the the dance floor last night at ABC TV Studios.

In fact, right up 'til the vote count, her "girls"continued to heave heavily from the strain of the high-spirited strenuous work-out she'd just performed to perfection (according to the excited Judges, that is).

On her much-ballyhooed "opening night" on "Dancing with the Stars", the former "Cheers" star (once-married to the "big one" Parker Stevenson") was ecstatic for having nabbed kudos from the cooing (normally-discerning) eagle-eyed adjudicators on the sidelines.

Unfortunately, the par-tay frock Ms. Alley tossed on accentuated the unsightly and the obese - um - obvious (to her frumpy detriment).

The body-fitting threads (cut high-on-the-leg and low-on-the-chest) cried out for the Fashion Police to storm the stage - spread-eagle the ballsy-bimbo-babe, cuff-her - and haul her off for a stint in flab rehab (to be sure!).

Kirstie's appearance was somewhat reminiscent of a sequined sausage (from my bird's eye in the wings).

Free-floating fabric would have been preferable to the "stuffed-in" (hanging-out?) look that - inevitably - failed to conceal a truckload of midnight munchies that had taken their toll on her once body-electric of starlet yesteryears.

To her credit, Ms. Alley elected to trot out in chic black, and avoided the perils of dreaded (God-awful) bold-patterns-extraordinaire (think mu mu) that hefty gals are inclined to don when they hunker down in search of a security blanket.

If Ms. Alley hires on a skilled fashion designer in coming weeks - a wizard sensitive to her special needs - the remainder of her stint on "Dancing with the Stars" may be worth tuning into.

Kirstie, I say a little prayer for you!

Kourtney Kardashian...to tie knot! Scott Disick proposes!

The scuttlebutt streaking through the blogosphere today focuses on the up-coming trot down-the-aisle for reality-show beauty Kourtney Kardashian.

According to inside sources, her hunk of man-love - Scott Disick - proposed on the season finale which has already been lensed.

Folks, the love-sick couple (mostly troubled) tried to keep it a secret!

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

Uh-huh!

By the by, the celeb - famous for being famous - piped up "I do" without blinking a pretty eyelash!

Expect some fireworks on the family front, though.

Handlers have confided that sister Kloe is not happy with the future husband-to-be!

Meanwhile, Kourtney is anxious to show-off the "bling", gifted her.

Did the dude splurge on a dazzling sparkler?

All will be revealed when the edge-of-your-seat closing chapter of the dishy series broadcasts in April!

The Hoff...David Hasselhoff's reality shake-up!

In the first episode of David Hasselhoff's reality TV show, the troubled actor underscored that life was not a bed of roses at 57 years of age.

In a playful moment of truth, he also admitted that he was broke and starting over.

"I spent my money on personal things," he shrugged.

Hence, the reason for launching the reality-show - a potential cash cow - expected to calm the troubled waters.

In some respects, reality shows of this ilk (that toss the glare of the spotlight on the innermost thoughts, hopes and demons of a fading Lothario) are a last gasp effort to regain a foothold (but ultimately end up being a form of prostitution at its worst level).

In sum, the scenario is not unlike one where the desperate sell their soul to the devil (or the highest bidder).

Notwithstanding, Hasselhoff swears he'll never become the German "Elvis".

That, in spite of the fact the former soap hunk (Y & R) still has a loyal following in Europe.

In fact, he's a timeless sex symbol over there, in spite of humiliating Hoff sightings on YouTube in recent months that have been demoralizing and none-too-flattering.

Sadly, Hoff's kids have been dragged on-board to his discredit.

In sum, they are the spoiled offspring of the petty bourgeoise.

Once the amusing odd-ball bill-of-fare cranks up, it's obvious that Mr. Hasselhoff is in hot water because of a lack of priorities (common sense and intelligence, too).

For example, he cries the blues about his financial dilemma, one moment - then, without batting-an-eye - fails to put his foot down when a charlatan arrives at the house to use her "psychic" gifts to analyze the family dog for big bucks.

Hoff and his kiddies are the ones who need their heads examined, if you really want to get real about it.

Worse than that?

During the course of the show - when Hasselhoff is inclined to philosophize now-and-then about life and its potential downfalls, it's paintfully obvious that "The Hoff" is simply a case of the blind leading the bland.

In sum, "Hoff" is an overblown piece of self-indulgent fluff.

No wonder terrorists want to snuff out North American culture!

Jet Blue...$119.00 sale! Fly frigid skies with Sarah Palin!

Jet Blue officials have announced they'll be ceremoniously launching flights into Sarah Palin's frigid skies - auspicious by Hollywood standards - starting May 26th (2011).

As Ms. Palin throws-open her scandalous folksy back-woods-door to white trailer trash around the country - by virtue of a reality TV vehicle fathomed up by demon meister Mark Burnett - Jet Blue has opted to jump into the eye-of-the-icy-storm - too - with its bid to schedule routes to the great White North.

Now, Palin fans - hooked on the tawdry low-brow soap that is her scripted scatter-brained life - will probably venture forth on a tour under the Northern Lights (even plunk down some cash to go ice fishing, perhaps).

To rustle up interest in the spring thaw, Jet Blue is having a seat sale featuring one-way flights, for a paltry $119.00 a pop.

The limited offer takes off tomorrow/

I expect passengers will be sipping on tea tea - in flight - to keep their innards warm (though hot toddies sound pretty awesome to moi).

Ironically,  the Jet Blue birds jets out of Long Beach (where the Queen Mary Royally rests in harbour now) to Alaska where another Queen (of the Tea Party variety) holds court in the land of the Eskimo and big game hunting!

Although adventurers may have to pay through the nose, die-hard fans of the political upstart, will probably cough up the dough pronto.

You only live once, eh?

I expect there will be tours of the middle school she romanced the1st stud at, an up-close peak at the stage where she grabbed for the brass ring at an annual Beauty Pageant, in addition to action-packed sled treks through the winter wonderland.

To use one of her own best phrases, you betcha!

Tila Tequila...stoned on stage! Sexy tease angers fans!

Slutty star does not always cause rise in Levi's!

A sensual strut - that some dudes at the packed concert perceived as a slutty low-class tease - triggered a posse of rowdy rockers to lob rocks at perky reality star Tila Tequila.

The "Gathering of the Juggalos" concert (Hardin County, Ill.) turned ugly, in fact.

Amidst a swirl of confusion, Tequila swore up-and-down that she was not responsible for the mob scene which erupted on Saturday.

"I went onstage and immediately, before I even got to the center, dudes were throwing huge stone rocks in my face, beer bottles that slit my eye open, almost burnt my hair...'cause they threw fire crackers on stage."

Heavy duty, man!

A wild drama concocted to drum up much-needed publicity, perchance?

The County Sheriff's office confirmed that Tequila (A shot of  Love /MTV) confessed that she was injured by music-lovers who attended the concert.

But, officials have not released any additional details pending an investigation.

One performer - also booked for the event - confirmed to CNN that Tequila was mobbed by hundreds of fans who chased her off the stage.

"She was taunting them," he accused amidst a handful of excited onlookers from the sidelines.

"She didn't know how to handle the swarms of fans. She took her top off and they got really violent," another observant bystander noted to the paparazzi.

Apparently, Tequila twittered plans to file a lawsuit against the concert organizers, but I missed the tweet.

"Pretty soon the owners who run the "Juggalos" will be bankrupt. My attorney Alan is already on it. This is disgusting behavior from men," she wailed to all within earshot.

With a nod to Jimmy Fallon, I say:

"There outta be a law against earthy reality TV show stars from flipping off their enhanced D-cups disguised as cheezy bikini-tops."

Celebrity...Sarah Palin & I have something in common! Autograph, please...

Fame!

Now, I'm beginning to fully understand what talk show hosts mean, when they probe their celebrity guests as to whether they can still go "out".

Of course, heartthrobs like Justin Bieber get mobbed on sight, heightening the possibility that the pint-sized performer might get crushed in a madcap rush.

Even famous people - of a lesser degree of visability - encounter awkward or unsettling moments when they stray alone into the real world.

Frankly, it wasn't until I roared into Vegas a few days ago, that it dawned on me that the curse of fame had descended upon me, too.

For some inexplicable reason, as quick as a wink, my mug has become instantly recognizable among the masses which startles and amazes me.

I'm not starring in my own night-time drama, after all.

Not yet, at least!

Say, what about a reality show featuring my blog?

Wonders never cease!

But, back to my tale of debauchery and fame.

When I am sitting in traffic these days - a thousand eyes from all vantage points turn in my direction - and I am forced to twiddle my thumbs and act nonchalantly for sanity's sake until the frigging light changes!

In fast-food take-out joints, a sort-of sleeping paralysis takes hold, when  the patrons learn of my identity one by one.

After a man and his wife spied me on the street yesterday, the lady looked back and hesitated.

"Should  I say something," she wondered aloud in a slight whisper.

Needless to say, I moved on.

I wasn't up to a close encounter of the third kind.

One of the funniest incidents occurred at McDonalds over the weekend.

As I noted in a previous post, the Wi-Fi was down at my Hotel, so I dashed out with computer in hand to avail myself of the free access at an outlet just across from the Sahara Hotel.

As this locaton, however, there was only one plug available for patrons.

So, I plunked down - plugged in - and tuned out.

As I was in the midst of polishing a paragraph, I had a burning sensation that someone's eyes were fixed tightly on me.

When I looked up, I was startled to find myself eyeball-to-eyeball with a motorist.

Uh-huh.

Turns out the drive-thru order station was just a few inches beyond my comfy perch on the other side of the picture window.

Without fail, every few minutes or so - when a hungry driver pulled up to order fries and a burger  - the scenario would start up all over again ad nauseam.

On each occasion, I slumped lower and lower in my chair, in a clandestine effort to hide my identity.

Later, I kicked myself.

I suppose I should have crafted a sign in an elegant script and offered up my autograph at $5.00 a pop.

Kidding!

One morning a twenty-something male actually followed me for about three blocks.

But, if he thought he was "tailing" me without my knowledge, he was dead-wrong.

I took a course in private investigations and was taught quite a few cool skills that come in handy to this day.

It is particularly disconcerting when I am lost in thought (reflecting on the right turn of a phrase for a post perhaps ) and it suddenly becomes painfully obvious - that I am being scrutinized from all-manner of folks from myriad walks of life within a twenty-or-thirty-foot perimeter (and then some).

OMG!

Did I appear to be talking to myself?

I have noticed these days that a few Latinos stare at me, probably because I gave the nod to the Nevada Governor, to sign into law the controversial Immigration Reform Bill.

You betcha.

Sarah Palin and I finally have one thing in common.

We're both on the Latino "hit" list.

Sometimes the behavior of some folks astounds me.

For example, I was on a shuttle bus provided by a Hotel one fine day, when I stood up and started to exit the bus.

I suddenly noticed  a woman - in a seat just forward - waiting for me to pass by first.

"Go ahead, Miss," I instructed politely.

A curious scenario also unfolds when I approach an open door around the same time others are about to enter it, too.

The strangers suddenly acquiesce (slow down) to allow me to go first.

I scoff at the notion that I deserve preferential treatment for some inexplicable reason.

I'll let you in on a secret, though.

The whole experience is quite exhausting.

Because I am constantly in the public eye, I am forced to maintain an energy level on par with my image, which can be a pretty draining charade to keep up in spite of the fact I am a robust man physically, mentally, and spiritually.

At times, I feel like I am walking in a dream world, when the madding crowd gazes on.

There is a thin line between reality and illusion, after all.

I try to stay grounded and down-to-earth for survival's sake.

With the knowledge that God appears in the humblest of places, of course!

Oprah Winfrey...OWN network to feature reality show & travelogue!

Oprah Winfrey intends to throw her considerable weight behind a couple of new shows she’ll launch in the New Year on her own network deep in the heart of cable land.

“My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day,” the once top-ratings-getter announced this past week.

What about when they’re down 'n out and suffering the blues?

Ah, superficial old money-bags-Oprah is at it again.

On the occasion of her 25th Anniversary, the in-your-face ego-driven talk how host threw in the towel at ABC, after noting to a dubious press that it “felt right in her bones” to move on.

One offering slated to broadcast on the OWN  network is - Visionaries - which will focus on artists and the creative process.

At press time, it was announced there will be in-depth profiles on Lady Gaga and James Cameron (for starters!) to look forward to.

There will also be a reality show utilizing behind-the-scenes footage from the last season of the Oprah Winfrey show which she produced.

Just betcha die-hard fans will lap up shots of Oprah cruising into the studio in her luxury sedan, undergoing transformations (!) in the make-up chair, and heading up pep talks with the show’s head honchos.

But taking a bath?

Old flubber will need a ton or two of suds to hide all that blubber from the prying eyes of her fans!

In the flagship show - Oprah’s New Chapter - the ambitious voice piece will take the whole kit ’n kaboodle on the road and explore the four corners of the earth at whim (from the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall of China - and I expect - to a babbling brook or two in-between if it takes her fancy).

The rotund little whirlwind has promised there will a hands-on approach at the spanking new baby network.

“My sleeves are all rolled up all the way they can be,” she chirped.

The OWN network is a joint venture between Harpo Inc. (Oprah’s production company) and Discovery Communications, Inc. slated to start-up at the stroke of midnight 2011.

Two previous start-dates misfired, so I expect at this juncture, Oprah is crossing her stubby little fingers and praying to the Gods of cable to pull through for her.

To many, the career move is a step down - in spite of the fact the principals are projecting a viewership of 80 million - in the shadow of media giants NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, CNN.

Break a nail, Oprah!

Sarah Palin...stand-up comic routine laughable! Ice Queen not funny...

Jay Leno offers up stand-up tips!

Palin clan to flaunt dirty laundry in reality show!
(how I spent my fall vacation)

After catching Sarah Palin's attempt at stand-up comedy on the Jay Leno show, the casual observer may find it a snap to fathom why (at long last) there was such a frenzied (back-stabbing fuss) over the recent late-night talk-show wranglings.

Stand-up is not an easy row to hoe, after all!

In Palin's case in particular.

For starters - like her bid for VP in the last election alongside hapless-hopeful John McCain - her timing (if you can call it that) was way-off.

In fact, her stale low-key fodder (meant to ingratiate) amounted to a series of one-liners tossed out at break-neck speed without much style or panache.

Instead, the forced quips fell flat.

Part of the problem, as any seasoned pro will attest to, is that Palin failed to recognize the importance of the "pause".

While it is not always required that it  "refresh", it should certainly not reflect that a comic is slipping into actual meno-pause (for image sake, at least).
George Burns and Jack Benny were masters at stand-up.

And, the former Ice Queen could use a little help in the recovery department, too.

Dave Letterman, King of the "dead joke" syndrome, is a good role model in that regard.

For instance, if Letterman goes out on a limb - and off-kilter out-of-whack material R.I.P.'s on stage - the toothy comedian is always able to turn the flub into a humorous moment.

Unfortunately for Palin, that's a skill she's not going to pick up overnight since the ability to turn a disaster into a side-splitting hilarious jolt of laughter (and wild applause) requires years of treading the boards in whiskey joints and concert halls around the heartland.

A well-written joke - even a funny one - is not always going to triumph unless the elements - emphasis , rhythm, timely appeal - are all in tandem.

Palin tended to be more like a juggler who dropped her pins mid-flight than one who was just humming along in control with the audience tightly-held in greased palm.

That issue aside, Palin is definitely not one to rest on her laurels, though.

In fact, if the scuttlebutt be true, the gun-toting fur-bearing former Governor, is planning a come-back of sorts (to ressurect herself in the eyes of die-hard Republicans around the nation) by way of a spanking new tome.

There should be enough fodder to rustle up a gaggle of  talk-show appearances - at which point  - the feisty Northern Hunter may feel more comfortable in front of a critical audience out to lynch her normally.

Then, there's the reality show!

Uh-huh.

One of the popular gossip tabloids spilled the beans that Palin & family may be inviting the searing eye of the tawdry reality show circuit  into her Alaskan igloo for an up-close lookie-loo.

At this point, the spunky go-getter, appears to be the little ice sled that could.

Shannon Tweed tweets...Gene Simmons Family Jewels premieres June 7th!

A short while ago, Shannon noted in a tweet that Gene Simmons Family Jewels was picked up for a fifth season.

In-between tweets on house-shopping in Santa Barbara - and a confession now and then about a little pampering at chi chi day spas - there were occasional tidbits about shooting schedules as the popular show positioned itself to broadcast for the new season.

In an update yesterday, Shannon cheerfully announced that the premiere episode would be unveiled on June 7th on the A&E Channel (Sophie's Sweet Sixteen).

I cruised over to the A&E website and discovered that - prior to the big night - fans have the opportunity to toss their two cents worth in.

Yup, AETV.com is inviting viewers to vote on their favorite episode of Family Jewels.

Once the tally is complete, the top five episodes selected, will air on A&E on Sunday June 7th as a lead into the Season Four premiere of Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

The Fifteen "runner-up" episodes chosen will be streamed on AETV.com June 5 to June 7.

And, that's good news for die-hard fans, who will be treated to a full weekend of rip-roaring Gene Simmons Family Jewels entertainment.

Vote:

Shannon, thanks for that!
