Sarah Ferguson...snake-oil saleswoman Oprah Winfrey manipulates Duchess!

On the heels of crying the blues - and hitting the high-energy talk-show circuit to plug her spanking-new "docu-series" (Finding Sarah) - the latest chapter of Sarah Ferguson's sorry saga spewed out over the broadcast airwaves to titillate the country once again this past week.

Has the woman no shame?

Well, if 'ya ask me, Oprah Winfrey - who made a gracious exit from network television last week - is largely to blame for the tawdry fiasco!

In fact, once the "Sarah and Oprah" interview aired yesterday - to launch the much-ballyhooed "tell-all" - it was quite evident to me that Big "O" is nothing more than a clever snake-oil-saleswoman out to rustle up controversy, boost ratings, and selfishly tout her dubious bill-of-fare at the OWN network.

For example, when Sarah Ferguson was caught red-handed influence-peddling last year in an undercover sting, the cast-out Royal fessed up that she fell victim to the temptation because - she was not only "broke" - but had also hit rock-bottom emotionally.

At this juncture, Oprah - who claimed to be a "good friend" - entered into discussions with Sarah about the development of a vehicle aimed at rehabilitating Ferguson's image in the public eye on the OWN Network.

"Why not a series on cooking," Sarah allegedly suggested to her pal, as she struggled to swallow her pride in a desperate hour of need.

Personally, I believe that the idea for the culinary show was an excellent way to go, for a couple of reasons.

For starters, it would have brought much-needed funds into the coffers - and thus - provided the wherewithal for the former Duchess of York to support herself and her children.

In addition, the cooking spot would have slowly restored Sarah's flaky image to the public-at-large around this country and across the big pond.

Mission: Accomplished!

But, for some inexplicable reason, Oprah elected to offer up a show that would "toss a spotlight" on Sarah's lack of good judgment and fall from Grace in the past.

More scurrilous, perhaps, was Oprah's deceitful decision to draw on the professional assistance of two network personalities (Dr. Phil, for one) she has been vigorously promoting - in what amounts to - a "spotty" television schedule (full of holes).

Oprah's conduct was (and is) particularly outrageous when you consider one obvious fact.

Near the end of the interview, after playing back tapes of the upcoming segments of "Finding Sarah", Oprah actually concludes to Sarah (and her viewing audience) that Prince Andrew's former spouse essentially got into trouble because she was too vulnerable and too trusting.

"So, people were able to take advantage of you," Oprah summarized in so many words.

Ironic, that!

In the final analysis, Oprah Winfrey was guilty of the same cruel and unusual outrageous conduct.

If Oprah really cared about Sarah (some friend!) she would have signed on the flaming red-headed beauty for a cooking show.

Instead, she elected to manipulate Ms. Ferguson into a reality-based docu-series about a tawdry scandal from the past, in order to boost her ratings, and also promote Dr. Phil (and a money guru she's also pushing) on her fledgling network.

In sum, Oprah is just another shark, circling the treacherous waters for innocent prey.

Does Big "O" think we were all born yesterday?

Talk about disreputable conduct!

Shame on you, Oprah.

"Finding Sarah" broadcasts on June 12th (2011).

You be the judge!

Jay Leno Show...Helen Hunt a control freak! Snatches cue cards from host's hands!

Surf is up!
(so was Hunt's ire!)

Over the years, make-up and wardrobe personnel at the studios (and in the employ of Independent Film companies) have tittered that Oscar Award-Winning actress - Helen Hunt - was difficult to work with.

After Ms. Hunt's appearance on the Jay Leno Show last night - it was quite evident to the multitudes that the normally low-key movie star is not only a control freak - but an ill-mannered guest to contend with!

Bookers on the late-night circuit beware!

An old Chinese proverb says it all.

"Never insult a host in his own home."

If you want to be asked back, that is.

So, what was all the brouhaha about?

When the talented thespian (who has played opposite respected biggies in the industry like megastar Jack Nicholson) was asked to participate in a quiz about surfing, a short way into the upbeat segment - the pushy broad not only balked at some of the questions - but was inclined to snatch the cue cards right out of Jay's sweaty palm!

Mr. Leno reacted politely, in spite of her outrageous behavior, but was obviously startled by Hunt's insulting conduct and lack of sense of humor (judging by the expression on his face).

Hunt was on the top-rated talk show to tout her new feature which is about the gripping real-life tale of a female surfer (which has been adapted for the Silver Screen) who lost her arm in a shark attack.

Hunt, getting on in years, was cast to play the mother for obvious reasons.

Because the ultra thin (she was all bones if 'ya ask moi) actress boasted to be a surfer, Jay was posed a few questions - understandably so - in an amusing bold-faced effort to sort-out the lingo surfers often coolly spit out as they dart off to hang ten.

Ms. Hunt wasn't put off by the first expression "gnarly", but - not surprisingly- she didn't get it quite right.

When Jay offered up the next expression - "tubed" - she reacted suspiciously (just betcha, she thought she was going to be the brunt of some twisted on-camera joke).

At this juncture, the ice Queen not only went through the roof, but committed the unthinkable.

Uh-huh!

Hunt put a halt to this phase of the interview, and did so, without an apology.

Across the country, I expect viewers at home were screaming at their television sets.

"Bit**!"

And, how was your day?

Ryan Seacrest...cheating drama on radio compelling! Ballsy risk-taking...

You expect me to believe that?

Did you happen to catch the drama unfold on Ryan Seacrest's morning talk show today?

Whew!

Ryan, that was pretty ballsy, didn't think you had it in 'ya!

The scenario went something like this.

On the premise that 3 dozen flowers were being given away to a winning contestant, Ryan and his staff, coaxed an unsuspecting husband down the garden path (!) right into the jaws of a steely trap that would effectively land the cheater in the doghouse with his faithful wife and his di** in the wringer.

When the gentleman (scoundrel?) was roused from a deep slumber (sounded that way, to me) he was duly informed that he not only won the precious prize, but was also granted the option of having the pretty fragrant bouquets delivered right to the door of the object of his love (passion?).

Without much hesitation, the foggy-headed dude instructed Ryan's partner in crime, to deliver the flowers to a gal by the name of "Abigail" in Wisconsin.

And, he requested that a note be attached to say how much he "missed her".

Just before he was about to hang-up, though, Ryan asked a troubling question.

"Who is Abigail?" Ryan and his crew probed.

Huh?

Within minutes, Seacrest was all over him like flies on sh**.

"Aren't you married, Sir?"

The silence on the end of the phone was deafening.

Say what?

"Are you having an affair with this woman?"

No, he protested, "we're just friends".

One of Seacrest's co-workers tried to pin him down further.

"Did you sleep with her?"

No, we just had dinner, he asserted.

"Did you have drinks?"

Ryan went in for the kill at this juncture.

"You've been away from home for months. Why would you send the roses to Abigail instead of your wife?  It doesn't sound right, dude," he concluded snidely.

But, now for the finale.

The man's wife chimed in on the other end of the line!

"Can't we talk about this at home?"

"Maybe you would rather go to Wisconcin," she blurted out angrily.

And, you thought that Jerry Springer was titillating.

Good on you, Ryan!

Can a reality show be in the offing?

Oprah Winfrey...OWN network to feature reality show & travelogue!

Oprah Winfrey intends to throw her considerable weight behind a couple of new shows she’ll launch in the New Year on her own network deep in the heart of cable land.

“My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day,” the once top-ratings-getter announced this past week.

What about when they’re down 'n out and suffering the blues?

Ah, superficial old money-bags-Oprah is at it again.

On the occasion of her 25th Anniversary, the in-your-face ego-driven talk how host threw in the towel at ABC, after noting to a dubious press that it “felt right in her bones” to move on.

One offering slated to broadcast on the OWN  network is - Visionaries - which will focus on artists and the creative process.

At press time, it was announced there will be in-depth profiles on Lady Gaga and James Cameron (for starters!) to look forward to.

There will also be a reality show utilizing behind-the-scenes footage from the last season of the Oprah Winfrey show which she produced.

Just betcha die-hard fans will lap up shots of Oprah cruising into the studio in her luxury sedan, undergoing transformations (!) in the make-up chair, and heading up pep talks with the show’s head honchos.

But taking a bath?

Old flubber will need a ton or two of suds to hide all that blubber from the prying eyes of her fans!

In the flagship show - Oprah’s New Chapter - the ambitious voice piece will take the whole kit ’n kaboodle on the road and explore the four corners of the earth at whim (from the Taj Mahal to the Great Wall of China - and I expect - to a babbling brook or two in-between if it takes her fancy).

The rotund little whirlwind has promised there will a hands-on approach at the spanking new baby network.

“My sleeves are all rolled up all the way they can be,” she chirped.

The OWN network is a joint venture between Harpo Inc. (Oprah’s production company) and Discovery Communications, Inc. slated to start-up at the stroke of midnight 2011.

Two previous start-dates misfired, so I expect at this juncture, Oprah is crossing her stubby little fingers and praying to the Gods of cable to pull through for her.

To many, the career move is a step down - in spite of the fact the principals are projecting a viewership of 80 million - in the shadow of media giants NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, CNN.

Break a nail, Oprah!

Jesse Hasselbeck...View host puts down bloggers. Dumb blond syndrome!

Hasselbeck dumb blond on far right...

On a Hollywood gossip show this morning, Jesse Hasselbeck - one of those professional gabbers from the "View" - accused bloggers of being nit-picky and hysterical in respect to the controversial issues surfacing over Sarah Palin's odd-ball entrance into the big-time political arena in Washington, D.C.

The issues are hardly petty by any stretch of the imagination!

Her attacks on intelligent ethically-minded individuals - who are concerned about the future of this country - are easily to fathom, though.

After all, Hasselbeck is a republican - rooting on the sidelines for a woman to smash the "glass ceiling" - and go the distance in the current political race for the White House.

Who does she think she's fooling?

In sum, the B-list TV personality has single handedly revived the old image of the dumb blond.

It's curious, though, because she has dark roots.

Just another Hollywood phoney, I guess!
