Twitter...Las Vegas following me! Golly...

Last night I got quite a surprise when I clicked on a Twitter update.

Vegas is following me.

Golly, I hit the jackpot.

After all, I don't recall ever having a city's fans follow me before.

Maybe the Mayor will present me with a key to "Sin City" on the heels of this enviable honor?

And, why not, I'm a likely candidate!

A flurry of upbeat posts I penned on the desert oasis this past week must have cheered up die-hard fans considerably.

Until I sauntered into town at High Noon, Vegas stalwarts were crying the blues about slumping Hotel reservations - and a staggering loss of revenue due to the failed economy - that had turned Bugsy's little gem upside down.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

I must have hit the target with mouth-watering posts about 99 cent Daiquiris, scrumptious deep-fried oreos, and the bevy of bodacious babes that serve 'em up with a come-hither look @ Mermaids at the Fremont Street experience nightly.

Obviously, night owls were also delighted with a video clip that featured the eye-popping marquee @ Glitter Gulch, a prestigious Gentleman's club.

Indeed!

Entertaining footage featuring a sensational saxophone player (local musician Carl Ferris), a charismatic country-rock performer by the name of Scotty Alexander, and an Alice Cooper tribute band obviously scored big on the richter scale, as well.

The dazzling light shows captured on HD Video were pretty much a sensory knock-out, too.

While the last-minute jaunt to Vegas wasn't too expensive (I rustled up a spacious suite at rock-bottom prices at Expedia last-minute) the impromptu trek turned out to be quite fortuitous.

After documenting four sun-drenched fun-filled days & exotic starry nights in the destination hot spot, I am the toast of the town.

In contrast, Harvey Feirstein was nearly tarred & feathered and banned from the glitzy Vegas strip, for criticizing the powers-that-be for trimming the length of Broadway Shows that hit town.

Nothing personal, Harvey.

In a nutshell, it all boils down to dollars and common sense.

Barack Obama...gay? Confidential e-mail says...

This past week, I penned a post on a speech Governor Jindal telecast to the American people - in which I hinted - that the Republican may be a closet-case (a member of the Velvet Mafia on Capital Hill, perhaps?) .

On the heels of that feature, a private e-mail alighted in my mailbox from a gentleman identifying himself as Mike Trevino.

What a revelation!

After noting for the record he couldn't comment on Jindal's sexuality, Trevino was inclined to assert that our newly-installed PREZ may be a "Queen"!

Here's what Mr. Trevino had to say verbatim:

"I found your blog's URL on Ancient Star-Song, decided to check it out, and found your paragraphs on Jindal. I don't know much about the man and I didn't watch more than a few minutes of his speech, so I can't say if I agree with you or not about the man's sexual preference."

"But do you really think that Obama isn't a queen? Have you not read the information online about his deep, dark homo secrets?"

"Do you know how to use Google? Check it out, dude."

"Obama is the swish you want to talk about!"

Las Vegas...Queen light & sound show tribute dazzles tourists at Fremont Experience!

The sky turned pitch black, a bolt of lightning zig-zagged across the night heavens, and a crack of thunder sent shivers up and down the spine.

Should Vegas tourists dash for cover before wild torrential rains descended upon 'em?

Naw.

The stormy outburst was simply an intro - albeit a spectacular one - to an awesome light & sound show on Fremont Street paying tribute to the legendary rock band "Queen".

A montage of captivating images - juxtaposed with the words and music of the gargantuan hit - "We are the Champions" - kept a rapt audience in thrall on the packed street below.

An earlier presentation - built upon a Classic hit - "American Pie" - was just as mesmerizing.

In fact - when shots of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King were seamlessly spliced with images of the turbulent sixties - the visual montage broke free from the realm of entertainment and transformed into a powerful social and political statement that truly reflected the era.

The overhead canopy - which is billed as the largest wide screen on the planet, was constructed in 1995.

Fremont Street officials boast there are not only 12 million LED lights firing up the screen nightly, but up a rousing 550,000 watt sound system to rock your world, too.

In addition to the must-see VIVA VISION extravaganza - which pays tribute to top-notch recording artists - a myriad of stage performers entertain tourists nightly for free.

When you consider that a handful of the local bars on the strip offer up drinks at bargain-basement prices (99 cent Margaritas, for instance) and snacks at cost (All American Hot Dogs at Mermaids are $1.07 with tax) that makes the Fremont Street experience a destination nightspot for naughty boys (and girls) out on a budget.
