Bingo...revival @ Riviera & Plaza Hotels in Vegas attacts hipper players!

"B52", an unidentified female cried out from the back of the hall.

"Bingo!"

A nattily-dressed middle-aged man whooped for joy before double-checking his cards for accuracy.

Ooops!

As it turned out, it was a forty-five year old red-faced Cougar - with candy-apple red lipstick smeared on her once-luscious pouty lips - who uttered up the cry that caused a bout of blues to sweep through the darkly-lit ballroom momentarily.

Uh-huh!

The embarrassed faded beauty was forced to fess up.

"I was flagging down the waitress ('ya got it) for a thirst-quenching B52 drinkie-pooh!"

Within a few minutes - after the nasty uproar simmered down a smidgen - die-hard Bingo fans were once again peering over their multi-colored cards contentedly as old age silently (and slowly) began to creep in.

Is this the way management at the Riviera expects the revival of Bingo to pan out each week at the down-on-its luck Hotel on the poor end of the strip when the competitions start up on August 12th?

Heck no, at least not if the big brass has any say in the matter, dudes & dudettes.

For good reason, consultants have been - well, consulted with - to determine if there is a silver lining in the them there gap pockets in "Bingo City" proper.

Accoring to Lou Hilford - with Loudon Consultations (with a busy office just North of the U.S. border in picturesque Vancouver B.C.) - the old image of bingo players (the blue-haired ladies fifty-five and older, puffing on a ciggie, with curlers intact, and a requisite cup of lead coffee in hand in a styrofoam cup) is more old hat than the gals who used to populate the once-smokey cozy little halls.

By the by, in West Hollywood (California), celebrity bingo has been all-the-rage at Hamburger Mary's for a few years now.

Though the dolled-up babes (with boy-toys in-tow) may be drag Queens - or exotic transsexuals - when it comes to donations for their favorite charities - they're no slouches in the fundraising department.

Maybe President Obama should toss a celebrity "balls" event at the White House now that times are getting tough.

Pink money is still coin of the realm, after all!

With the advent of electronics tossed into the mix, Hilford also predicts that smartly-attired dudes between the ages of twenty and forty years of age, will be giving the old dolls a run for their - um - balls too.

Other Casinos have caught the trend and are jumping on the big bingo-wagon too by jove!

The Plaza (just enovated with spanking new lofty climbs to relax and gamble in) is launching a tournament with a high stakes incentive - $150,000 big ones - in fact.

Alas, too late to slip into an easy chair to try your luck on that one, on the 24th of August.

The 1000-spot event is sold out, though hapless hopefuls are inclined to still wait in the wings for no-shows to free up a coveted seat or two the fun-filled soiree, which is obviously going to be one of the social highlights of the season.

The Riviera's 1800 seat extravaganza may have tickets still available though.

Go try your luck!

Westin Hotel...worst Casino and lodging in Las Vegas! Staff harass tourists! Joyless vacation spot!

Tourists who strolled through the Westin Casino (at Flamingo Road in Las Vegas) on Thursday afternoon to snap up a cup of java at Starbucks just off-the-lobby were quite distressed when they found themselves "victims" of a stalker in the employ of the one-star Hotel.

After zipping into the mensroom for a quick whiz on their way to the cafe, they encountered a floor manager standing in an intimidating manner giving them the once-over for no good reason, when they stepped into the empty lobby.

When they turned the corner to head in the direction of Starbucks, the employee with an alarming demeanor (in a puke-colored suit) proceeded to follow them across the lobby.

At one point, the out-of-towners were inclined to plunk themselves down and play a round-or-two of slots, but they were so put-off by the bizarre conduct of the individual in question, that they downed their drinks quickly and sped out the door to another Casino down the street.

Uh-huh!

Although the Westin was begging for customers, they still managed to let a whale or two out-the-door, go figure!

Great way to run a business concern, eh?

Subsequently, I am bestowing the Westin with the dubious title of "Worst Hotel" in Las Vegas!

Lady luck...Charms to hit the jackpot in Vegas Casinos! Wear dirty underwear!

They say when a guest strolls into a Casino for the first time to gamble, they are blessed with precious beginner's luck.

Then, once the streak goes kaput, there may be a need to walk away from the tables.

Of course, it is wholly possible to conjure up a little magic with the help of a lucky charm or two!

With that in mind, here is a sampling of wives's tales and superstitions which may put 'ya on the right track when you're down on your luck!

For starters, just as you're walking out the door of your bedroom at home (or at your hotel suite) be sure to turn the light on. According to a superstition, this will draw a "pot" of the coin of-the-realm to your humble abode.

Wear red underwear when you're placing your bets. The racy underwear may just trigger a ballsier sexier attitude which may go far with your betting technique at the gambling table.

Carry dice in your pocket. Be careful not to stroke 'em too much, though, or folks may think you're playing a little pocket pool underneath the poker table.

Where a charm in the shape of a horn (the horn of plenty) around your neck or on a wrist bracelet.

Place a mojo bag in your breast pocket out-of-sight (as close to your beating heart as possible) to attract positive money vibrations.

If your hot streak "cools down", then dash off to the rest room and take a dump. Don't know why this works, but it does, by golly.

When you're in the throes of a winning streak "go with it".

Don't bet on a horse at the races if the owner changed the animal's name.

Never count your cash while you're still gambling (it stops the flow of moolah dead in its tracks).

Money borrowed from a friend is luckier to bet with than your own.

Wear a piece of dirty laundry when you stop in to the Casino - especially if you intend to play a round-or-two of poker - in spite of the fact the gamblers all around you may turn away in disgust.  Maybe that's the idea (to distract them from the task at hand?).

Always stroke the screen of a slot machine before plugging in coins and hitting the play button.

Using the arm on the slot machine is luckier than using the automated "repeat bet" button.

Rub a Buddha's belly for good luck. There is one in the lobby of the Aria Hotel where you can do just that.  In fact, any bills you place on the coveted statue may result in winnings tenfold.

Oh, by the way, I expect a 10% cut.

Just kidding!

Casino Royale...forces pedestrians into smelly Vegas gambling hall!

Enough is enough!

For several weeks pedestrians on the Vegas strip have been forced to trot through the dark dank smelly gambling hall at Casino Royale for no good reason!

If you haven't noticed, about two or three times a week, the staff at Casino Royale plunk barracades out on the sidewalk (and block the pathway) with intructions in bold-face lettering:

"Detour through the Casino"

On each occasion that I have happened across the obstacle in my path, I have not noticed any workmen on duty - or construction underway - which would warrant the sidwalk being shut-down in such a fashion for hours on end each day (to the great incovenience of tourists and locals alike).

Is this just a deceitful attempt to steer potential gamblers into their seedy old dive?

Frankly, I am appalled.

Just betcha the place is rife with mould, too.

The nerve of those a**holes in the employ of Casino Royale!

Do you think they own the public street?

We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore!

Steve Wynn...to launch Hotel & Casino in Singapore! Chinese superstitious in nature!

Word out of Steve Wynn's camp is that the astute Hotelier with the Midas touch is about to set up shop in Singapore.

"It's my next goal in life," he beamed to the media in a recent press interview.

The lofty "dream" - though within his grasp - may be in limbo for the moment if the scuttlebutt is true.

According to sources, Wynn is required to hold off on the gamble because of a restriction imposed by the Government which requires exclusivity for current Casino owners.

Years ago, a friend invited me to jet off to Singapore for a vacation and to take in the exotic sites.

But, I begged off.

In retrospect, I now kick myself for not jumping at the opportunity to explore the historical mystical city.

In recent years, mind-boggling property developments has moved forward, with a spotlight on futuristic architectural design.

For instance, an awesome rooftop infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands commands a stunning view of the dazzling Financial District's Skyline (the owners boast that the splash feataure is approximately one-and-a-half football fields in length).

Gosh, I'd pay a pretty penny to lounge poolside as Michael Phelps propels his toned muscled bod from one end to-the-other.

Meanwhile, Resorts World Sentosa - not to be bested - launched a Theme Park with Universal Studios which features an upscale family-oriented Hotel.

In some respects, the old Guard still maintains a stranglehold when it comes to gambling, though.

Because the Chinese people are superstitious by nature, the Government has imposed restrictions on its citizens to ensure they don't fritter any the mortgage money.

Residents of Singapore are dinged $80.00 for one-day passes to the Casinos (good 24/7).

In contrast to the policies in the United States, family members are legally entitled to step forward and request that relatives be banned from gambling halls in the event they are vulnerable to chronic addiction to games of chance.

Casinos are also barred from advertising locally.

Ins spite of the aforementioned limitations guests topped out at a staggering 11.6 million in 2010.

Sales at two of the major Casinos combined equalled 1.7% of the gross National Product.

Obviously, Steve Wynn is anxious to grab for a piece of that lucrative pie!

Red Hawk Casino...fun economical day trip! San Francisco pleasures!

'Ya never know when lady luck will smile your way and grease the old palm!

For example, just before I boarded a tour bus headed back to downtown San Francisco the other night, I plugged a dollar into the slot machine at the Red Hawk Casino.

Imagine that!

I won a whopping $17.00 bucks (approximate) with a 3-cent bet!

Needless to say, I trotted back to my Hotel feeling like a winner!

If you're a local - or a tourist jetting off to San Francisco for a gander at the picturesque sights - take in the Red Hawk Casino just outside of the perimeters of the historic city.

At Clay & Kearny Streets a tour bus pulls up at specified times of the day to whisk folks away for a brief respite from the hectic traffic and hustle-and-bustle of the thriving metropolis that is San Francisco.

In the evening - at 8 o'clock - the two-way fare is a paltry $5.00!

And, when excited gamblers tumble off the coach to head indoors to the Casino once they've arrived, they are treated to a coupon for $15.00 of free slot play.

I actually spent an entertaining evening on the slots using up the house money alone.

No treks to the ATM for moi!

But, you may die of thirst before gambling away all the moolah!

Unfortunately, the waitresses on the floor are slow on-the-uptake.

But, for those who don't mind jumping up-and-down - and taking a jaunt around the Casino floor - refreshments (non-alcoholic) are available for free (on a self-serve basis) at two locations at Red Hawk.

In addition - thirsty patrons anxious for a gulp of cold refreshing beer - can snap one up at the cafe for a scant $2.50 a pop.

Although the pastries are pricey - french fries, on the other hand - are a great bargain to jockey in line for.

When the waitress sauntered over with a large "to-go" bag in her sweaty little palm, I thought she'd mixed up the orders, or something like that.

Nope!

For $1.50 I ended up with a mound of tasty french fries that quelled my late-night munchie urges, alright!

The Casino ride down on the highway (during daytime hours) is pretty and takes about two hours.

And, the grounds of Red Hawk, are an uplifting sight for the eyes - too!

A large rock formation - featuring an awesome waterfall at the entrance (topped by two grand trees) - is soothing to sit by if you want to contemplate life for a moment or two after the adrenalin rush of gambling inside has worn off a tad.

See 'ya there, eh?

Wild Wild West...cocktail waitresses gone by way of Dinosaur! Vegas Gamblers die of thirst...

If you're heading over to the Wild Wild West watering hole and Casino on Tropicana Boulevard (3300 Block) in Las Vegas, it may be wise to pack a flask of whiskey in your well-tooled boot.

Unless, you don't mind dying of thirst in the desert oasis, that is.

A couple of out-of-towners hankering to par-tay hearty grumbled to their buddies later that they were chomping at the bit for a shot or two for about a half-an-hour or so before they packed up their kit 'n kaboodle and strode into a bar down the strip run by the competition (where the liquor flowed and the good times rolled).

Uh-huh!

It looks like cocktail waitresses - and bar service on the Casino floor at the Wild Wild West - has gone by way of the Dinosaur.

Management at the tired old bar needs to get hip to the fact - that when rugged dudes are out for a round of poker-playing on a boys-night-out - that they're inclined to chase it down with a smoke, a shot or two of whiskey, and thirst-quenching ice cold beer.

Even an uptown tourist savors an exotic cocktail or two when they try their luck at the slots.

Dudes at the (Yawn) Wild Wild West need to get real!

Las Vegas Mob Experience...Tropicana exhibit to feature Bugsy Siegel & Meyer Lansky!

The myths and legends of Las Vegas mobsters got a new boost on Tuesday when it was announced that the Tropicana Hotel is installing a tribute to a handful of underworld characters who once reined supreme in Sin City many moons ago.

The "Las Vegas Mob Experience" has the backing of relatives of the likes of - Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel, and Sam Giancana - too.

In fact, thanks to their contributions, the much-anticipated chronicle of gangster-life in the early days will be fleshed out to include insightful home movies, one-of-a-kind photographs, and a treasure trove of memorabilia that organizers brag will throw the spotlight on a side of the mobsters never seen before.

One novel aspect of the exhibit is a series of spiritual ghost guides and radio-frequency chips to guide intrigued guests on their foray into the fascinating realm of gangsterdom.

And, state-of-the-art technology will also allow adventurous fans to interact by inputting choices, squealing to the fuzz, or just adding their own imaginative twist to the mix.

Some have wondered if the upcoming Tropicana project (created by Plainjoe Studios) may crowd the much-anticipated opening of the "Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement" which is scheduled to throw open its doors in the near future too.

The general consensus is “no”.

The Tropicana exhibit is backed wholeheartedly by the City of Las Vegas and the Mayor, his honor, Oscar Goodman.

And, the bevy of bodacious babes he usually has in tow, I expect.

Bugsy Siegle dapper hood!

Whiskey Pete's...Hotel clerk snafu insulting! Tourist deposit alert! Primm Valley (Nevada)

If you are a tourist on vacation and plan to to book a suite at Whiskey Pete’s in Primm Valley (on the outskirts of Las Vegas) I have to caution you about using a credit card at the front desk to settle the obligation of a deposit to cover incidentals over the duration of your vacation stay.

When I breezed through in recent days, I couldn’t help but notice that an incompetent desk clerk was inclined to keep “swiping away” when she initially inputted incorrect credit card information into the terminal.

Just how stupid was this gal, anyway?

Wasn’t she keen to the fact that too many failed attempts on a credit card charge may result in an alert to the credit card carrier - and a potential freeze - being placed on the account?

Duh!

The ditzy broad obviously screwed up - and instead of fessing up - proceeded to give an accusatory look at the guest when other folks at the check-in counter gazed in her direction shaking their heads.

Actually, that was part of the problem, too.

The woman lacked any common sense - or sensitivity towards the hotel guest - in respect to the unexpected snafu which occurred through no fault of his own.

Instead of revealing the card was declined in a hushed confidential tone, she blurted it out loud, so all the other guest could hear!

Talk about rude.

The Hotel employee had all the discretion of an elephant charging through the lobby.

After gaining his composure, and recovering from the traumatic embarrassing moment, the guest proceeded to note that the young lady must have inputted the info wrong (after all, it appeared she was having difficulty reading the Mastercard account number, expiration date, etc.).

Get some eyeglasses, lady!

A popular Vegas web site - that books rooms at reasonable rates - processed the charges for the Hotel suite the night before online without any problems (according to the shaken guest).

So, the glich obviously occurred due to clerk error, or a faulty terminal system at Whiskey Pete's.

But, as it turned out, the tables turned in his favor.

In the alternative, the Hotel clerk noted that the guest could pay the deposit in cash.

OMG!

Had he known that, he would have rejected the request for his Mastercard, and proffered up the cash instead right off-the-bat when he checked in.

For good reason!

For starters, handing over cash, is a better way to go because there is no access to the credit card or the funds available on the account (nor is there any access to the individual’s bank account in the event the tourist uses a debit card).

And, when the hotel guest checks out, they get the cash back in hand right away.

When a deposit is placed on a credit card - in spite of the fact there may not have been any charges to the room - the traveller has to wait anywhere from five-to-ten days for the money to be credited back to their account.

When you're on vacation,  deposit monies tied up here and there around the country,  may prove disasterous to a family on a limited budget.

Of course, Hotel employees are too dumb to fathom that out on their own.

When a guest gives out their credit card number - and allows it to be copied by Hotel staff - there is also the risk that unathorized charges may be billed to the account down the road that were not approved.

Readers may recall that I have posted consumer alerts in the past on the issue of fraudulent charges being placed on Hotel guests accounts at Las Vegas Hotels without their knowledge or permission

So, in the final analysis, it’s a better idea to deny the request for a credit card, and pay cash upfront for the deposit instead.

Pass on the tip to your friends and business associates, eh?

Las Vegas...Aria Grand Opening a smash hit! Art! Glamour! Walking shoes a prerequisite, though...

VIP's hob-knobbed and uttered up sparkling chatter, a dazzling pyrotechnic display electrically-charged the frosty night air as folks ooh-and-aahed on the strip below, and a mob of excited patrons (of which I was one) charged through a make-shift gate at the stroke of midnight to sample the sumptuous spoils of the strip's toniest new upscale Hotel (the Aria).

And, what was the lament heard most last night?

How do I get outta here!

More on that later.

Shortly after I sprinted through the starter's gate (fortunately I left my camera bag and mad-money purse at home or I would have been subject to a search) and trekked on up to the welcome team - I was  suddenly met with a lot of hoots & hollers, high-fiving, and thunderous applause from CityCenter staff which took me by surprise.

OMG!

What an adrenalin rush.

Of course, I was one of the first fifty guests to enter the Hotel & Casino, so there would be a lot of fanfare and frenzied hoopla, wouldn't there?

After all, Vegas is a city that reccognizes the importance of such auspicious occasions, and prone to celebrate with wild abandon, when they occur.

I was inclined to get caught up in the moment, too, when a wall of paparazzi turned their cameras on me as I swaggered into the tony lobby near the head of the spirited line.

"We're going to gamble, party, and have fun," I found myself gushing into one lens, as a wild round of cheers and clapping egged me on!

Later, a dude from Canada put it best, when he excitedly chirped,

"We were like celebrities, man."

Indeed!

Within minutes, I was swept up into the heady mainstream and rubbing shoulders with a throng of thrilled guests shifting gears into high-energy party-hearty mode.

When a pretty young waitress sidled up to me to offer a cocktail up, my eyes practically popped out of their sockets.

Her chic black party dress didn't leave much to the imagination.

In fact, as I took a closer look to take note of the details, I suddenly realized I was staring at her near-naked chest only slightly hidden by virtue of an exotic wisp of gauze-like material that was basically see-through.

Dudes, you've got to slip into the Aria just to get an up-close gander at these tempting shapely beauties.

Stunning, poised, approachable.

Notwithstanding the sensual delights that beckoned all around, it was the Aria Casino that truly wowed the first-comers last night.

Within minutes of the doors swinging open wide, I found myself amid a crush of revellers anxious to plug some cold-hard cash into the slots or try their luck at Roulette or Black Jack.

There was no shortage of takers - and they came in all shapes and sizes - believe in.

I spied young couples with babies in tow, single dudes in red-hot flaming skin-tight dress slacks, a posse of stylish males in expensive (dark) tailored suits, a dash of jet-setters who  flew in for the night's festivities, and casually-dressed folks in jeans just in for a look-see.

In sum, it appreared, that every strata of society was represented - and likewise - caught up in the hoopla.

At the Gold Lounge (upstairs) a handsome doorman eyed the crowd in search of VIP's, while a smattering of the curious (and a glut of wannabees) tried to crash the gate at the hottest new "in" nightclub on the Vegas scene.

A Lady Gaga chart-topper blared out from inside and triggered an upbeat carefree mood.

Just a hop-and-a-skip away, a shop specializing in Elvis memorabilia, was ringing up sales.

No wonder!

A dozen or so of the T-shirts were beautifully crafted.

I nearly snapped up one etched with sprinkling of mirror images of the King in a gold suit in a cocky stance.

Others, just as eye-catching with fashion appeal, screamed out the nameof  Elvis in a blood-red scrawl on an inky-black background.

Management dressed a few mannikens in Elvis signature outfits such as the Black Leather suit he wore in one rebel rouser feature of his heyday, a gold lame ensemble he was famous for having worn, and the white number with a wide belt and huge buckle studded with gems which El wore in his final days around the Vegas scene.

In addition, the nicely-decorated boutique featured a great array of hgh quality books, knick knacks, and the like.

Nothing in this collection was chintzy, but rather, merchandised with a modicum of good taste.

Of course, the Elvis store is running in tandem with the spanking-new Cirque de Soleil show - Viva  Elvis - which premieres on the strip in the not-too-distant future, if I am not mistaken..

One fan in the line-up out-front noted that Lisa Marie Presley was at the rehearsals the other night ordering the performers around on stage in a bossy control-freak kind-of-way.

"She's packed on about twenty pounds, too" he chortled, almost as an afterthought.

When I headed back downstairs, the chatter among the guests was now a loud roar!

I found it difficult to communicate over the spirited conversations, on occasion,  and found myself a bit hoarse at the end of the night.

At one point, two women tried to put the move on me!

Out-of-the-blue, they strolled right up.

"Hi handsome," the bolder one exclaimed.

We were in the midst of a bit of idle chit-chat about the casino, when the more confident of the two, asked me if I wanted to go for a cocktail.

"We're celebrating her divorce," she quipped.

I joked:

"You're not married to Tiger Woods, are you?"

I chuckled, then begged off with my standard response, when this kind of awkward moment rears its ugly head.

"I'm hooking up with friends in a few moments."

By the way, I couldn't help but notice that the highly-polished slot machine - "Sex and the City" - was drawing quite a few players.

Personally, I was on the look-out for the "Wizard of Oz" video game which I am a bit addicted to.

You get such a warm tingly feeling when the good witch - Glynda - suddenly appears on screen and grants a wish!

All smiles, she often waves her little wand - clicks her heels - then  rustles up 300 credits for ecstatic slot-players  to play on with.

There were quite a few of the old standards machines to play ((such as Monopoly, Cleopatra, etc), but also  a sprinking of new ones to try a hand at.

One one occasion I hit the spin button and won $5.00 - at which point - I decided to pack it in for the night.

Too much free Budweiser makes me sleepy  and cranky for my comfy King-size bed.

As I started to head towards the door at 3:30 am the house was still gyrating and strong!

Boy, oh boy, I sure shuddered at the thought of stepping outside into that icy night air; after all, rather than risk a DUI, I sauntered over to the CityCenter shindig on foot.

But, I ended up on a short adventure, exploring the CityCenter grounds just outside the Casino doors.

To my left, it was a Henry Moore sculpture  that lured me that way for a moment, then a couple of stunning life-size sculptures inside of Crystals  that led me in another.

One unique art work consisted of a half-a-dozen or so tubes in varying lengths - which stood  end to end in such a way - that they triggered a topsy-turvy sensation in the observer when viewed from various angles.

The tubes, filled with spritely-colored liquid, featured whirlpools inside that rose and fell without warning (and reminded me of twisters).

Another intriguing piece consisted of tall pencil-like free-standing poles that were not unlike a line of frosty giant-sized icycles existing in their own realm or dimension.

The rich panelled-wood floors were a feast for the eyes, too.

Exotic arrangements of plants and foliage here-and there-broke  up the monotony of the mall-like interior of one shopping alley.

But,  the night did not start or end without a hitch or two.

As guests were gathering at the front entrance -  security guards hustled to and fro - and facilitated a handful of tools at their disposal in a bold-faced effort to effect crowd control.

From one eye-opening moment to the next, the game plan would change without much warning, much to the chagrin of a few out-of-towerns who were freezing and anxious to trapise through the front doors and snatch up a thirst-quenching drink.

For example, one moment guests were instructed to exit one area, go over an overpass, and head up the driveway to form  a queue  in the paved area normally reserved for vehicles.

A short while later, that scenario was scrapped, and the secuirty team consequently shifted gears.

At one point, everyone perked up a tad when two grunts hauledover  a couple of tables draped in black drop cloth.

"Are you serving us food", one joker cried out with glee.

No, they were being angled to create a sort-of chute so that the guests could be properly coralled - not unlike a herd of cows - and pointed in the right direction at the magic moment to ensure there wasn't a stampede.

Then, someone got the bright idea to secure the area a smidgen more, by erecting two more barriers on either side, as well.

At this juncture, the guards started to look like a bunch of idiot keystone cops reminiscent of the old screwball talkies from the 1920's.

However, all through the controlled chaos, the  security team remained thoughtful, friendly and patient.

Kudos!

When I finally departed Aria around 3:30 am (feeing the pain today, believe me) I continually ran into lost  guests.

'How do I get out of this place," one man cried out to me in exasperation.

Once the long-and-winding road homeward (or Hotel bound)  is started, weary stragglers had a series of paths, stairwells, and open-air squares to deal with.

Most had to back-track, ask for directions from night workers who were on duty sweeping up, or suffer through the confusing maze of  futuria until they finally saw the light - of the moon - in this instance case.

Personally, I found myself teetering a bit in my designer leather shoes at the end of the night; after all, I usually wear practical sneakers.

Near the front of the CityCenter, I was finally forced to waddle through a small garden, hop a retaining wall, and stride about fifty-feet along an unprotected curb to finally make some headway in the right direction..

On the way, as I was crossing at a light, two ladies in an expensive cadillac parked at a red light spied me crossing.

The driver backed up, rolled down the window, and rasped:

"Honey, where are 'ya off to?"

It was a cliche right out of the movie "Precious".

Yup.

Gave 'em my standard response in awkward moments such as this.

"On may way to hook up with friends"

And if I do, what a delightful conversation we'll have over coffee, in respect to Aria.

Afer all, CityCenter is currently the talk-of-the-town!

Fuel the local economy.

Check it out, eh?

Steve Wynn...Encore owner stingy with cocktails! Big bucks go to dog & ex-wife & heck with customers...

Last night I sauntered into "Encore" on the Vegas strip after capturing a few picturesque video clips of  the Gondoliers on the canals at the Venetian  (check out my YouTube site for exclusive videos).

OMG!

A short gambling streak later, a handful of us slot-players thought we would just die of thirst!

Without a waitress in sight, and suffering from a nasty bout of parched mouth, we were scheming to call out to a bootlegger for some demon rum since the house was obviously dry.

A gander around the room signalled the obvious.

Old money bags, Steve Wynn, was obviously keen on holding onto his loot!

Or, too budget-minded  (mean) to employ another server to lend a hand to the two over-worked bimbo babes who were struggling to keep up with frenzied requests on the Casino floor.

Just maybe, the multi-milliionaire is a cheap-skate when it comes to "watering-down" his paying guests.

Curious, that!

I just read in the morning newspaper (in "Norm's" column, if  I am not mistaken)  that Wynn has his much-coddled puppies chauffeured around in a pricey limousine (worth half-a-million bucks).

Looks like all the moolah he's raking in at the Hotel & Casino (off  the backs of gamblers like toi & moi)  is being  pressed into the sweaty palms  of  handlers for dog upkeep and canine pampering.

Maybe it's time we cut up our blood red Player's cards and slouched off  to an establishment that appreciates our biz, eh?

Maybe then, the liquor will flow freely!

I got to thinking today, though, that there is a solution to the problem.

Since Steve  loves doggies so much, maybe he should spring for a couple of  St. Bernards - and likewise - strag a keg of beer or two around their furry necks.

Yup!

Whenever a patron cries out for a drinkie-pooh for medicinal purposes, at least, the winsome Wynn just has to send in the dogs (and a clown or two from his management team) to facilitate a life-saving chug-a-lug or two.

As I headed out the much-foliaged front doors, I couldn't help but also notice that Wynn is making a killin' elsewhere on the prmieses, too.

Golly, the letch with a penchant for bimbo babes,  is also charging guests ten smackeroos ($10.00) to take a gander at parked Ferraris on the lobby floor in a fancy-schmanzy showroom a hop-and-a-skip away from the Casino floor.

I guess I'm jaded  'cause I would'nt  be caught dead forking over one thin dime for the privilege.

I ain't no wide-eyed kid,  with his nose pressed up against the glass of the candy-store window, after all.

Ferrari's are a dime-a-dozen in Beverly Hills, Steve-o!

Bottom line?

You're not really part of the tony elite in BH or Bel Air 'til a Ferrari hangs a sharp turn on squealing wheels and annoints your leg with a spray of run-off designer water the locals use to perpetrate the green on their well-manicured front lawns.

By the way, I couldn't help but notice that at - "Blush" (the Nightclub boutique) - a crush of of young trendies began to queue along a bank of the spanking-new slots as the withcing hour approached.

Just beyond that permieter, natch, Wynn's security gooks in goon suits, were eyeing up a handful of dubious characters to shadow as the bustling eve wore on.

Judging from the smug looks on their mugs, I expect the whole posse of 'em thought they were being remarkably discreet.

On the contrary, they exhibited all the subtlety of a herd of pink elephants in heat!

Losers, one and all.

Ironic, in a gambling hall, don't 'ya think?

Mega Millions...buy a ticket! Someone's gotta win...

California residents were cueing up at the crack of dawn to snap up tickets for the Mega Millions lottery.

Why not?

The kitty (a big pussy now!) has soared into the hundreds of millions.

Too bad Officials couldn't spread that out a bit so that a dozen or so folks got $50 mil or so, instead of one lone winner get the whole enchilada!

Of course, if I win (yup, broke down and sprung for 2 big ones) I won't complain.

All is fair in love and lotto playing, after all.

Break the mint, eh?

Life of luxury awaits!

Twitter...Caesar's Palace following moi! What, me a whale?

Golly, one of my favorite luxury Casinos in Las Vegas in now following me on Twitter!

And, I'm not even a "whale".

What would the powers-that-be on high think if they discovered that I've been plying my coins away in their lowly penny slot machines?

Just betcha, I'd get the heave-ho.

Notwithstanding, personally I feel right at home whenever I stroll through Caesar's Palace, and for good reason.

Avid readers of my blog may recall that in a previous post, I noted I may have been Julian 1st (Flavius Claudius) in a past life.

Post:

So, whenever I step into the Forum it's kind-of-like a flash of deja vu, if you get my drift!

More importantly, now that I'm on management's radar, maybe I'll be able to rustle up some front-row seats to a dynamite show or weasel my way into an elegant suite @ rock-bottom prices!

Hail Caesar!

Twitter...Las Vegas following me! Golly...

Last night I got quite a surprise when I clicked on a Twitter update.

Vegas is following me.

Golly, I hit the jackpot.

After all, I don't recall ever having a city's fans follow me before.

Maybe the Mayor will present me with a key to "Sin City" on the heels of this enviable honor?

And, why not, I'm a likely candidate!

A flurry of upbeat posts I penned on the desert oasis this past week must have cheered up die-hard fans considerably.

Until I sauntered into town at High Noon, Vegas stalwarts were crying the blues about slumping Hotel reservations - and a staggering loss of revenue due to the failed economy - that had turned Bugsy's little gem upside down.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

I must have hit the target with mouth-watering posts about 99 cent Daiquiris, scrumptious deep-fried oreos, and the bevy of bodacious babes that serve 'em up with a come-hither look @ Mermaids at the Fremont Street experience nightly.

Obviously, night owls were also delighted with a video clip that featured the eye-popping marquee @ Glitter Gulch, a prestigious Gentleman's club.

Indeed!

Entertaining footage featuring a sensational saxophone player (local musician Carl Ferris), a charismatic country-rock performer by the name of Scotty Alexander, and an Alice Cooper tribute band obviously scored big on the richter scale, as well.

The dazzling light shows captured on HD Video were pretty much a sensory knock-out, too.

While the last-minute jaunt to Vegas wasn't too expensive (I rustled up a spacious suite at rock-bottom prices at Expedia last-minute) the impromptu trek turned out to be quite fortuitous.

After documenting four sun-drenched fun-filled days & exotic starry nights in the destination hot spot, I am the toast of the town.

In contrast, Harvey Feirstein was nearly tarred & feathered and banned from the glitzy Vegas strip, for criticizing the powers-that-be for trimming the length of Broadway Shows that hit town.

Nothing personal, Harvey.

In a nutshell, it all boils down to dollars and common sense.

Russian Roulette, anyone?

Las Vegas...day after Christmas & decorations are down! Business as usual...

When I strode out of my Hotel this morning bright and early in search of breakies to satisfy a hunger pain in my gut, I was taken aback when I spied a posse of City Workers disassembling the festive Christmas tree which lit up the downtown strip (on Fremont Street) just yesterday!

One day after the Sainted birth of Jesus Christ (Our Lord) and it's already back-to-business as usual in Las Vegas!

I expect that the tree and trimmings were just meant to appease a handful of Christians who popped into town to celebrate the Holy "day".

Now that the sacred moment has passed, time to sweep out the sentiment and get back to making the big bucks, eh?

I guess no one informed Las Vegas City Officials that it is bad luck to take down a Christmas tree before New Years Day.

As the Chinese would say:

"May you live in interesting times."

Bah Humbug!
