Judd Apatow...to produce PEE WEE HERMAN big-budget feature!

Judd Apatow announced through his handlers that he has committed to produce a wide screen version of Paul Reuben’s celebrated pop culture character “Pee Wee Herman”.

According to a publicist, Reubens is expected to co-write the script with Apatow.

The project is a boost for the Pee Wee Herman star, especially when you consider that Apatow’s prior films - "Knocked up" and the "40-year old Virgin" - were smash money-making hits at the box office.

After a much-publicized scandal over a conviction on lewd-conduct charges, which initially negatively-impacted and stalled his career, Reubens has struggled to regain his former status in the show-biz arena.

A break-through arrived last year in the guise of a stage production based on the Pee Wee character.

The hit comedy is slated for 48 performances on Broadway to rev up in October.

Looks like the big adventure is not over yet for Paul Ruebens.

Entourage...WeHo shoot! Sheriff has sh** for brains! Lies about copyright infringement laws...

So is a Sheriff's pie hole!

Yesterday morning I was trundling down the oh-so-trendy Melrose (yes, of "Melrose Avenue" fame) when I spied a film crew setting up just shy of the Urth Cafe.

I've expended many-an-hour on location over the years in my capacity as an actor, so I am generally pretty jaded when it comes to the fascinating realm of movie-making on the streets of Hollywood.

However, when a bystander noted that scenes were being shot for Entourage (a fave cable show about the ins-'n-outs of the film biz) I was inclined to stop and take an up-close gander.

Within seconds of whipping out my HD Video camera, a Sheriff with a stick up his butt, lumbered over and informed me that if I wasn't a member of the crew I was required to stand on the other side of the street.

Okie-dokie!

Shortly after I flipped open the screen of my snazzy camera with all the bells and whistles, and I began to pan in close to capture two actors alighting from an old Lincoln Continental, old jowly-face was throwing his weight around again (which was considerable).

"I told 'ya they were shooting. You're too close to the shot."

I corrected the dim-wit.

"No, you instructed me to cross over to this side of the street."

It wasn't my fault the street stretched for miles each way - and likewise - that he failed to specify where to exactly perch.

And the city of West Hollywood pays this loser a salary?

After a brief chat with another lout on the force, the grunt shuffled back over, and persisted with his harassment.

"You can take still photos, but no video. That would be copyright infringement."

Boy, did this officer have sh** for brains, or what?

You see, as fate would have it, I studied law.

And, one of my courses focused on copyright infringement, in particular.

I was inclined to enlighten him about his ignorance, but keenly aware that if I made a fuss , he might try to find some excuse to cite me, seize my video footage, whatever.

You know how they abuse the color of authority, after all!

So, I played along.

"Sure, whatever you say Officer."

I half-turned at this point to avoid laughing in his ugly face.

What an idiot!

Residents of the neighborhood, tourists - even a curiosity seekers - were certainly within their rights to videotape events ongoing in the busy public street!

Notwithstanding, it should have been obvious to any moron with an IQ of about 2, that no one can copyright a street!

Old lard a** was spending too much time at the doughnut shop when he should have been pouring over the law books instead.

For his sake, I sure hope his di** is bigger than his brain!

Bottom line, he's doesn't know his butt from a pothole in the ground.

Screen Actors Guild...tenative contracts agreed to!

The National Board of Directors voted on April 19th (2009) to approve a tentative TV/Theatrical deal with the producers and recommend it for ratification to the members.

After a months-long battle over contract issues - played out in nasty detail in the press - the National Board of Directors voted 53.38 percent to 46.62 percent to approve and recommend to SAG members new two-year successor agreements.

The proposed agreement covering actors in the jurisdiction of motion pictures and television, delivers a 3.5% effective annual increase comprised of a 3% wage increase and a .5% pension and health contribution increase upon ratification ( and a 3.5% wage increase in year two).

After all the terms were discussed extensively in a closed-door meeting, it was moved and seconded that the National Board direct the interim National Executive Director to send the tentative agreement between the Producers (represented by the AMPTP) and the Screen Actors Guild to the membership for ratification with a recommendation from the Board to vote ‘Yes.’

On the heels of the vote count, SAG National President Alan Rosenberg urged members to carefully review both the pros and cons in the referendum materials and exercise their right to vote."

“We are pleased that Screen Actors Guild members will soon be voting on a deal for television and motion pictures. We’re eager to get our members back to work and to focus now on the challenges ahead, particularly on initiating a comprehensive effort to thoughtfully plan for the future," added interim National Executive Director David White.

White proceeded to note that the negotiating committee, task force and professional staff worked tirelessly on the agreement over the past twelve months with a positive end result.

On behalf of the National Board, he thank the dedicated teams for contributing their time, commitment and expertise to the cause.

According to Chief Negotiator John McGuire, the tentative agreement delivers increased contributions to the SAG pension plan, increased minimums, a significant gain in background actor numbers from 50 to 55 over the term of the contract, and tracks new media provisions achieved by other entertainment industry unions.

"The terms of the agreement puts SAG in sync with the other unions, but does not include the extended term recently proposed by the AMPTP," he noted for the record.

Provisions of the proposed deal include:

* A two-year term of agreement concluding June 30, 2011.
* Effective annual increases of 3.0% in wage increases.
* A .5% increase in pension contributions upon ratification.
* A 3.5% wage increase one year following ratification.
* Greater residuals for TV & Theatrical features than those paid for DVD.
* Residuals for ad-supported streams of feature films & TV programs.
* Residuals for derivative new media programs.
* Additional background actors in features.
* Increased compensation for guest stars from 7.5% to 10%.
* Increased trailer money break ( $2,500 to $3,000 per week).
* Increased overtime money for 3-day performers ($2,700 to $3,000).

Staff at SAG have reported that the ratification ballots will be mailed to eligible Guild members in early May with an expected return date (votes cast) at the end of the month.

Tabulation will occur immediately upon the conclusion of balloting.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is the nation’s largest labor union representing working actors in the country today.

Established in 1933, SAG has a rich history in the American labor movement, especially with regard to fighting for artists’ rights amid the current digital revolution which has swept the entertainment industry over the past couple of decades.

With 20 branches nationwide, SAG represents nearly 120,000 actors who work in motion pictures, television, industrial films, commercials, video games, music videos and all new media formats.

The Guild's main thrust is to enhance actors’ working conditions and pursue realistic compensation for services rendered.

Although opposing factions threatened to split the Actor's Union asunder in recent days over the contentious contract issues aforementioned, SAG continues to endeavour to be a unified voice on behalf of artists’ rights.

SAG is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO which is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Michael Phelps...Saturday Night Live host! NBC. September 13th...

Pool Stud to surface on Late Night Television...

So, you have to wonder on the heels of the announcement that Michael Phelps will host the season opener for Saturday Night Live, what kind of schtick the celebrated swimmer may get tangled up in under the wicked spell of producer, Lorne Michaels.

Phelps has only to stroll out in his skimpy speedo with the eight gold trinkets he won slung around his neck - to satisfy his fans - I expect.

How 'bout an off-beat skit poking fun at the Olympic Champion?

For starters, how 'bout Phelps cruising around Tinsel Town in one of those oversize stretch limos - with jacuzzi in back (bubbly, a must) - with a bevy of bodacious babes in tow who cater to his every every whim?

Yeah, Michael goes Hollywood!

Follow this up with a side-splitting skit featuring Aqua Man being shaken down by the paparazzi in front of The Villa or Koi - Lorne - and a merry chase through the tony streets of Beverly Hills with Phelps half-naked?

Or, how about a sly poke at the trappings of fame, when Phelps goes house-hunting for a ritzy Beverly Hills manse? And, a hilarious bit, haggling with contractors over the semantics of installing a replica of the "cube" in the backyard next to his futuristic digs on stilts overlooking the picturesque hills?

Ah, so many tantalizing ideas!

The show - whatever it unfolds under the guise of - will be broadcast on NBC on September 13th (this weekend).

The 23-year-old Gold Medalist will kick off SNL's 34th season!

Undoubtedly, the network is going full throttle, hoping to scoop up some of those sky-high ratings that followed Phelps around the Olympic lanes.

After all, an unprecedented millions tuned in to the boob tube to root for Phelps, when he competed at the landmark Beijing Olympics.

Of course, at those history-making games, Phelps demolished world records and left the competition in his wake.

The highlight of the races was undoubtedly the moment when Phelps won his 7th Gold Medal by beating a fierce competitor - Milorad Cavic - by the slimmest and most-dramatic margin imaginable.

Yeah, one-hundredth of a second!

But, Phelps went on to nab a perfect score of 8 gold medals out of a possible 8 - and, subsequently - broke Mark Spitz's single-Games record for most gold medals ever won.

Notwithstanding, the icing on the cake included an Olympic record, which garnered Phelps the title of most-decorated Olympian in history.

When the dust settled, he was left holding seven world records in the highly-competitive and exhausting swimming arena.

Dramatic!

Water sports aside, the hunky Olympic hero is also known as a hip-hop artist fan, who racks up a roster of funky tunes on his iPod before the competitions begin.

So, for Phelps - sharing his SNL debut with hip-hop superstar co-host Lil Wayne - must be real sweet!

Let the SNL comedies begin!

This one's for you, Ma!
