Barack Obama...tracking the PREZ's motorcade in LA LA LAND! Seattle-bound!

Cutting down on Motorcade needs!

In spite of some harping in recent days about the President's sagging popularity in the polls, normally-jaded media hounds were inclined to gush - and eagerly track - every move of the President this morning from tony Hancock Park to the industrial arm at LAX airport before his hasty departure.

"Oh, there he is," one female reporter blurted out like a silly schoolgirl, as the door to the helicopter opened wide on the tarmac, and Barack Obama gingerly stepped out.

As Obama strode a few short feet from the snazzy whirley-bird to Government Jet, he quickly rebuffed one ballsy local reporter, who tried to engage the President in a conversation by shouting out a timely question Barack allowed to fall on deaf ears.

Ooops!

Inappropriate protocol!

With all eyes glued on Obama, one local news outlet opted to toss the glare of the spotlight on last night's fiasco in the mean streets of Los Angeles.

Irate motorists were allegedly furious over the snarling traffic that erupted like a flash flood once the main arteries in-and-out of Hancock Park were cut-off forcing the locals to fend for themselves in a hopeless barrage of honking horns, frazzled nerves, and stalled vehicles on side streets in the vicinity of the President's motorcade.

And what an entourage it was.

"Excessive," fumed one.

To add to the annoyance?

In spite of the fact Barack was inside and out of harm's way for a few hours during the height of rush hour traffic, the Secret Service needlessly kept residents at bay.

The oversight triggered an onslaught of angry calls to KTLA.

There were quite a few tweets, too, in which frustrated residents grumbled about the disruptive traffic jams caused by an excessive influx of government security details and a flash of motorcade glitz.

"It was almost a miracle when the grid lock finally let up," one dial-in-caller joked..

At the airport this morning, it looked like a lock-down, though," another one sniffed.

Barack is now zipping off to Seattle for a 3-day visit and a tour of the city.

"The secret service's advance teams took off for the Pacific Northwest earlier today to do a baby check," one anchor laughed.

As the door of the aircraft closed, envious pundits joked about the perks.

"Now, he gets free peanuts."

And, he can slip off his shoes, and relax a bit.

Hail to the Chief.

And, look out Seattle, he's heading your way!

Mark Wahlberg...perplexed by Star on Walk of Fame!

Just goes to show 'ya what a little bumping and grinding will do for a dude!

One minute, Marky Mark (Kids on the Block) was frenetically perking up his pecs with strenuous bouts of push-ups backstage before sauntering into the glare of the spotlight to entertain a frenzied hip-hop fan base - and in the next - found himself acting in big budget features rustling up Oscar nominations.

If you recall, Wahlberg was nominated for an Academy Award for his so-so acting performance in Martin Scorsese's drama "The Departed".

When it was announced a few days ago that the crotch-grabbing former Calvin Klein model was about to get some true Hollywood respect, he couldn't quite get a handle on it.

A case in point.

When the toothy actor/cum/toy-boy tease with the infectious grin and pecs to die for - was informed that he was being honored with a pristine star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - he was literally speechless.

With family in tow, gun shy Wahlberg was inclined to turn the speech-making duties over to good pal and confidante - Will Ferrell - when he showed up to acknowledge the - um - kudo?

“I really felt like this was a big practical joke," Wahlberg mumbled, almost embarrassed by an  accollade that many equate with the pinnacle of success in their film or TV career.

The ballsy fun-loving comic had no qualms filling in for the Boogie Nights star.

“I’m flattered and honoured to speak on Mark’s behalf," he solemnly started off.

But, a second or two later, Will  shifted gears and engaged in a few hi-jinks to the delight of the throngs of fans who turned out to get a glimpse of the action-hero.

“I loved him in all the Bourne movies,” Ferrell  joked.

“Just the best.”

Some pooh-poohed Wahlberg's wimpy response to the plaudit - and shook their heads when the cocky producer of HBO's "Entourage" - failed to muster up a quip or two at the podium on that auspicious day.

The B-list actor explained it all away the following day in a bold-faced effort to regain favor with the Chamber of Commerce, all die-hard fans, and his fellow actors.

“The last time I prepared something was actually at the Academy Awards. I wrote a little speech, and obviously, I didn’t win that."

Didn't anyone inform him that he was the only one in-the-running for a star on the "Walk of Fame" in the name of Mark Wahlberg?

Duh!

The coveted place-holder on Hollywood Boulevard was yours for the taking, Marky Mark, no kidding!

Entourage...WeHo shoot! Sheriff has sh** for brains! Lies about copyright infringement laws...

So is a Sheriff's pie hole!

Yesterday morning I was trundling down the oh-so-trendy Melrose (yes, of "Melrose Avenue" fame) when I spied a film crew setting up just shy of the Urth Cafe.

I've expended many-an-hour on location over the years in my capacity as an actor, so I am generally pretty jaded when it comes to the fascinating realm of movie-making on the streets of Hollywood.

However, when a bystander noted that scenes were being shot for Entourage (a fave cable show about the ins-'n-outs of the film biz) I was inclined to stop and take an up-close gander.

Within seconds of whipping out my HD Video camera, a Sheriff with a stick up his butt, lumbered over and informed me that if I wasn't a member of the crew I was required to stand on the other side of the street.

Okie-dokie!

Shortly after I flipped open the screen of my snazzy camera with all the bells and whistles, and I began to pan in close to capture two actors alighting from an old Lincoln Continental, old jowly-face was throwing his weight around again (which was considerable).

"I told 'ya they were shooting. You're too close to the shot."

I corrected the dim-wit.

"No, you instructed me to cross over to this side of the street."

It wasn't my fault the street stretched for miles each way - and likewise - that he failed to specify where to exactly perch.

And the city of West Hollywood pays this loser a salary?

After a brief chat with another lout on the force, the grunt shuffled back over, and persisted with his harassment.

"You can take still photos, but no video. That would be copyright infringement."

Boy, did this officer have sh** for brains, or what?

You see, as fate would have it, I studied law.

And, one of my courses focused on copyright infringement, in particular.

I was inclined to enlighten him about his ignorance, but keenly aware that if I made a fuss , he might try to find some excuse to cite me, seize my video footage, whatever.

You know how they abuse the color of authority, after all!

So, I played along.

"Sure, whatever you say Officer."

I half-turned at this point to avoid laughing in his ugly face.

What an idiot!

Residents of the neighborhood, tourists - even a curiosity seekers - were certainly within their rights to videotape events ongoing in the busy public street!

Notwithstanding, it should have been obvious to any moron with an IQ of about 2, that no one can copyright a street!

Old lard a** was spending too much time at the doughnut shop when he should have been pouring over the law books instead.

For his sake, I sure hope his di** is bigger than his brain!

Bottom line, he's doesn't know his butt from a pothole in the ground.

The Emmys...60th Annual Awards Show!

This Sunday, the 60th Annual Emmy Awards will be broadcast on ABC.

There are a number of new changes this year, sure to get viewers hopped-up over the Sunday Night extravaganza.

For starters, there will be five co-hosts.

The Academy gets more for their money, I guess!

Heidi Klum will obviously pretty up the stage in a flurry of exotic make-up, elegant jewellery, and designer silks draped about her luscious bod.

Sure to get the hearts pounding at home, at least!

Other celebs throwing in their two cents worth on stage the big night include - metrosexual Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars), actor Jebb Probst (Survivor), ubiquitous TV personality Ryan Seacrest (American Idol), and game-show officiando Howie Mandell (Deal or No Deal).

Among them, they must be able to rustle up a guffaw or two!

In addition, there will be flashes of nostalgia, sure to tear an eye.

For instance, the network is asking that viewers tune in and vote online for the ten best all-time moments from dramas and comedies, in a segment that pays tribute to the medium.

Emmy winners are determined by Judges who watch DVD screeners - and vote in accordance with their perception of excellence - in advance of the telecast.

Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, The Office, 30 Rock, and Two and a half Men, nabbed slots in the best comedy show category.

For oustanding drama series, the nominees are Boston Legal, Damages, Mad Men, Lost, House, Damages, and Dexter.

Sorry to be impartial, but go Dexter!

Prior to the broadcast, there will be a gaggle of glittering pre-Emmy shows, vying for middle America's undivided attention.

Locally, one of the faves is - "Live from the Emmys" - on KTLA (Channel 5) and capably hosted by Sam Rubin (insightful critic), Jessica Holmes (Canuck Comic), and Laurie Pike (fashion analyst).
