You've got to have friends...Jack Black takes over MySpace!

King of MySpace?

It's been uncanny!

For several weeks - whenever I signed in to my Facebook page - right off-the-bat I couldn't help but notice that the Dalai Lama (Buddhist Spiritual leader) - just posted to the Internet seconds earlier!

Then, the curious phenomenon started to unfold in respect to Ryan Seacrest, too.

The contributions of the winsome twosome are quite different in substance, however.

For instance, whenever his "Holiness" posts a message, it tends to be of a philosophical nature, so I tend to mull over the nuggets of wisdom before heading out for the day to undertake chores and what-have-you.

Ryan Seacrest - on the other hand - tends to utter up short sweet ditties about the curiousities of "Yogurt" or the tantalizing aroma of catering-truck fast-foods that assail his sensitive nostrils as he speeds onto the lot over at E News!

Like myself, Ryan tends to be an observer, who takes note of trends and the quirks that move - and ultimately inspire - the human animal during the course of the routine work day (and the party-hearty sizzling' hot nights that rev up under an intense golden orb setting sun on the West Coast shores).

Just the other day, I was quite surprised (and flattered) to receive a friend request from comic Jack Black.

Although I am fond of his wild antics - on-camera-and-off - I have yet to review one of his flicks.

But, he's on my radar now, you betcha!

Shortly after I shuffled Mr. Black to the top of my "friends" list on MySpace, the multi-talented dude fired off a post which caused me to ceremoniously whoop-and-holler a tad.

Jack announced that he's taking over MySpace.

Well, the site could do with a zany character at the helm, if only to spice things up a tad!

After promoting Eminem's record these past few months at The Tattler, the intriguing rapper has come on board as a friend, too.

Hmmm!

Wonder what the reclusive Pop Icon's really like when you get him along in a corner somewhere out of the glare of the spotlight?

Just a normal dude, I expect.

Bottom line, as Bette Midler would say:

"You've got to have friends"

Amen, baby!

MySpace...friends Ryan Seacrest & actress Nicole Kidman still active on social hub!

Nicole Best-Dressed beauty!

I confess that I am not always on top of things at MySpace.

Mind you, when I spy those mugs smiling back at me on my home page when I check in now and then at whim, it is always quite a mood-lifting experience.

So, today - when I logged in to update my profile - a couple of “friend” requests were a welcome sight.

In fact, I chuckled out loud when I first caught a glimpse of DJ Ryan Seacrest’s lovable grin, because I’ve always been a fan of the quirky good-looking talent who brims with personality, though I have often poked fun in posts when reviewing his high-profile appearances on American Idol this season and last.

What can I say, I’m an entertainment critic, after all!

By the way Ryan - when I have a moment - I’ll boost you up to the front of the line on page one!

Nicole Kidman (a fine actress I admire) - who I have included on my best-dressed list in recent years - fired off a friend request about seventeen hours ago (according to the MySpace staff).

Sorry, for the delay in responding Nicole, but travel and work commitments have kept me out-of-the-loop!

Meanwhile, it’s important to note to all my readers, that the MySpace site has been revamped somewhat since I last checked in.

In fact, new features kept me delightfully exploring the overhauled social hub, that some may have assumed had fallen by the wayside in the wake of the recent popularity of twitter & facebook.

In parting for now, take note - dear friends - I promise to keep abreast (with the specific aim of avoiding neglect) in upcoming weeks.

By the way, folks - you can always Tweet me - if ‘ya like!

Tom Selleck...returns to a Night-time TV Drama! "Blue Bloods" cop show!

Tom Selleck enthusiastically noted over the weekend that he would snap up the opportunity to saunter onto the wide screen to play Magnum in the event the popular detective show was adapted for theatre-goers.

In the meantime, the mustachioed actor - who got his first break on the "Dating Game" as a fresh-faced clean-shaven hopeful (he lost out twice to competing male bachelors) - has signed on for a fall series titled "Blue Bloods".

The TV drama casts Selleck in the slightly-crusty role of a seasoned Police Chief, but the storyline does not linger solely on law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

"Blue Bloods" writers have weaved in sub-plots that focus on family and relationships in a bold-faced effort to humanize the men and women who fight the good cause daily in the mean streets of New York City.

Selleck has been blessed with a successful career in which he has managed to break the barriers of film and TV - and float between the two mediums - with ease.

For the most part, the handsome actor - who played basketball in College - has been able to pick and choose his projects.

On one unfortunate occasion, however, a plum role slipped through his fingers due to work commitments and scheduling logistics that prevented the  actor's actor from taking on the mantle of a major film character that racked up big bucks and super-stardom for the actor who was eventually cast as the action-hero character (Harrison Ford).

Selleck was tied into his Magnum  contract and unable to accept the Steven Spielberg offer to play "Indiana Jones" in the mega-hit franchise for a major film studio.

Originally, Selleck intended to pursue a career in architecture - but, as luck would have it - another door opened instead which paved the way to fame and fortune in the show biz arena.

“When I went to enrol for the class in Architecture, the roster was full. So, I signed up for acting classes at the next booth where the drama club was wanting for actors."

The rest is Hollywood history, as the say.

Selleck stayed abreast of the game, and remained in the limelight, when he signed on to play a recurring role on the popular sitcom "Friends".

Tom returned to the silver screen after a brief absence, and rejuvenated his film career in the process, when he elected to take on the quirky part of a gay news anchor (sans moustache) who helps a sexually confused Kevin Kline find his way in the hilarious comedy hit "In and Out".

Break a leg on the  new series, Tom!

Brad Pitt...bouncing back to Jennifer Anniston? Jolie seeks stud service elsewhere...

Angelina ruffled Brad's manhood!

On the heels of the frenzied gossip over the alleged break-up of Brangelina (ball-buster Jolie apparently cheated on the sexist man alive which caused the split) "insiders" "in the know" are touting Brad's reunion with Jennifer Anniston (surely you remember that mousey little broad with the ditzy personality who once starred on Friends).

According to individuals close to the winsome-twosome, once Brad and Jolie resolve the issues regarding the custody of their children, a potentially-messy financial entanglement (and so forth and so on), the studly wimp will be back in the smothering arms of Anniston.

In fact, some tongue-waggers are asserting that once the strangle-hold Jolie has on Brad is released, they'll resume where they left off and publicly acknowledge their undying lover for each other.

Makes 'ya want to puke, doesn't it?

In my opinion, if Brad skulks back to Anniston, he'll underscore what a loser he is (in the romance and relationship department, for sure).

Setting his sights on Jolie origiinally, bedding her - and setting up house thereafter - stressed what a conquering stud he could be.

It was a ballsy move, after all.

But, in retrospect, it appears that the strident (territorial) sex goddess managed to serve up his manhood on a silver platter to nibble on at her whim.
No man should put up with that.

Wishy-washy Anniston is just a stab at getting back to normalcy.

Just betcha that if you plopped down for a chat with Brad he'd bore you to tears.

Maybe he and Jennifer deserve each other.

Great eye candy, yes!

Although the lights appear to be on - on the other hand - looks like no one is at home.

What Brad needs is a good fu** to get the lead out.

Amen!

Oprah Winfrey...twitters! There goes the neighborhood! Some cry foul...

Geek meets twit!

Your head must have been in a toilet or something for the past twenty-four hours if you didn't hear the news about Oprah Winfrey and "twitter".

Yes, Ms. Smarty (overstuffed) pants has ventured into the 21st Century by signing up!

Understandably, Oprah needed someone to hold her hand.
The idea of it was so revolutionary, and frightful, after all!

On her daytime talk fest Friday, the founder of "Twitter" was at the side of goody-two-shoes, as she browsed around the Twitter site all agog at the potential of it all.

One light bulb definitely went off inside her head.

'A great way to keep track of Steadman' (or any other eligible beau waiting in the wings in Tweetville) must have been one mental note she made to herself.

Twitter just might be what the fad doctor ordered to keep the feisty gabber from falling of the diet wagon, too.

All Oprah has to do is "tweet" one her new pals about a deep-fried oreo she's about to wolf down - when, I expect - a host of die-hard fans will step in and pull-the-plug on that naughty bit of self-indulgence from the get-go.

And, what about those new "best buds", anyway?

According to a news item in the morning paper, Oprah sauntered into the twitter arena with 70,000 "followers" right off-the-bat.

L. Ron Hubbard must be turning over in his grave somewhere in Science Fiction heaven!

Meanwhile, the morning air waves were awash with cries of "foul".

"How the heck did she do that?" one envious bimbo babe was inclined to ask increduously of her fellow squawkers on air.

"She got 'em to give her all those tweeters," one sly disc jockey accused off-the-cuff.

Aghast, a female gossip-monger on the popular morning show lamented:

"Is that legal?"

"Sure," a jock quick on-the-uptake quipped cynically.

"Twitter's chief twit probably offered Oprah a twaddle of tweeters as an incentive if she'd sign up for the popular social hub during a live broadcast on her afternoon talk show."

Ashton Kutcher must feel old money bags breathing down heavy on his pretty lily-white a**.

Nothwitstanding, some fear that twitter has tweaked!

When mainstream folks like Oprah jump on board, the once-hip ship is sure to sink, savvy trend-pundits theorize.

"Twittering is not tweet any more, dudes!"

Even face-book is suffering a backlash.

Some whine that all this kissy-kissy "be my friend" stuff has gotten so candy-ass that it doesn't pass the smell taste anymore.

Yup, I'm going to start up a "book" rife with a gang of "enemy" Internet snots, I'll be able to take a "poke" at whenever I'm in the mood for a nasty bit** fight.

Here's mud in your eye!
