President Barack Obama...Medicare quote of day! Palm-reading gift for Birthday Boy!

Last evening - when President Obama attended a star-studded soiree in honor of his a birthday, he uttered up the Medicare quote of the day.

"When I turn 50 tomorrow," he chirped jokingly, "I will automatically receive an e-mail from AARP urging me to contact the White House to protest potential cuts to Medicare and Social Security."

Ok, so the President doesn't have the best delivery - not when it comes to stand-up comedy - go figure.

Uh-huh!

Mr. Obama will have to leave the one-liners to seasoned pros like Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, and Mr. Leno over at NBC.

But, surely - he has a unique gift or two to rely on - in the event that the gig on the hill doesn't work out.

If that's President Obama's actual hand imprint posted above - then golly - there is hope for the classy man-of-letters (for sure).

It just so happens, after all, that I am a well-known palmist (who has fathomed up an accurate analysis or two over the years since I first began following the teachings of renowned palm-readers and psychics like the likes of celebrated Ceiro).

In view of the fact it is Mr. Obama's birthday today, I am offering up a free reading!

In the words of Marilyn Monroe?

"Happy Birthday, Mr. President!"

Palm Analysis of President Barack Obama

The life line on the palm pictured above is long - and subsequently - indicates a life span into the nineties. The crease on the "inside" to the left is a positive sign of protection from out-of-the-blue accidents, and mishaps, which might normally occur during the regular course of the President's daily schedule.

The heart line starts below the 1st finger and runs across the entire hand, where it finally rests just below the pinky. Generally, this indicates a long love affair (with a childhood sweetheart) that survives the trials and tribulations of time. Because the line ends on the Mount of Luna, the lovebirds will end up retiring in a foreign land (near the sea).

Unfortunately, the head line breaks at the career line, which indicates a sudden career change due to unexpected events or an error in judgement.

But, because the Sun Line is strong and healthy - and rises up into the third finger - there are definitely many accolades, awards, and honors crowning Barack's life.

Part of Mr. Obama's fate is unwritten, though.

How the President handles the opportunities that come his way in the next five years will determine how his life will pan out for the next twenty years.

Bony fingers denote an analytical mind and profound thinker.

You know what they say: still waters run deep!

Because the mount of Venus is half-developed (not too fleshy) there is a need for Obama to relax more and court some of the finer "things' of life such as the Art, Music, and the Theatre.

Obama's thumb is a bit flexible, so it shows he can be a "push over", at times.

Kind heart!

And, how was your day, folks?

Fortune-tellers...to be regulated! Fraud concerns...

You have to wonder, did the gypsies see it coming?

To curb a growing concern that a cauldron of self-professed psychics and "healers" may be pulling a little sleight of hand, Officials in Warren (MI) have instituted new laws to weed out the chaff from the grain.

Starting this past week, all fortune-tellers (mediums, faith healers, tarot card interpreters), were required to pay an annual fee of $150.00 to practice their "craft".

In addition, each applicant serious about their gifts - and the right to utilize the "God-given" talents for the benefit of others (usually for a hefty up-front fee) - must agree to be fingerprinted and undergo a background check by the local police.

"We had no mechanism of enforcement to protect people against unsavory characters," Warren city-council member Keith Sadowski noted for the record.

"We want to be sure there is some recourse in case we do get somebody who is not legitimate."

Personally, I think it is a great idea since the pshychic field is rife with riff-raff who don't have a clairvoyant bone in their body.

Anyone can set up shop, hang out a shingle, and make promises about the future based on their alleged intuitive gifts.

By the time the individuals seeking counsel realize they were rooked, the gypsy may have moved on to greener pastures elsewhere.

The regulation now being enforced in the suburb of Detroit may reduce the number of scammers casting a negative light on the profession and those blessed with second sight.

Years ago, in Vancouver (B.C.), I used to be a regular guest on "Tomorrow's Fortune" on CKVU.

Each day, a seer involved in a different area of the arcane arts, provided guidance to callers who dialed in live from home.

On dozens of occasions, I proved my own "psychic abilities", which evolved over the years.

While I gave up one-on-one readings, for fees, I still use my sixth sense daily in my own affairs and to assist others in need.

Today, decades later, society is still grappling with the dilemma of how to handle a career pursuit that is out-of-the-normal realm, quite literally!

A police force in one municipality will only permit an individual to go into "practice" in their town if they determine the psychic to be of "good moral character" (hence the fingerprinting process and background check).

Last year, Will County (Illinois) decided to count fortune telling as an official business - along with tattooing and dog watching - folks!

Guess lots of gypsies will be taking up shop in Illinois to offer up some advice on politics and gambling (lucky numbers, anyone?).

Which leads me to the intriguing tale of the Maryland fortune-teller - Nick Nefedro - who won his case in June to operate a shop in Washington (D.C.).

Mr. Nefredo was facing a shut-down of his Washington (D.C.) shop for practising Yoga.

According to the ACLU, the laws regarding predictions and licensing, may have proven worrisome to Mr. Nefredo.

"It makes it illegal to say incantations to give good luck without having a license," he asserted to a reporter at TIME.

The ACLU defended his free-speech rights and won his case in June.

In that case, the judge even challenged a common stereotype:

"We are not, however, persuaded that all fortune telling is fraudulent," Clayton Greene Jr. wrote.

What to look out for when seeking a true psychic for advice?

If you waltz in the door - and the gypsy's face turns white as she proceeds to warn you there is a curse on your soul - turn on-your-heel and high-tail it out of there fast.

Because in the next "auspicious" moment, she'll be fleecing you of all the contents of your wallet - and then some - to remove it.

As P.T. Barnum once said:

"There's a sucker born every minute."

Fame...quote!

When you're relatively unknown
People don't give you the time of day
When you become famous, however
They're all over you like flies on sh**

Brad Pitt...embarrassing lost interview. Ouch!

Brad just might make my worst-dressed list to be unveiled Feb 1st!

On the eve of the release of - "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" - Showbiz Tonight (a News Magazine show) dragged out an old clip of Brad Pitt waxing philosophical about his acting aspirations and the vagaries of fortune and fame.

Oh my gosh - what an embarrassing ten minutes-or-so on celluloid - for the once-studly young romantic leading man!

Sporting a pair of ubiquitous horn-rimmed glasses (Poindexters), and a dippity-do haircut, the heart-throb's hands consistently flapped in the breeze, as he elucidated (!) his thoughts in a whispy faggy little voice, sure to have raised eyebrows in living-rooms around the country.

On a couple of occasions in the conversation, the then-wimpy actor used a dated hand expression - pronounced quotation marks in mid-air - to get points across to the host.

But frankly, the boy wonder looked positively silly, as he rambled on in a most disconcerting way.

Even the host poked fun at the elusive star after the segment was broadcast to viewers.

When the spot wrapped, I even shook my head in disbelief.

How did Pitt ever end up on the road to stardom in view of the silly-as-a-goose persona that he once projected in those heady days of his naive youth?

Well, you know what they say!

It's who you blow - not what you know - eh?

A tip for you Brad.

Gobble up all the copies, pronto!

And, burn before screening, too!

Brad, buttons pulling at the vest are a fashion no-no!
