National Republican Committee...swing state factors won Tampa bid! Boycott irrelevant...

Opponents of the controversial Immigration Reform Bill in Arizona - spearheading a boycott against the state - were back-slapping and claiming a victory when Republicans announced that Phoenix was passed over in favor of Tampa for the upcoming political convention.

But, the losers jumped-the-gun!

A representative for the Republican National Committee pooh-poohed the notion that the controversy over the illegal immigrant issue figured into the equation.

A panel of committee members chose the swing state with the underlying hope that Florida (with a little arm-twisting) may help them defeat President Barack Obama.

Florida boasts 38 electoral seats, and thus, has a lot of clout in the grand scheme of things.

In fact, because the Sunshine State was the deciding factor that put George W. Bush in the White House, Tampa was the logical choice noted Chairman Michael Steele.

“It was purely a business decision.”

Nazis? Janice Hahn a stupid cu** on City Council! Clueless in LA LA LAND...

When they invented the term "stupid cu**, they must have been thinking of Janice Hahn on City Council in Los Angeles.

No wonder!

In the morning daily it was reported that Janice Hahn has been opening up her big yap over Arizona Senator Brewer's decision to sign landmark Immigration Reform into law.

In particular, the bill stipulates that - when stopped by law enforcement on legitimate grounds - the individual is required to produce documents establishing their identity and legal status in the U.S.

In response to that reasonable request, Ms. Hahn has flown off the handle (must be that time of the month) and wildly accused Brewer of introducing Nazi-style measures which she alleges are in direct violaton of Civil rights.

Bullsh**!

Just on its face, the bizarre (misguided) notion by Hahn doesn't make sense, when you think about it for two seconds.

For example, when a motorist gets pulled over for a traffic violation in "anywhere USA" - and a police officer  asks for identification - are they within their rights (based on Hahn's wild theory) to refuse to hand over their "papers"?

Maybe they should call the cop a "Nazi" -  drive off angrily - and leave him in a cloud of dust at the side of the road!

Notwithstanding, Ms. Hahn's comments show her complete lack of sensitivity to the feelings of the youth of Germany, today.

Indeed, why should they be continually forced to wear a badge of guilt and shame - the outrageous conduct of their ancestors - which took place long before they were born into this world?

The past is the past, Ms. Hahn.

It's high time people like you (and the Jews) let it go.

As to the proposed boycott of Arizona, well, think again Ms. Hahn.

If  you (and six other council members) are under the impression that ou have the best interests of the people at heart - well - think again.

In recent polls, 70% of Americans noted that they supported Governor Brewer's Immigration Reform Bill.

And, just betcha, other states will be falling into line with similar legislation.

Try for the boycott, and you'll find your sorry a**es out on the street next election.

Your vision is "backward" not forward.

It's because of folks like you that Los Angeles has become a third world city.

San Francisco...Hilton Hotel protests & boycott! Blockade disrupts lobby...

Corporate giant fights tooth & nail over Health Benefits

There were dozens of unruly arrests - including that of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka - high-spirited vocal protests with a lot of sign-waving, and a crush of unionzied workers that disrupted business-as-usual in the Hotel's front lobby.

The angry boycott began with a march on congested city streets, boasted eight-hundred workers strong, and ended up a sit-down protest which blocked the front entrance to the upscale Hilton Hotel in downtown San Francisco.

Tired of waiting for exhaustive negotiations to cough up a satisfactory agreement (the previous contracts expired in August) frustrated workers took to the streets on Tuesday to vent their anger (with additional orchestrated walk-outs to follow in a bold-faced effort to get their message across to management).

They're mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore!

At issue, is a stickling benefit, which neither side appears to want to let up on.

Union reps are pushing for continued health care coverage with low co-payments which the Hotel is opposed to.

Hilton reps take the position that workers in the Bay area should help their end to cover ever-rising costs thrust on the providers in recent days due to the current economic climate around the country..

Meanwhile, tourists are a bit baffled by all the brouhaha, which has taken them by surprise.

Management admits the boycotts have hurt the industry - but - they've refused to budge.

In response, the Union asserts they are not being unreasonable under the circumstances.

In a nutshell, disgruntled union workers argue that profitable corporate Hotel chains can afford to provide the benefits.

Who's being unrealistic?

Los Angeles Film Festival...shamed! The Richard Raddon ghost haunts event. Should gays boycott fest?

Tattler readers may recall from a controversial post that I suffered a nasty run-in with last year with former Director of the Los Angeles Film Festival - Richard Raddon - when I approached the devout Mormon about covering the annual Westwood-based event.

In fact, I am still baffled by Raddon's bizarre conduct, to this day.

Shortly after I published the tell-all on the Internet, I spied a sudden surge on searches for Richard Raddon on google, which piqued my curiosity.

For some inexplicable reason, Raddon was suddenly a "hot potato" in the blogosphere; so, I dived in head-long and conducted my own dragnet on the high-profile film fest organizer to get to the bottom of the "dish".

Within minutes, I stumbled upon a whole heap-load of nasty sh** on the odd-ball local celebrity in the film biz.

A headlining scandal took the cake.

Allegedly, as "gays" in the Los Angeles lower mainland were engaging in a bitter fight tooth & nail over the issues pertaining to Proposition 8 (initiative to ban gay marriage in California) individuals - Raddon, for one - were stabbing 'em in the back by silently donating significant funds to support the cause.

Raddon's contribution to the witch-hunt?

A thousand bucks!

Shortly afterward, a war of words between "gay activists" and "Mormons" hit the fan, and a controversy erupted in the community that led to angry marches in the street and near riots.

Gays got organized in military-style precision!

Before you could say tit-for-tat, a boycott was launched against all businesses and individuals that contributed funds to the Prop 8 initiative, to demonstrate the clout of the pink dollar.

A trendy Mexican diner on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood - frequented by gays in the neighborhood for decades - was the first to feel the pinch and cave in.

The Los Angeles Film Festival was also a prime target ripe for levelling.

Unless Raddon was "let go", gays and their vocal supporters, threatened to boycott the Fest - shut-it down - if possible.

Bowing to pressure, Richard Raddon resigned, and justice appeared to rule the day.

However, the controversy was still bubbling on a back burner behind closed doors.

On the heels of the resignation, actor Don Cheadle - a member of the Festival Board - proceeded to urge Raddon not to kow-tow to the demands of the angry mob (along with a handful of other Directors at the Los Angeles Film Festival who held similar views).

This triggered a heated dialogue on various issues which was awash in the press for weeks on end.

When push came to shove, Raddon honored the resignation, and gays breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Now, as the new Festival (2009) prepares to launch in Westwood in the next ten days or so, there remains one burning question to be answered.

Since Richard Raddon supporters are still firmly ensconced at the LA Film Festival - and no doubt still hold their prior views on gays, the Mormons, the right to contribute funds to political causes (no matter how morally reprehensible), and a ban on gay marriage in California - should the gay community launch a boycott this year to ferret the rest out?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Prop 8...Californians Against Hate make headway in Utah with Mormons. Boycott with Garff Automotive ends...

A few weeks ago, Ken Karger and Californians Against Hate (a group Karger founded) called for a boycott of Ken Garff Automotive Group at a Salt Lake City news conference, based on a $100,000.00 donation the family matriarch - Katharine Garff - proffered in support of Proposition 8 (ban on gay marriage).

In a follow-up to that meeting - Mr. Karger contacted me on Friday to inform me that the boycott has been terminated - because of the remarkable headway that has been made with the CEO of the Automotive Group, John Garff.

"A reporter there asked me if I would be willing to meet with John Garff. A few hours later, I was in his office. We had a wide-ranging and very productive two-hour meeting," the gay activist noted in his communication to me.

In addition to that "healing" moment, Karger was elated to report that Garff and his father (Robert Garff) later met with National LGBT community leader, Bruce Bastian, as well.

Bastian is also a Utah philanthropist.

The purpose of the second meeting, according to Karger, was to share perspectives and to discuss a variety of issues in an effort to find mutual respect and understanding over the Proposition 8 issue.

Behind closed doors an actual agreement was made that satisfied Bastian.

Although terms of an actual agreement were not released, sources noted to me that Garff officials have agreed to adopt a nondiscrimination policy for gay, lesbian and transgender employees.

Mr. Karger was so pleased with the meeting of hearts & minds that occurred on that momentous occasion that he elected to immediately end the boycott against the Automotive Group immediately.

"Last Friday, I met with Robert and John Garff. I believe that both Robert and John left the meeting with a better understanding of my work, the LGBT community, and the emotional significance of the passing of Proposition 8 to our community. I believe the Garff family now fully understands how sensitive and important this issue is to our community and to their friends and neighbors."

Meanwhile, the Garff's were anxious to express their feelings on the issues on record, as well.

"In response to the Ken Garff Automotive Group boycott that was called for by Californians Against Hate, I met with Fred Karger, its founder. My father, Robert, and I subsequently met with Bruce Bastian, a national LGBT philanthropist with local ties to Utah. I believe we all came away from those meetings with a greater level of mutual respect and understanding."

Karger concluded his heartfelt message to me by noting that as Utah progresses towards an era of equality for all families, he is extremely grateful to the Garff family for listening to the community in which they reside and do business in.

"I look forward to working together towards a better future for all."

Now, If the rest of those much-married Mormons in Utah would hop on board - maybe the rest of the community that is inclined toward getting hitched with one special person - would also have a shot at marital bliss!

Bill Clinton...wishy-washy & lacks integrity! Former Prez ignores Prop 8 protests slated for San Diego

Another testy moment for slick Willy!

In spite of the fact Bill Clinton has stated for the record that he opposes Proposition 8, the former President has refused to cancel a speaking engagement ($$$) at a San Diego Hotel on Sunday - owned and operated by businessman David Manchester - who contributed $125,000.00 in support of the anti-gay marriage initiative in California.

Opponents to Proposition 8 have been boycotting the Hotel - in a vocal strident action - which has allegedly resulted in a revenue loss of over $2 million to the smug Hotelier.

Although reputable organizations such as the American Association of Law Schools, the California Nurses Association, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefits have honored the boycott in the recent past by foregoing on following through on events booked at the Manchester, the California State Bar - who have invited slick Willy to elucidate his thoughts on the holiday weekend - won't budge.

A Clinton lackey informed Associated Press that while Clinton's views have not changed on the issue, he intends to honor his commitment to speak.

Of course, this is from the man who has always been wishy-washy to begin with.

Slick Willy was the ingenuous dude who admitted to smoking marijuana - but, not before asserting first - that he did not "inhale".

The former PREZ with the active libido also conjured up a curious slogan for the military when the issue of Homosexuality reared its ugly - um - head.

"Don't ask. Don't tell."

I guess the Lewinski affair inspired that one - at least from Hillary's point of view - I'd speculate.

And, if I am not mistaken, the flim-flam man also also had the audacity to stoop quite low and split hairs when it came time to fess up about his infidelities.

"It depends on what "is" is," he conjectured, with an awkward "caught with his di** in the wringer" sort-of expression on his naughty little school-boy face!

If Mr. Clinton took a defiant stand, instead of sitting on the picket fence once again, he might effect some positive change instead of the same old tripe.

In fact, I just betcha that if Clinton backed out of the commitment this late in the game, while the spotlight is so intense on the issues, his sponsors just might re-think their stance on Proposition 8, don't 'ya think?

But, since the man has no integrity?

Won't happen.

He'll just slink away with his di** hanging limply between his legs, as usual.

Proposition 8...boycotts taking effect! Yes voters cry foul...

Opponents of Proposition 8 have shifted gears after protests in the streets earlier this week caught the attention of the National media.

Now, gay activists are moving ahead to exert their economic power, by boycotting businesses which voted "yes" on the initiative to ban gay marriages in the sunshine (!) State.

Ron Prentice of ProtectMarriage.com has called "foul".

"No matter what your opinion of Proposition 8, we should all agree that it is wrong to intimidate and harass churches, businesses and individuals for participating in the democratic process," he argued to the media in recent days.

According to Prentice, boycotters are "unabashedly trampling on the rights of others."

Not true!

I agree that harassment, per se, is wrong.

However, boycotters do have a legal right to stand in the street with signs and protest the actions of individuals and/or businesses that engaged in a process that they believe denied their rights.

And, on Wednesday night, an angry mob did just that.

Hundreds of protestors converged on the El Coyote restaurant on Beverly Boulevard - much to the dismay of the owners of the establishment - who have (by the way) collected many "gay" dollars for goods and services over the years.

For some inexplicable reason, El Coyote Manager Marjorie Christoffersen elected to contribute $100 to the "Yes" on Proposition 8 cause, which resulted in the protest outside the popular eatery.

Although the disciple of the Mormon Church allegedly appeared outside of the restaurant - and broke down in tears over the incident - protestors were unrelenting.

As they should have been.

Yes, California voters are entitled to cast a ballot as they wish, and contribute funds for a proposed initiative they opt to back.

Likewise, gay individuals have a right to boycott individuals and businesses who vote "down" their lifestyle and their inalienable right to equality pursuant to the California Constitution.

If the voters who supported Proposition 8 had any integrity, they would follow through all the way.

For example, "Yes" supporters would not seek out "gay" patronage or support any gay businesses, to underscore how vehemently opposed they are to the gay lifestyle and same-sex marriages.

While supporters of Prop 8 are inclined to deny gays the right to marry and equal status - ultimately - businessmen in the area have no qualms about accepting gay pinkbacks.

Indeed, the backstabbers seek the best of both worlds, to their advantage.

Sorry folks, it doesn't work that way!

In the wake of the boycotts now underway, strident opponents to gay marriage are now whining about potential losses and belly-aching about the gay community's bold-faced efforts to hurt 'em where it matters most, in the pocketbook.

The gay community has got 'em by the short and curlies, so why let go?

Fred Karger, a retired political consultant and resident of Los Angeles, put it succinctly when he made a statement to the press recently about the issue.

"People are determining who their friends are and who are not their friends. People need to be held accountable for their financial support."

Those interested in boycotting businesses (and individuals) who donated money in support of Proposition 8 may surf to the "Californians against Hate" website to determine who the culprits are and act accordingly.

Robert Hoehn (a VP at Hoehn Motors in Carlsbaad) - who contributed $25,000 in support of Prop 8 - is now suffering a lot of angst over his misstep.

He vowed to a reporter that in the future he'll find a discreet way to contribute funds without being found out by the gay community.

Well, he hasn't learned a thing on the heels of the controversy, now has he?

A boycott of Hoehn Motors should commence immediately.

Let's put that bozo out of business, straight away, folks!

Meanwhile, Ms. Christoffersen (El Coyote employee) left town.

If these individuals feel so strongly about the cause, and that what they did was politically and morally correct, why are they hiding their faces now?

Guilt? Shame? Conscience?
