Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio...sells pink undies on the cheap! Are you man enough?

I laughed out loud today when I spied a brief (no pun intended) news report in the morning daily about the novel actions an Arizona Sheriff took to prevent inmates from lifting state-issued not-so tightie-whities (Casey Anthony can attest to that fact) from the local jailhouse.

Apparently, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been known to distribute pink undies to the defendants in his charge, on the obvious premise that no self-respecting stud would ever be caught dead (or alive) in a pair "outside" on the streets.

I  wonder, though.

Just the other day, I posted a story about two young hunks I spied strutting down the Vegas strip -  stark naked - save for a pair of skin-tight pink bikini-style suits.

U.S. Supreme Court...Arizona E Verify Immigrantion Law upheld by Justices!

Today, the Supreme Court ruled that Arizona was within its rights to require employers to check the legal status of their workers before hiring.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce brought a lawsuit against the state over the legal measure on the grounds that enforcement of E-Verify Laws was exclusively in the purview of the federal government.

Surprisingly, the four Justices who sat on the U.S. Supreme Court, tipped their hand when they gave clear and obvious signs at oral argument that they were inclined to rule in favor of the appellant (Arizona).

The final decision was 5 - 3.

Justice Elena Kagan did not vote in the case because of a potential conflict.

Kagan bowed out on the grounds that her previous position as Solicitor General in the Obama administratio
precluded herself from participating in the landmark case.

Although sweeping immigration reforms (instituted in 1986) barred most States the right to enforce immigration laws, there was a loophole which the appellants were able to drive a spike through.

Lawmakers left one clause in 1986 pertaining to “all licenses necessary to operate the businesses" which cinched it for Arizona in a nutshell.

John Roberts noted in his "Opinion" on behalf of the U.S. Supreme Court that Arizona is entitled to enforce its employment-verification requirement through licensing laws which turns out to be a clear opening for other states similarly situated.

“We hold that Arizona’s licensing law falls well within the confines of the authority Congress chose to leave to the states and therefore is not expressly preempted,” Roberts wrote with a nod from his peers on the Court.

In the wake of the ruling, it is anticipated that other states will now follow suit, to put a lid on the hiring of illegal immigrants in the United States which has been escalating out-of-control over the past year.

The high court’s findings in respect to the narrower employer-focused law signals that states have some leeway in passing laws similar to Arizona’s now-infamous immigration law.

A federal E-Verify requirement law is also in the works.

“I am pleased the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Arizona E-Verify law and their right to revoke business licenses for employers that knowingly hire illegal immigrants. Not only is this law constitutional, it is commonsense," beamed House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) who is introducing the measure on the Federal level.

On the heels of this ruling, some Arizona lawmakers are hopeful that another case going before the U.S. Supreme Court in the near future, requiring that local law enforcement officers check for the legal Immigration Status of an arrestee will be successful as well.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords shot! Demented shooter's murderous rampage in Arizona!

In the aftermath of the shocking attack this afternoon in Arizona on popular Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords - and others (which resulted in a couple of deaths) - questions are being raised around the country.

Why did the gunman - 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner - manage to skillfully maneuver and carry out the disturbing premeditated act?

How was the troubled shooter able to avoid detection once his murderous plot was underway at the shopping mall where Gifford appeared for a casual (but publicized) gathering to meet-and-greet constituents in District 8?

In a statement earlier this afternoon, Governor Brewer underscored that it was important to maintain an "open house" where voters were able to exercise their right to access to elected Government officials.

On the heels of that comment, News anchors reported that Congresswoman Giffords shared the same political philosophy.

In fact, it was noted that as a matter of habit the well-liked politician often appeared after a stump - to interact with members of the community.

Although the details are still sketchy, it doesn't appear that Giffords was the sole target of the demented shooter.

Curiously, a Federal Judge who put in a spontaneous appearance at the event (he was shot and killed) previously ruled on a controversial illegal immigrant issue which resulted in documented death threats in the past.

Was he in Loughner's sights?

Investigators dredged up video tape recordings on the suspect's YouTube web page in which he rambled on about "illiteracy" in District 8, a new currency, 1st Amendment rights, and a loss of trust and faith in God.

A sick puppy?

Coincidentally - just last week - the Congresswoman publicly recited key sections of the 1st Amendment.

Some say, that specfic reference to - "the rights of the people to have redress with the Government" - may have been what triggered the shooting rampage earlier today.

President Obama - who referred to the Congresswoman  as a good friend - expressed his heartfelt sorrow about the sad turn-of-events with a promise to get to the "bottom" of it.

It appears that the suspect was on the edge of the abyss these past few days - and for some inexplicable reason - finally toppled into it.

Regardless, the President confirmed he instructed FBI Director Robert Mueller to head up what is expected to be an intense thorough investigation over the next few weeks.

A nurse, watching a news alert alongside me, lamented that "this is what happens" when the Government fails to take care of the mentally-ill who currently wander the streets aimlessly and without hope in what some refer to as the "end days".

I noted that in a civilized society, it is the duty of the strong to take care of the weak.

She laughed cynically in response.

"People may agree with that compassionate thought in theory.  But, when it gets down to the nasty nitty-gritty, they gripe about the cost."

If that is the case, it is important that Americans vote politicians into office who not only care - but are capable of effecting change - as quickly as possible.

Illegal Immigrants...decrease in numbers! Law enforcement works...

According to a PEW Hispanic Center report, the number of illegal immigrants entering to the U.S. over the past decade or so, has dropped by approximately 66%.

A comparison of specific time frames within a ten year span have verified that the research appears to be correct.

For instance, between the years 2005 and 2007 approximately 850,000 Mexican illegal’s slipped across the border undocumented and without the required legal papers.

However, between 2007 and 2009 those figures dropped to 300,000.

A researcher in the field asserted that the flux in the flow of illegals has been due to the recession and a lack of available jobs.

The unemployment figures for unauthorized workers hovers at a rate of about 10 % higher than U.S. born residents and legal residents.

It has also been theorized that the drop in illegal immigration may be due to increased law enforcement efforts and deportations in recent months arising from a public uproar over undocumented aliens in the United States and the subsequent draining of  essential resources at medical facilities, schools, and in the community-at-large.
 
Also, it's gotten tougher and more expensive to cross the border illegally, allegedly.
 
"We know that it's harder to sneak across the border than it was four or five years ago...virtually everyone who sneaks across the border uses a coyote now and the cost has gone up. The increase of the border patrol around cities and ports of entry have pushed the flows to more remote places," noted Jeffrey Passel, a Senior demographer at PEW.
 
Mark Krikorian, a director at the center for Immigration Studies made his own astute oberservations.
 
"The findings point to...a consistent decrease  of the illegal population over time through (law) enforcement."
 
Douglas Massey, a sociologist at Princeton University, assessed the situation this way.
 
"Life's gotten pretty miserable for immigrants in the United States."
 
In contrast, there has been a slight increase in legal immigrants to these shores in the past decade.
 
In conclusion, the researchers note that the future trajectory of illegal immigration will likely depend on the strength of the country's economic recovery and the level of enforcement of immigration laws.

Arizona Immigration Law...News alert! Judge enforces "hold" on provisions!

On the eve when a controversial Immigration Reform Law was about to go into effect in Arizona - a Judge presiding over the proceedings - handed down a ruling a short while ago that effectively blocks a handful of sections of the Act from being enforced in response to outcries from Immigrant Rights Advocates.

To some legal eagles, the ruling amounts to an outright victory for opponents to the landmark reform bill, who took the position that the passing of the legislation would lead to racial profiling in the mean streets of Arizona.

In addition, many were up-in-arms over one section of the Bill which would have empowered Law Enforcement to check for legal Immigrant  status once an individual had been flagged down for a legitimate violation - such as a broken tail-light on their vehicle - believe it or not.

After I witnessed an event by the side of the highway in Las Vegas just last week, it became evident to me that if given too much leeway, Law Enforcement Officers may abuse their authority.

In particular, Civil Rights groups were seeing red over provisions that would have required motorists from foreign countries to carry proof of their legal right to be in the country which some thought harkened back to the era of Hitler and the Nazi's when citizens were stopped at whim for a look-see at their "papers".

In addition, the prudent Jurist gave a thumbs down in respect to a provision that would have disallowed undocumented workers from soliciting work in public places.

However, U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton did not toss the baby out with the bath water.

Some aspects  of the law will go into effect on Thursday, while others have been placed on hold, until the courts have the opportunity to resolve the legality (and constitutionality) of the more pressing issues.

Senator Brewer (Arizona) - the driving force behind the controversial Immigration Reform Bill - remain undaunted in the wake of the news from the Federal Courthouse.

"It's a temporary bump in the road, we will move forward, and I'm sure that after consultation with our counsel we will appeal," Brewer told the Associated Press.

"The bottom line is we've known all along that it is the responsibility of the Feds and they haven't done their job so we were going to help them do that."

Protestors in the streets were quick to chant their two cents worth in the open streets outside the courthouse after the ruling was announced.

"Migrants, hang on, the people are rising up!"

Huh?

In essence, the Government seeks to overturn the law on a couple of legitimate grounds.

For starters, the Barack administration felt that Arizona was intruding on their exclusive turf - and for obvious reasons - the actions of the Arizona upstarts needed to be nipped in the bud.

Lawyers also argued that letting the Arizona law stand would create a patchwork of immigration laws nationwide that would needlessly complicate political and social ties with foreign nations such as Mexico.

On the other hand, Brewer's lawyers have stated for the record that Arizona shouldn't have to suffer from America's broken immigration system when it has 15,000 police officers who can arrest illegal immigrants.

The old truism comes to mind.

"When you want something done, you have to do it yourself."

Senator Brewer and citizens of Arizona have attempted to do just that and got a slap in the face for their bold-faced efforts.

Arizona Immigration Law...Justice Dept. attacks on its Face! Ass backwards maneuver!

Governor Brewer takes hard line!

True to their word, the Department of Justice followed through on their promise to file a Civil Lawsuit against the State of Arizona and Governor Brewer (in her official capacity) in a bold-faced effort to strike down a new Arizona Immigration Reform Law which has caused a lot of hysteria around the country in recent days.

In the body of their “slim” complaint, filed with the court yesterday, the Government asserted in no uncertain terms that Arizona Officials overstepped their bounds when they sought to enact a law that would grant sweeping powers to Law Enforcement in dealing with the troubling illegal immigrant problem in Arizona which has reached epic proportions.

The “Immigration Reform Law’ was originally denounced because critics alleged that it granted wide authority to Law Enforcement Officers that may lead to racial profiling - and ultimately - disturbing Civil Rights violations.

Specifically, the law would allow Police Officers to question a suspect about their legal status on a legitimate stop in traffic or on a public street if certain criteria raised red flags.

A directive stipulates that an officer may pursue a line of questioning regarding their right to be in the country, for example, if the individual is (i) combative for no good reason when stopped; (ii) wearing long sleeves on an intensely hot day; (iii) clearly out-of-place in the environment (and so forth and so on).

Just yesterday, President Obama underscored at a news conference that the Law has the “potential” for abuse.

Innocent Citizens may be victimized because of the color of their skin, for example.

Curiously, in spite of those concerns, the actual “complaint” does not make much mention of the racial profiling issue.

In fact, the main thrust of the argument rests on the “Supremacy Clause”.

The Government has essentially taken the stance that Arizona’s Immigration Reform Law seeks to usurp their power and intrude on their turf.

It is quite a conundrum, actually.

Ironically, the Government - in effect - has filed a suit against a Law that has not got into effect that was enacted because Washington was not doing its job enforcing legally-binding Immigration Laws currently in force.

It is not a slam dunk for the Government!

Lawyers for the Department of Justice have attacked the Law on its “face”.

The Government may be doing things ass backwards.

Normally, a law is enacted, and goes into efflect.

Once in force, when issues of Constitutionality arise - let’s say - legal action is taken to rectify the problem, strike down the law, etc.

Legal analysts argue that it would have been wiser for the Govrnment to wait until an incident warranted legal action.

At this juncture - a Judge may be inclined to rule:

"Let's see how it goes."

Then, dismiss without prejudice.

Arizona’s Governor maintains a hard line regarding the new Immigration Law.

The strong-willed politician takes the position that Arizona had no other alternativebut to take the action they did, because the Government was failing (neglecting?) to meet its responsibilities in enforcing border control, and ultimately, Immigration laws in general.

Contrary to the Government’s position on the matter, supporters of the Law in Arizona stress that their bill compliments U.S. Immigration Laws and does not in any way, shape, or form negatively impact them.

Immigration Reform Act...President Obama should consider quotas!

The Man in the Mirror!

Everyone agrees that securing the borders with stepped-up patrols to stop the flow of illegals into the U.S. border states is not enough.

And, that fining employers who hire undocumented workers, is essential too.

But, the aforementioned measures are not the “be all” and “end all” to the out-of-control problem.

So, when the President noted that landmark Immigration Reform was the answer, many rallied in support.

Unfortunately, at this juncture, it is doubtful that the  ambitious proposal will see the light of day this year.

Then, why the televised speech on Immigration reform in recent days?

With Obama’s approval rate at an all-time low, pundits speculate that the speech was a bold-faced effort to send a signal to the Latino community, that he will make things right when given the opportunity.

In a nutshell, the President was dangling a carrot, and hinting that backing the Democrats would be beneficial to their cause (somewhere down the political highway).

It has been suggested that Obama could use his authority as President to grant a “pardon” to all illegal immigrants in the country - and thus - resolve the Immigration snafu with the flourish of a pen.

The notion is not a wild one necessarily.

In 1986, the Government passed a landmarkImmigration Act, which granted amnesty to undocumented aliens who could prove (by way of documentation) that they were in residence in the U.S. for a specific duration of time.

In the current scenario, the President would be forced to give a nod to at least 12 million undocumented aliens, according to the last record-taking on the numbers.

“Too much of a burden on the Nation,” some lament.

Indeed, illegals have been accused of not only draining public resources (the welfare system, medical services, school funding, public assistance programs) but also depleting the budgets to a breaking point.

In view of this, President Obama must be cautious.

Many solutions have been tossed about - from the “pardon” idea - to one that promotes “sweeping change” in a well-crafted Immigration Reform bill.

But, why is it that no on has raised the issue of quotas?

A couple of decades ago, it was a prestigious privilege to be granted a Visa or the blessing of residency in the United States.

In those days, unless an applicant was a brain surgeon - or in a career area that would contribute to the American way of life in a high-profile positive way - legal status would be rejected.

Today, power-brokers in Washington representing companies seeking cheap labor, are hell-bent on opening the borders wide to day workers to protect and bolster their clients’ profit margins.

To grant legal status in one fell swoop would not only overwhelm the Nation, but have a devastating impact on the work force and the economy.

Which begs the question.

Why hasn’t Barack Obama explored the issue of quotas?

Instead of just “pardoning”, or “passing a reform bill”, why not start advancing the idea that illegals in the country step forward and petition for legal status with the provision that they meet the criteria of a set “quota”?

After all, no sane Government of any great forward-thinking Nation, would just throw open the doors to the humbled masses without balances and checks in place.

Bottom line, a quota could turn out to be the “compromise” that warring factions on Capitol Hill may be able to accept.

Surely, a sophisticated country like the United States of America, can find an equitable solution to the problem.

Arizona Immigration Law...Nevada Highway Patrol incident triggers doubts about law!

Yesterday, I was witness to shocking conduct of a Nevada Highway Patrol Officer - by the name of Del Padre (Badge # 691) - which now casts doubt in my mind on the ability of officers to act justly in a given situation when given too much free rein.

As I was drafting the post (published yesterday) it suddenly occurred to me that critics of the controversial Arizona Law may be right in their assumptions that rogue cops will abuse their authority, Violate Citizen Rights, and thereafter, engage in cover-ups to hide their tracks.

In the illegal stop yesterday (on Nevada's I-15 in Las Vegas) Office Del Padre willfully and wrongfully ignored DMV paperwork and documentation, and the rule of Law - and thereafter - deceitfully sought to destroy evidence that would incriminate himself.

In the process, an innocent Citizen was needlessly "victimized" by Officer Del Padre, suffered undue mental, physical, financial and emotional hardship, and had their rights violated in the process.

In the aforementioned scenario that when down on the 4th of July - the motorist informed Del Padre of applicable State & Federal Laws in force across the land - but, he chose to willfully and wrongfully ignore recognized policies.

After the fact, Del Padre attempted to "destroy" evidence to protect himself from incrimination.

Can you imagine what would happen if a corrupt rogue cop like Del Padre was acting under the authority of the new Arizona Immigration Law?

I hazard a guess that people's rights would be violated left, right, and center - and that he (and Officers that run in that corrupt pack) - would persistently engage in conspiracies after-the-fact to cover-up their wrongdoing.

At this juncture, and in view of what occurred yesterday on a Nevada Highway, it is evident that the Arizona Immigration Law may have to be reconsidered.

It's obvious from Del Padre's conduct that some Law Enforcement Officers should  never be given carte blance because they lack the moral rectitude which is a prerequisiste for being granted some sweeping authority.

Latinos...exodus from Arizona? A surge to Texas, New Mexico, and California...

Reports are filtering in that the hard-hitting immigration law just signed into law is having a definite impact on communities in Arizona.

Accorrding to sources, in recent weeks there have been clear signs that Hispanics are in a state of panic, and already beginning to flee the border state.

Schools in Hispanic neighborhoods have noted that attendance has dropped dramatically.

In addition, businesses that normally serve the Latino community, have also confirmed that commerce is down.

Mainly, it's been a bad economy that has been the primary deterrent to many Hispanic immigrants seeking to enter Arizona, noted Jeffrey Passel, a demographer at the Pew Hispanic Center in Washington.

“If you have a bad economy and a hostile environment, then that’s likely to cause people to think twice about coming, and possibly even to leave,” Mr. Passel says.

Because there have been many illegals in Arizona, the new immigration law also poses a serious threat, which may account for the sudden flux in demographic trends.

"The economy is a far more powerful factor in immigration," says David Gutierrez, a professor of immigration history, at the University of California San Diego.

Arizona’s immigrant population has already been leveling off for two years now due to the recession, according to leading analysts in the field.

The Pew Hispanic Center reports a 40 to 45 percent drop in people coming to the US from Mexico, says Passel.

That’s supported by data on border apprehensions, which have dropped 25 percent for two years in a row, he adds.

Where are they going?

It’s more likely, they’re migrating within the US, says Gutierrez.

But, they may not go quietly.

At one web site that published a news report on this issue, a Latino posted the following stinging comment:

"Fu**  you !  We were here first."

“It’s got to be an exceedingly difficult decision,” Gutierrez  says.

“Once they return to Mexico, it’s much harder to come back. It’s much more likely we’re seeing internal migration.”

Most Hispanics who flee Arizona will join friends, family, or other Hispanic communities in California, Texas, New Mexico, and other states with large Hispanic populations.

Looks like California, Texax, and New Mexico - for starters - may have to pass their own versions of the Arizona Law, eh?

Latino...desk clerk discriminates against whites @ Siegel Suites in Vegas!

Latino employee discriminates against White Americans!

Have you noticed that since the nasty brouhaha broke out over the controversial landmark Immigration Law in Arizona, that Latinos have been striking back and discriminating against white folks around California and Nevada?

It certainly hasn't escaped my attention that cashiers at McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box - and regular workers in retail outlets around both states - have started to snub white customers and mistreat them when they are patronizing these establishments.

For example, one hotel guest arrived at Siegel Suites in North Las Vegas at the correct check-in time - at 2 p.m.yesterday - but was rudely instructed to return at 2:30 p.m. - or better yet - 3 in the afternoon.

So, the slightly annoyed guest, wandered off to kill time for an hour or so in the blazing afternoon sun.

When the hotel patron returned, he plunked himself down, and waited for a sign that the suite was ready for occupancy.

During the hour or so that the guest was off window-shopping a second employee took up the afternoon shift.

With a puzzled look on her face, she looked up from her perch at the front desk, and pointedly asked the gentleman if he needed some assistance.

At this juncture, the patron noted that the other desk clerk informed him his room wasn't ready earlier at two and that he was waiting for her nod that the suite was available.

She shook her head in disbelief and revealed that it was not necessary for that scenario to have gone down in the front lobby at Siegel Suites.

After all, the suite was ready for the guest when he first walked in the door!

The Latino clerk, who was quite rude and insulting during the brief interchange, deliberately lied and made the guest needlessly wait for over an hour for the suite!

The guest was obviously discriminated against because he was white.

This is one of the problems that has reared  its ugly head now that the battle lines have been drawn over the illegal immigrant issue.

And, the situation is worsened by the fact that economy-minded employers have installed Latinos in positions they are not qualified for.

In the aforementioned case, the Latino desk clerk demonstrated she lacked any common sense when it came to job priority issues - and that she was also totally clueless about age-old American traditions - like customer satisfaction.

In a nutshell, she abused what little authority she had to openly discriminate against an Anglo-Saxon American  - and ultimately - inflict unjust suffering on a paying guest at the Hotel who did not deserve to be treated in such an abominable hateful manner at the Hotel.

If the short homely woman dislikes whites, and is angry over the immigration issue, she shouldn't take it out on patrons at an establishment where she happens to work.

When a worker shows up to clock in, they are required to leave their personal feelings (and prejudices) at the door, and treat all customers equally without prejudice during business hours while on duty.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Latinos - from what I have noticed in recent weeks - appear to be under the mistaken impression that they are the only minority group that is entitled to "protest in the streets" and demand their rights.

We know this is true, because in recent days when whites have attended rallies and attempted to make their voices head, Latinos have not only called them racists but tried to silence their voices, too.

Over the past year, I have noticed a growing resentment towards White Americans, when I have crossed paths with Latinos in public or their place of employ.

Just recently, it was revealed that schools in Nevada have been offering up courses, that teach young Latino children to be wary of caucasians.

No one wonder they think we are their oppressors!

Although I endeavour to treat everyone as my equal - and with dignity and respect when I cross paths with each and every one - I don't intend to put up with any bullsh** on the other hand.

If Latinos continue to treat me unjustly when I enter into any establishment they work at, I'm going to go on the warpath, believe me.

And, it won't be a pretty sight.

President Obama...a chauvinist pig? Governor Brewer meeting a fiasco...

A mob of protesters rallied outside the white house today to stridently voice their disapproval of Governor Brewer’s controversial Immigration law in Arizona - and her subsequent meeting - with the President to openly discuss the controversial issues with the aim of a resolution.

It was all to no avail.

According to Governor Brewer, she never caught site of the rag-tag band of upstarts, nor did any of the nasty slogans hurled in her direction fall on her Virgin (!) ears.

In contrast, Barack Obama was up-front-and-center, when the Governor made her pleas for stepped-up patrols, geared toward stopping the illegal flow of traffic on the Arizona border.

Brewer told one interviewer later that Barack Obama was adamant that he wasn’t going to even discuss the Immigration Law.

If not, what was the point of the meeting?

“I’ll leave it o the Justice Department,” Barack barked out, in spite of the fact he previously went off half-cocked and categorized the law as “misguided” before he even perused it!

In retrospect, it appears the President invited the Governor to the White House for all the wrong reasons!

Because Barack Obama specialized in Constitutional Law when he was a feckless student many moons ago, none of the issues should have been very tough to tackle, but the President stone-walled nonetheless.

Essentially, the Commander-in-Chief manipulated a military maneuver to ultimately put Ms. Brewer in her place.

If Barack was tight-lipped, it was probably because he felt backed into a corner - pressured - in fact.

Last week, for example, his aides informed Brewer’s handlers that his plate was too full to receive her for an impromptu appointment today.

When Obama suddenly suffered a backlash in the media - and his popularity plummeted in the latest polls - he was suddenly inclined to cave-in to save face.

But, it was all smoke and mirrors, when you consider what took place.

In spite of the fact Barack and Brewer (two of the principals) were present - with their teams in tow - the President informed Brewer that there would not be any discussion on the controversial issues right now.

Brewer was told in so many words that his “team” would contact her “team” in two weeks and arrange for a discussion about the National Guard on her home turf, with the specific aim of informing the Governor how many "troops" would be allotted for the Arizona Border, and so forth and so on.

Pretty Screwball, eh?

If what Brewer says is true - and I have no reason to doubt her recollection of the events since many witnesses were in attendance at the White House's Kangaroo Court - Barack Obama has fallen to a new low in my estimation.

Does he have a problem talking mano a mano to a woman?

Would Brewer ever be invited to a beer summit, I wonder.

Is the President, bottom line, a chauvinist pig?

Governor Brewer's hands tied?

The tongues began to wag when President Barack Obama announced that he will meet with Governor Brewer (Arizona) tomorrow at her request.

Just last week, the President appeared to be snubbing the beleaguered politician, when he initially informed her handlers that - in spite off the fact Brewer would be in Washington on other business - that his plate was too full to receive her.

Was a tight schedule the culprit?

Now that Obama has done an about-face - inquiring minds want to know - has the President bowed to pressure (and/or public opinion) in spite of the fact he is obviously still pi**ed at Brewer for signing into law a controversial Immigration law he perceives as flying in the face of the U.S. Constitution and paving the way for racial profiling?

Barack Obama...send in the troops! Arizona border patrol relief...

Today, President Obama took Senators by surprise, when he issued a standing order to send 1200 troops into Arizona to secure the border and "plug up" illegal entry into the U.S.

"It was an awesome sight to spy those tanks rolling into the region," one bystander asserted.

The National Guardsmen are not law enforcement - and thus - have no authority to arrest illegal immigrants.

"We're here to secure the U.S. border."

A bold step on the part of Obama, especially when you consider that the President issued the directive swift and sure, without conferring with any politicians on the hill.

For residents of Arizona (and elsewhere around the country) - who have accused the Federal Government of not doing its job - this appears to be the President's ballsy bold-faced effort to prove otherwise.

Michelle Obama...was child's question on illegals a set up?

How timely!

Shortly after President Felipe Calderon of Mexico and his wife Margarita Zavala arrived in Washington to attend tonight's tony State dinner, Michelle Obama was thrown headlong into the controversy surrounding the landmark Immigration Reform Bill signed into law in Nevada a scant two weeks ago.

During an educational  "play session" in a classroom at a local school - with Margarita Zavala in tow - a student of hispanic origin asked the surprised 1st Lady what was being done to help one of her relatives who was in the country illegally.

Did someone organizing the event - with a political agenda in mind - set Michelle Obama up?

Michelle, unlike George W. Bush - who tended to choke when pointed questions were delivered out-of-the-blue his way- was quick to respond without skipping-a-beat.

Her choice of words was mighty intriguing,  however!

"Yes, We must make sure people have the "right" papers," she calmly told the young child as the media and members of the President's detail went into a tizzy.

Curiously, after the unexpected incident went down, individuals close to the student who posed the question were suddenly "not available" to talk to the press or comment further on the controversial moment.

A spokesperson (!) on behalf of the student and her family asserted that they were afraid to come forward.

From where I stood it smacked of a conspiracy to pressure the President into taking action.

After all, it stretches one's credulity to imagine that the child in question - suffering that particular illegal immigrant dillemma - would happen to be present at a such a high-security event today of all days.

And, likewise - be allowed  to pose a volatile question sure to rock the White House.

Arizona boycott...Mayor Villaraigrosa & Janice Hawn shoot selves in foot! Action hurts Latinos...

Ok, so I goofed!

Well, a couple of supporters of the Arizona Boycott suffered a little instant Karma last night on National TV.

And, in the process, established in the eyes of many - that the Council member (politician Janice Hahn in Los Angeles) and the Mayor (once likeable, but now shifty-eyed, Villaraigrosa) of the same third-world City - don't have a smidgen of grey cells between 'em.

For example, after Hahn and the Mayor smugly threw in their two cents worth on the controversial Immigration law - and went on record supporting the boycott of Arizona - their jaws dropped when the TV host pointed out an obvious fact (which they were too stupid to figure out for themselves before they jumped into the political fray and made fools of themselves at the taxpayers' expense).

"Forty percent of the Arizona population is Latino. And, these individuals primarily work in the Hotel & Restaurant service industry. Your boycott is going to hurt the people you're trying to allegedly protect."

Duh!

By the look on Villaraigrosa's face, it was ovious he was unaware of that fact - or just neglected to take stock of all sides of the controverial issue (and the ramifications of any particular action) - before jumping on the bandwagon.

Hahn sat there like a pimple on a pig's ass.

Uh-huh!

The other Mayors in sanctuary cities also backing the boycott should have known better - too - or at least been sensitive to the potential pitfalls and dangers involved with such lunatic action.

Barack Obama...& Eric Holder neglected to read Arizona Immigration document!

I feel a headache coming on!

Two high-profile politicians got their di**s caught in a wringer this week when it was revealed that neither had done their homework.

For example, at a probe on the controversial Arizona Immigration Bill (which was just signed into law by the Governor of the State) the Attorney General let it slip that he hadn’t actually read the ten-page document.

Imagine that!

On several occasions, Mr. Holder trotted to the podium at various news conferences, and denounced the passage of the Immigration Reform Law on the grounds that the controversial document was unconstitutional, discriminatory in nature, and would lead to racial profiling.

What gall!

How would it be possible for Mr. Holder to pass judgment on a law if he hadn’t even read the document to determine if clauses therein established that the allegations were true or not?

Sounds like the incompetent Government lay-about jumped on the bandwagon to appease a special interest group - or took the position he did to rustle up publicity - and bolster his public image with his own political agenda in mind.

More shocking was the disclosure that Barack Obama - likewise - had not even bothered to review the legal language which was carefully crafted to prevent the injustices complained about by critics of the newly-enacted law.

That didn’t prevent the President from pointing an accusing finger at the “framers”, though, and denouncing their legitimate efforts to curb a illegant immigrant disaster which the Government has failed to act on.

At this juncture - are Americans to surmise that if the President found it too strenuous to scan a scant ten-page document - that he was also too lazy to turn a page or two of the voluminous Health Care package either?

Latino Wisdom...an oxymoron! Arizona ethnics classes underscore that...

The country is going crazy on this immigrant issue!

If you channel-surfed around the old boob tube like I did this afternoon - news alerts interrupting regular programs were an obvious sign that Americans are not only riled up about the illegal immigrant dilemma - but prone to respond in a knee-jerk reaction to the issues.

Sometimes with disastrous outcomes.

When a couple of men showed up at a Cinco de Mayo celebration at their school - wearing shirts emblazoned with the American Flag - school officials suspended the boys from class.

Huh?

Americans across the Nation responded in outrage!

“Suspending a boy from school for wearing the red, white, and blue,” one shook his head in disbelief.

In their defense, the teachers argued that the boys' in-your-face statement on a Mexican National holiday was insulting inappropriate behavior.

However, in the wake of strident vocal protests from parents and upstanding members of the community, the school board apologized and rescinded their prior decision on the matter.

Elsewhere, a Latino student hung a Mexican flag above the U.S. flag on school property in a stairwell, which caused a young while male to tear it down and toss it in the trash.

Meanwhile, teachers have not remained onlookers on the sidelines, either.

On a Fox talk show tonight, a video caught a teacher on stage at a rally, urging Revolution in a feverish high pitch.

Say what?

In Arizona, another controversy arose over a law that seeks to bar ethnic studies classes in Arizona State schools.

One scholar (of Hispanic descent) recalled her own school days.

“I was taught that this was the land of opportunity and an education in public schools could help realize an individual’s dreams,” she said in so many words.

“In this instance, they’re teaching oppression."

And the courses appear to focus entirely on Latinos.

What about Asians, Blacks, Native American Indians, and so forth and so?

The main text - Latino Wisdom - is a guide book that urges revolution and resentment towards natural-born Caucasian Citizens, with chapters on how to survive in the hostile environment that is allegedly America today.

All the arguments are based on spurious grounds.

For example, the authors argue that California was once the property of Mexicans - and for this reason - there must be a call for Latinos reclaim their land!

By force, if necessary!

Be careful what you eat at the local fast-food joint, eh?

At this juncture - in my estimation - Latino Wisdom is an oxymoron!

Toss the ungrateful bastards out on their a**es!

Nazis? Janice Hahn a stupid cu** on City Council! Clueless in LA LA LAND...

When they invented the term "stupid cu**, they must have been thinking of Janice Hahn on City Council in Los Angeles.

No wonder!

In the morning daily it was reported that Janice Hahn has been opening up her big yap over Arizona Senator Brewer's decision to sign landmark Immigration Reform into law.

In particular, the bill stipulates that - when stopped by law enforcement on legitimate grounds - the individual is required to produce documents establishing their identity and legal status in the U.S.

In response to that reasonable request, Ms. Hahn has flown off the handle (must be that time of the month) and wildly accused Brewer of introducing Nazi-style measures which she alleges are in direct violaton of Civil rights.

Bullsh**!

Just on its face, the bizarre (misguided) notion by Hahn doesn't make sense, when you think about it for two seconds.

For example, when a motorist gets pulled over for a traffic violation in "anywhere USA" - and a police officer  asks for identification - are they within their rights (based on Hahn's wild theory) to refuse to hand over their "papers"?

Maybe they should call the cop a "Nazi" -  drive off angrily - and leave him in a cloud of dust at the side of the road!

Notwithstanding, Ms. Hahn's comments show her complete lack of sensitivity to the feelings of the youth of Germany, today.

Indeed, why should they be continually forced to wear a badge of guilt and shame - the outrageous conduct of their ancestors - which took place long before they were born into this world?

The past is the past, Ms. Hahn.

It's high time people like you (and the Jews) let it go.

As to the proposed boycott of Arizona, well, think again Ms. Hahn.

If  you (and six other council members) are under the impression that ou have the best interests of the people at heart - well - think again.

In recent polls, 70% of Americans noted that they supported Governor Brewer's Immigration Reform Bill.

And, just betcha, other states will be falling into line with similar legislation.

Try for the boycott, and you'll find your sorry a**es out on the street next election.

Your vision is "backward" not forward.

It's because of folks like you that Los Angeles has become a third world city.

Los Angeles...Latino shopowners on Olvera Steet hold back rent! Little Mexico under siege...

For the first time in years, I hopped on the red line and zoomed downtown (a scant few months ago), to spend a carefree day on Olvera Street in a part of town affectionately known as "Little Mexico".

Over the decades the popular tourist attraction has blossomed into quite a picturesque respite from the cement ravines bordering the precious little strip of property on all sides.

In fact, I was so captivated by the decorative tooling on the facades of Mexican-style restaurants - and a handful of historic buildings dating back two hundred years or so - that I was inclined to capture some footage on HD Video which I posted to YouTube.

Curiously, later in the week, a local newspaper reported that city council was holding meetings behind closed-doors with the aim of raising the rents in the festive little oasis (cut off from the rest of the city when the highway and bridge over-hangs were installed years ago) because they were too low.

It suddenly dawned on Council members that the valuable strip of property - a potential hefty earnings-getter - was being rented out for a song with virtually no profit flowing into the Los Angeles City coffers.

So, in January of this year - after a market value study of the property was completed - Council decided that the rents would be raised to be on par with other properties owned by the City and its tax-paying citizens.

Moreover, the extra funds were needed to balance the budget.

For example, the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument Society - charged with the upkeep of a memorial in the historic square - required an $800,000.00 subsidy from the city's general fund to balance its budget in recent years.

Increasing rents now is the best way to prevent subsidies from depleting city funds in coming years.

The report recommended that retail shopkeepers pay $2 - $6.50 per square foot.

The city controller's office has confirmed that most tenants on Olvera have been paying a paltry $1.35  per foot until the new rates were calculated and put into effect a few weeks ago.

Owners of kiosk-style spaces on the strip, on the other hand, have been paying an average of $300.00 a month.

Olvera shopkeepers should be charged $950 - $1350 monthly depending on the location.

El Pueblo officials have tried to push for rental increases over the years, but confided to the media in confidence, that a powerful politically-connected group has been thwarting their efforts.

Who could be more powerful than City Council or the California State Government?

It appears there may be an "invisible black hand" behind-the-scenes orchestrating control of the land.

If so, there must be a full investigation, to determine who the players are.

And, likewise, there must be swift severe action to nip the nefarious forces in the bud.

Surely, Citizens of Los Angeles don't hanker to the idea of corruption and violence breaking out in the streets downtown, true drug-cartel Latino-style!

In spite of the fact industry analysts have noted that the increases aforementioned are at a low end of the scale (tenants are still gettting a great deal) Olvera street tenants are rebelling.

A number of businessman, for instance, have held back rent money - and in some cases - checks were returned from the bank unpaid marked "stop pay" at the direction of digruntled merchants.

Imagine that!

Vivien Bonzo, President of the Olvera Street Merchants Association, is one of the flakes (who allegedly owes $5,095.00 in back rent).

Shouldn't Miss Bonzo (bozo?) be holding herself up as role model to her business neighbors?

Other tenants substantially behind include - Myrosa Enterprises (which is operated by Mike Marsical) - which currently owes in excess of $4,324.00 in back rent.

When a reporter from a weekly paper called Marsical's office to verify the facts, he hung up the phone angrily.

I expect that rude tantrum translates to:  no comment!

Will the defaulting rent-payers be given legal three-day notices to "pay or quit"?

Let's hope so!

After all,  if any - White, Afro-American, or Asian tenant refused to pay their rent - they'd be tossed into the street on their despicable deadbeat a**es.

In closing, it appears that Latino tenants have chosen the wrong time to fudge on their responsibilities.

The Governor in Arizona was recently forced to pass a landmark Immigration Reform Bill to resolve the issue of illegal immigrants crossing the border, and subsequently, draining vital State resources.

Now, their refusal to pay rent in California, underscores that Latino Immigrants are pparently a bunch of free-loaders who don't like to pay their way, bent on sapping America dry.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the next time Americans catch site of a Latino marching in U.S. Streets waving a Mexican flag, that they'll finally put their foot down and issue an ultimatum.

"Get out!"

Hopefully, the city will stand tough on the eviction notices, and other states will follow with similar immigration reform bills, to purge the nation of the illegal immigrant nightmare

Arizona Bill...Barack Obama proof of election eligibility required!

It's a bum rap!

 

The Arizona State House approved a bill (31-29) that would require U.S. Presidential Candidates to establish they meet the constitutional requirement to run for office.

Candidates would be required to submit documents that verify they were born in the United States, for example, which is a prerequisite for a Presidential hopeful.

In recent months, there has been a swirl of controversy around President Obama, in this regard.

Some allege that Obama was not born in the U.S.

The measure, if passed by the Arizona Senate, may settle the nasty dispute at-long-last.

The President would be required to show his birth cerificate if he intends to be placed on the State's ballot for reelection.

ln a nutshell, it's just another attempt to put the screws to a President, citizens of Arizona have become disenchanted with.

Hell hath no fury like a tumbleweed scorned!
