Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman... doesn't care about tourists! Selfish self-serving politician!

Mayor Goodman selfish a**hole!

Cash Cab picked up Mayor Goodman!
(fluke or set-up?)

The other evening, Mayor Goodson was featured on one of the local news stations, which reported on his recent appearance on the popular cable TV show the "Cash Cab"

For those individuals in the dark about the burgeoning TV hit, the premise goes something like this.

When tourists or local residents have the good fortune to flag down the "Cash Cab", the male host (who is the driver behind the wheel) turns around in his seat and offers to give the startled taxi riders a chance - to not only ride free - but also earn some greenbacks by trying their hand at a handful of trivia questions as they ride to their destination.

Apparently, Mayor Goodson was invited to take a shot at it.

Frankly, when I caught the news clip, it angered me.

What a good-for-nothing selfish self-serving so-and-so Mayor Goodman is!

Many weeks ago, I e-mailed him a complaint about a motorist who was shaken down by the Nevada Highway Patrol, and asked that he intervene, with the ultimate aim of ending the highway robbery.

In my communication -  I also informed him that Chief Tony Almaraz turned a blind eye to the obvious scam Nevada Highway Patrol Officers were engaged in - in a deceitful and dishonest attempt to extort monies from innocent tourists and out-of-towners falling prey to the scurillous misconduct of  Law Enforcement Officers at that agency.

As of this date, Mayor Goodson hasn''t even given me the courtesy of a reply.

Oh, no!

He'd rather parade around town with a couple of  show-girls on his arm, and cast a blind eye to the injustices that go on in Las Vegas, than show a little "balls" and try to resolve the escalating problem.

Although Las Vegas was named a "cool city" this week (along with New York) it is evident that once an individual scratches the surface that is entirely untrue when it comes to "Sin City".

What goes on in the streets of Las Vegas by Law Enforcement is downright criminal!

I have spied racial profiling on the Vegas strip, pedestrians being stopped and harassed and given tickts, and - of course - was a witness to a shocking incident on an off-ramp near Caesar's Hotel in which an innocent tourist was victimized by a rogue Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper (Officer Del Padre; Badge No 691) who was out to rustle up funds for the public coffers and meet his daily ticket quota.

Las Vegas is not a cool City, and I would urge that tourists and business-men  stay away from the desert Oasis, 'til Mayor Goodson gets off his fat a** and does something constructive.

Shame on you, Mayor Goodson.

You're a sorry excuse for a human being.

Amen!

Barack Obama...does about face! To meet with Arizona Gov. Brewer!

Governor Brewer's hands tied?

The tongues began to wag when President Barack Obama announced that he will meet with Governor Brewer (Arizona) tomorrow at her request.

Just last week, the President appeared to be snubbing the beleaguered politician, when he initially informed her handlers that - in spite off the fact Brewer would be in Washington on other business - that his plate was too full to receive her.

Was a tight schedule the culprit?

Now that Obama has done an about-face - inquiring minds want to know - has the President bowed to pressure (and/or public opinion) in spite of the fact he is obviously still pi**ed at Brewer for signing into law a controversial Immigration law he perceives as flying in the face of the U.S. Constitution and paving the way for racial profiling?

News at 11!

Barack Obama...beer bust politics! Poorly chosen words...

In a few short succinct words, Barack Obama levelled a criticism at a Law Enforcement Officer earlier in the week which triggered an uproar across the Nation that is still playing out.

The furor first erupted when the Prez - rightly so - scolded a Police Officer for handcuffing and subsequently charging an Afro-American Professor for disorderly conduct at his home.

In a nutshell, Obama called the racist cop "stupid" - at which point - Police Brass went on the warpath.

In a news conference, the arrogant law enforcement low-life's complained to all within ear shot that the assessment was not only harsh, but uncalled for.

"Without a full picture of what happened, Obama should have stayed out of the picture," one angry Police Official asserted for the record.

And, when the President took a leap - and expressed his view that the incident smacked of racial profiling - the outcry was swift and severe.

Whoa Nellie.

For a moment, it appeared a lynching may be in the offing

"The supervisors and the patrol officers of the Cambridge Police Department deeply resent the implication and reject any suggestions that in this case or any other case they have allowed race to direct their activities," Sgt. Dennis O'Connor (President of the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association) hissed.

Now, in the midst of the controversy, the Prez has backed down.

What a wimp!

Is Obama going to roll over for these pigs in Cambridge and take it up the a**?

Surely, he doesn't honestly expect for one deluded second that "beer bust" maneuvers (the Prez invited the dualing parties over to chat up the issues over a brewski) will actually win-out in the White House?
If so, he has more suds in his head that I originally thought!

Frankly, I think that Barack should turn in those "Mom Jeans" he wore when he threw the 1st pitch at a recent baseball match back east, and trade 'em in for a snazzy pair of "No Excuses".

For starters, Barack was not "off the mark" - nor did he speak improperly - when he simply called a "spade a spade."

Like or not, the Police force has - and will probably continue to engage in racial profiling - until the department is purged of rogue cops who wantonly and illegally engage in racist conduct.

In fact, when I was on holiday in Las Vegas a few months ago, I personally witnessed an arrest going down on the strip which smacked of racial profiling from the get-go.

But, there is a bigger picture that Barack Obama and Law Enforcements Officials have to keep their eyes focused on.

"Abuse of Power" under the Color of Authority.

The near-riot in MacArthur Park last year is a perfect example.

In spite of the fact thousands of witnesses stepped forward to provide testimony to establish the truth about the shocking conduct of Officers that railed throughout that fateful day, the Police Chief continued to manipulate the facts and evidence behind-the-scenes with the ultimate aim of bolstering the image of the LAPD at the expense of the victims.

Denial! Denial! Denial!

In another shocking incident a few weeks ago, which I penned a post on, the LAPD Vice Squad engaged in conduct that was not only questionable but downright criminal in nature.

In that post I noted that a middle-aged man was falsely accused of committing a crime, unlawfully detained, handcuffed, and subjected to various humilities in front of strangers on the street.

At one point - with the deceitful aim of turning in a neat and tidy package to a superior (a police report and collar) one corrupt rookie cop intimidated the witness (a criminal offense) and tried to coerce the alleged suspect into admitting to a crime (he did commit) to avoid prosecution (of a Felony).

Of course - the incidents of racial profiling, unlawful arrest, rights violations, and abuse of power under the color of authority - go on and on.

Until Police Chiefs around the country fess up, Barack Obama - in particular - should not let up.

If investigations and paper trails aren't going to get to the truth and result in charges being brought against offending Officers, then the fascist pigs must be tried in the public court of opinion - humiliated, exposed, defamed under the glare of the spotlight - if that is what it takes to turn the tide.

I say, go get 'em Tiger!

In closing, I part with a quiz.

Q: "What is a synonym for a Police Officer?"

A: A Professional Liar!

Las Vegas...racial profiling continues on strip!

This morning I was taking a brisk stroll along the Vegas strip when I spied three police officers harassing four Afro-American youths.

As their flashy eye-catching roadster (pimp mobile?) purred at the curb, the officers proceeded to unjustly needle the boys.

Over-sized T's etched with exotic jazzy designs on their face, stylish baggy knee-length shorts outfitted with zips and snaps, and a heapload of blinding bling screamed out loud and clear to the pigs.

"Black street trash. Book 'em."

I penned a post on this revolting trend several months ago just prior to the election.

In spite of the fact a "Black" President is firmly ensconced in the "White House" now, for some inexplicable reason, the racial profiling continues.

If Barack sauntered out along the strip one day for one of his infamous casual "walks", would the racists on the police force in Vegas shake him down, too?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Dept. of Justice...considers racial profiling. U.S. to become fascist country!

Last Fourth of July to be truly free...

When I thumbed through the morning newspaper the other day and came across a report alleging that the Dept. of Justice is entertaining the idea of "racial profiling", I thought I plucked up the "ONION" Newspaper by mistake.

The report noted that the government is tinkering with new guidelines to allow the FBI to investigate Americans without any "evidence" of wrongdoing - allowing the agents instead - to rely solely on a "profile" that would put the spotlight on Muslims, Arabs and other racial and ethic groups.

Currently, agents of Law Enforcement require a specific reason - or proof that a law has been broken - in order to investigate U.S. Citizens and legal residents.

The new policy would permit the FBI to open preliminary terrorism investigations after they have sifted through public records and available intelligence and managed to sketch a profile of traits from the crumbs - that when taken as a whole - may be deemed suspicious and/or worthy of pursuing.

Sounds like the kind of sinister plot Adolf Hitler might hatch up in a bold-faced effort to secure the destiny of his perfect Aryan Race, don't 'ya think?

Heil George W. Bush!

From the get-go - no matter how you fathom it - the wild scheme is un-American.

We have only to recite the inscription on the base of the Statue of Liberty to get our bearings in this regard:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Are we to amend that to read,

"Only if your a**ses are Lily white and foreign free?"

Notwithstanding, the whole "idea" flies in the face of the U.S. Constitution.

Does the Bush administration intend to toss the whole concept of "Due process of Law" out the window, too?

In that event, the presumption of innocence would be lost.

Golly, the Founding Fathers of this country must be turning over in their graves!

But, the Government's jaundiced view of things gets worse.

Factors that could make someone the subject of an investigation include travel to regions of the world known for terrorist activity and/or where there is access to weapons or military training.

In addition, a person's race or ethnicity would be a key factor in the decision to open up a clandestine investigation, too.

In fact, every citizen will be suspect under the new guidelines.

Whoa Nellie!

Are they daft?

The long and short of it?

I foresee a "controlled" society where the Nation's peoples - no matter their race, color, or creed - are not free by any stretch of the imagination.

Indeed - if any of the aforementioned guidelines are implemented - the U.S. may end up sliding down a slippery slope and along a dark and trecherous path to become a full-fledged fascist regime.

At that juncture - fear, suspicion, and uncertainty - will be rife around the Nation.

And, Americans will become the most-hated citizens of the world.

You can count on that, believe me.

If anything, I surmise terrorist threats will increase!

I also expect that there will be an uprising within unstable U.S. borders - and that just maybe - there may be an overthrow of the government, too.

One has only to look to the U.S. Constitution to understand why.

"We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Understandably - once there is a loss of "domestic tranquility" and irreparable harm to the "general welfare" of the people - the citizenry will pay heed to the prophetic third sentence of the remarkable - "Declaration of Independence" - and demand a call to action.

"That to secure these rights [to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness], governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundations on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."

As Edward Abbey once said,

"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country from his Government."

Amen!

Las Vegas...racial profiling on strip. Improper Police procedure; rights violations!

Last night I was strolling along the strip astride thousands of the excited teaming masses out for a night on-the-town when a shocking incident unfolded on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Just a few steps from one of a handful of Al Fresco nightclubs, tourists were taken aback to witness a small brigade of officers handcuffing a couple of males somewhat roughly in plain view amid the night's fanciful partying.

In fact, as concerned citizens are want to do on occasion when something doesn't "smell right", they turned their cameras and cell phones in the direction of the officers with the specific aim of capturing the conflict on video for future reference.

For some inexplicable reason, there was a glaring "police" presence out in full-force last night. Officers tended to be paired-off in two's and casually patrolled along the bustling street with a keen eye to passers-by who trembled at the end of their cold stares.

As I approached MGM, I was quite disturbed to observe a burly officer stride up to a young man, then bully him somewhat. Just as he was about to use force on the slim unthreatening fellow, the cop happened to half-turn and notice me out of the corner of his eye - at which point - he instructed the youth to "relax". Then, he ordered him to squat on the pavement.

I overheard the young man protest, "What have I done?"

A fellow officer approached another lad nearby and got a little rough with him, too.

What was most distressing was the fact that all the pedestrians on the street they were harassing were young black men, attired in fashionable hip-hop clothing, with a decided flair for a lot of bling.

Well, it hit me right away: racial profiling!

Notwithstanding, from what I witnessed, the officers were not following correct police procedure - and consequently - it was evident that their victim's rights were being violated.

To be singled out like that, and humiliated in front of throngs of tourists on the festive streets of Las Vegas, must have been a very degrading, demeaning experience!

In all the years I have been visiting Las Vegas, I have never encountered such wild, improper police conduct, under the color of authority.

It is one thing to be engaged in surveillance to effect an arrest for alleged crimes being committed. But, quite another to discriminate without good cause and openly engage in racial profiling.

If what occurred last night is a sign that things are amiss on the streets of Las Vegas, then the powers-that-be at City Hall - and other elected officials - should take swift severe action to find an equitable solution to the problem.

Otherwise, I can only predict that Las Vegas' days as a mecca for tourism are numbered.

It may be wise to pay heed to a quote from George Orwell's book, Animal Farm, in this instance case:

"All are equal except some are more equal than others"
