Michelle Obama...e-mails invites to sign Birthday Card for the President!

Today, Michelle Obama zipped off an e-mail to keep me posted on the President's progress on the hill at the White House.

In addition, the lovely 1st Lady (who has appeared on my 10 Best-Dressed List for Women, invited me to sign a Birthday Card for her hubbie (who turned 50 today).

Here is her message verbatim:

Julian -

Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family. That's no small task for anyone -- and more proof that he's earning every last one of those gray hairs.
This has been a busy week in Washington, but today happens to be Barack's 50th birthday. I'm writing to you because this year, the girls and I would like to do something a little different.
I'm asking friends and supporters of this campaign to wish him a happy birthday by signing his card, and sharing why you're on this journey with us.
Your names and notes will become part of a book that tells the story of this campaign -- who's building it, why we're in this thing, and what he means to us. We'll deliver a copy to Barack and send one to our campaign offices across the country.

Sign the card for Barack.

I've known Barack for more than 20 of his 50 years, and we've been through quite a lot together.
It still amazes me that no matter how many decisions and distractions he's faced with every day, he's always able to focus on the bigger picture. One way he does that is by making time for stories and letters from people like you - because he knows that this job isn't about him, but about the millions of folks around the country he's fighting for.
This next year will challenge us all to work harder than ever before, but the crucial thing is that you're here now, early on, helping to build this campaign.
I know that, like Barack and me, you have your own reasons why, so I hope you'll take a moment to sign the card and share your story with him and other supporters of this campaign.

http://my.barackobama.com/Birthday-Card

Thanks for being a part of this,

Michelle

Well, why the heck not, eh?

I trust you will too;  after all, on an individual's special day,  I believe it is important to celebrate the anniversary of their birth (and put all differences aside).

We didn't ask the Lord to come into this world, 'ya know?

So, folks need  to give each other a little boost now and then, eh?

Amen!

Matthew McConaughey's ass...most envied by males! Michelle Obama's arms cause envy!

I recall when a producer first cast Matthew McConaughey for a lead role in one drama years ago that he specifically noted in one interview that he chose the revealng slacks that Matthew 's character wore in the flick to "accent" and draw attention to his "tight" little butt.

That speciall attention to details turned out to be a plus for the actor.

Once the film was released - McConaughey was catapulted into the stratosphere - and he was not only lauded as a new sex symbol (one of the sexist men alive) - but a promising talented actor on the scene.

Now, on the subject of fitness and "body shape", American males have noted in a recent poll that Matthew's butt is the one they pine for!

Uh-huh.

From what I gather, that trim ass is still quite "perky", too.

Judging from the photograph above, of course!

Meanwhile, although unflattering photo-shopped photos have shown up on the Internet of the 1st Lady, the same poll determined that women most-admired - and longed for - the well-sculptured arms of Michelle Obama.

Go figure!

Just betcha - that if all the "perfect parts" of the bodies selected in the poll were assembled, that the physiques of the male and female individuals would be downright scary!

After all, it is each "distinct individual attribute" - combined with our flaws - that makes each and every one of us so darn interesting (and unique).

Of course, I could use a few crunches to work off a bit of flab on my stomach, so I'm heading out to the gym to correct that flaw right now.

See 'ya there!

Michelle Obama...Sarah Palin takes pot shots! 65 percent approval rate!

Michelle's wave of popularity

Michelle Obama enthusiastically hit the campaign trail this past week - and for the most part - was warmly-received by voters around the country whenever she touched-down to offer up a pep talk.

A poll - which established the gracious 1st Lady’s approval rate was up to an all-time high of sixty-five percent - inspired curious quips from media hounds on the sidelines.

“She’s a rock star,” one upbeat reporter joked on the nightly news.

Political analysts noted that Mrs. Obama’s was in an enviable position.

“Because she is not running for an office, Michelle doesn’t have to attack the opposition. Unlike candidates stumping for votes, she can rise above the fray in a dignified manner.”

That has not deterred one political opponent from bad-mouthing the 1st Lady, though.

At a rally just yesterday, former VP hopeful - Sarah Palin - was inclined to take a poke at Barack’s better half.

The folksy tea party politico revisited a touchy subject which ended up triggering a negative response from the audience.

Uh-huh.

Palin’s lament over Mrs. Obama’s previous remarks about being proud to be an “American” for the first time - which caused an uproar on the campaign trail last year - fell on deaf ears on this occasion.

Although voters forgave and moved on, Palin’s attempt to breathe life into a dead issue - flog a dead horse - didn’t bode well for her.

Boos from the audience underscored that Palin's attacks were not appreciated by many at the rally.

In fact - in a recent poll - fifty-six percent of the voters said they would not vote for any candidate that was being endorsed by Sarah Palin.

Ouch!

Meanwhile, Mrs. Obama continues to soar above Palin in popularity, for obvious reasons.

You can’t buy “class”, Sarah.

You either have it or ‘ya don’t.

By the way, Michelle Obama made by Best-dressed list this past year.

Nevada...lawmakers seek enforcement of proper pronunciation! Las Vegas, please!

Theme Hotels in Nevada popular!

For a city that wails ad nauseam about the ailing economy, down revenues, and empty Hotel rooms - the Natives sure are downright fussy - when it comes to uttering up the names of their fair state and the glitzy desert oasis.

News anchors have been reporting this week that City Officials - and locals - are miffed at folks who traipse into town and persist in incorrectly mis-pronouncing the the name of the Silver State with a noticeable "h" sound tagged on at the end.

Nev-a-dah?

No way!

In fact, one politician - still angered by the President's swipe at the City of Las Vegas last year - seized on the opportunity to take a slap at Barack's better half.

In a brief segment on the news - a video of the 1st Lady allegedly mangling the pronunciation - was rustled up and broadcast to millions of viewers with the specific aim of making the Prez's hubbie - not only look "bad" - but give the impression that Michelle is poorly uneducated (because she is a product of a lower class of  U.S. "blacks").

No matter!
Government officials are so annoyed over the problem that they are prepared to introduce a law to dictate the proper pronunciation

OMG!

On the heels of the "Nevada" controversy, one newsie was quick to throw in his two cents worth, too.

"And, its Las Vegas - please - not Vegas."

I am originally from Toronto, and I always pronounce the Native "Indian" word correctly with a distinct "o" vowel sound on the tail end of the word.

However, it is quite common for Canucks who hail from Toronto "the good" to refer to hog town as "Toronta".

Do I get upset?

Heck, no!

I just chuckle at their lack of class.

For a gambling town, folks from Las Vegas, appear to have placed their bets on a losing proposition.

If they expect "out-siders" to comply with their silly demands, they're dreaming.

I intend to go on using the short form for "Vegas" for good reason.

On Twitter, for example, where the number of characters are limited.

In a nutshell, bottom line"

Residents of Las Vegas need to get real, especially in respect to this petty issue, which stinks to high heaven..

Home Town Toronto

Michelle Obama....modern-day Marie Antoinette? Takes flack for Spain holiday...

Jet-setting Mama Obama!

Oh, give the gal a break!

Michelle Obama's jet hardly touched down in Spain beforer her toughest critics were sharpening their knives and circling for the kill.

Whether it was a newsman  at Fox - or  malicious reporter at the New York Daily News - it didn't matter!

Michelle Obama was ripe for the reckoning.

Even a posse of blood-thirsty poison-pen-pundits have been hammering away at the normally well-received poised 1st lady.

In this instance case, though, the critics were lambasting Michelle over everything from the trip's price to a travel warning on the State Department's website.

At issue?

Allegedly a travel warning was posted on the State Department's web site accusing that racist prejudices could lead to the arrest of Afro-Americans who travel to Spain.

So, was Fox (a perpetrator of one noisy newsbite) expecting Michelle to protest to the webmaster, cancel the vacation (booked in advance at premium cost), or or argue ad nauseam in a bold-faced effort to dispel the wild attacks on her integrity?

How, by holding a press conference?

On her holiday, nonetheless!

Would you?

Talk about waste.

Since the alert was "deleted" two days prior to Michelle Obama's arrival, the controversial finger-pointing placed Fox in a curious foot-in-mouth position.

The issue is moot now, isn't it?

In retrospect, it appears that trigger-happy Fox - out to "get" Mrs. Obama - jumped the gun needlessly.

Ouch!

Then, the Huffington Post - author of one acid-tongued article - went out on a leafless limb when they included quotes from a supercilious OP ED article with the specific aim of sticking it to Michelle, too.

A writer (so unworthy of a credit that I won't give it) chastized Michelle for not only taking the holiday - but also for reserving a suite at a five-star hotel on the chic Costa del Sol Hotel - known for its tony expensive environs.

Although handlers explained that the Michelle Obama was going to pay for personal expenses out of her own silk purse, that didn't assauge the nasty of-line-critics who - come hell or high water - were bent on getting their pound of flesh (no matter what the consequence).

When the ridiculous scheme failed to pan out, the screechy nosebody proceeded to attack the Obama twosome- not only on the costliness of the Secret Service detail - but the wisdom of jet-setting to exotic locales during tough economic times that have prevading on these oil-soaked shores.

Oh, pooh!

From a logical point of view, it should be pointed out that had Michelle stayed at a cheaper hotel (she was lodged at the Ritz  Carlton, one of the gripes from her opponents) the costs would have been higher since lower-profile Hotels would have probably needed to hire on special security forces to handle the 1st Lady's sudden arrival.

When the mediocre writer pointed an accusing finger, and labelled Michelle Obama a modern-day Marie Antoinette, I laughed out loud at the lunacy of it all.

How cliche!
Let them - um - eat cake!

Barack Obama...Boys night out! Suspicious to Tattler readers!

When I logged in today, and checked for responses to posts, one got a rise out of me!

A "Tattler" reader was quick to highlight an ABC News headline, utter up an editorial (comment), and fire it off to moi!

ABC News

"And what do make of today's ABC News online headline: "With wife and daughter away, Obama has his boys over."? Not the Globe or Tattler, ABC News?!"

For starters?

This is what I think:

"Boys night out!"

In fact, according to the brief (very brief) ABC snippet, Barack will savor a round of golf with buddies early in the afternoon, and later the 1st Dude's closest circle of buddies will satiate their hunger - off the green - with a barbecue (with all the trimmings) on the White House Lawn.

What, no poker (five card stud)?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/08/with-wife-and-daughters-away-obama-has-his-boys-over.html

As to the part-tay, this inquiring mind wants to know - at a minimum - if there will be any drunken orgies in the pool and sauna cum - um - around midnight?

If so, will Secret Service let me pass through the side gate at the beguiling witching hour?

As to the "Globe" - that giant of the Literary world known for its excellence in reporting -, well, it's pretty much a given what their ballsy reaction will be.

The week-end will - undoubtedly - warrant a two-parter rife with all the juicy details!

According to the titillating gossip rag, these kinds of drunken romps (when Michelle is out-of-town and-out-of-harm's way) ) are nothing new.

In fact, the lusty (suspicious) editors have hinted that the President oft takes these footloose and fancy-free occasions to dabble in a litttle erotic "homosexual" fantasy leisure activity.

Surely, folks caught the screaming headlines of one particularly eye-catching issue, at the supermarket check-out which alleged that the President is "gay"?

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2010/06/barack-obamagay-rumors-plague-president.html

In closing, I'd like to thank the "anonymous" individual who posted the comment!

I can't always keep track of the nefarious sexual antics of all of the debauched Politicians on Capitol Hill, let alone the chi chi get-togethers hosted by a healthy black man (who has chosen to exercise his power and authority over the social planner at the White House) when Michelle is out spending the coin of the realm.

Shades of John F. Kennedy?

You betcha!

Oh, Daddy, the silver hair is a turn-on!

Michelle Obama...dining @ Bellagio! Prevention of obesity in Red Rock...

1st Lady Michelle Obama was spied dining at Sensi at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas the other night.

A day or so earlier, Mrs. Obama was a hop-and-a-skip down the highway at Red Rock, promoting outdoor health regimens to curb obesity in children.

Michelle Obama was greeted by Senator Reid who was on hand to participate in the high-profile event.

Although Michelle Obama’s appearance was categorized as an "Official" event (God forbid anyone should get the idea the 1st lady was there to support - or endorse - the Senator on a campaign trail).

Mrs. Obama exhibited good manners when she chose to lift up Reid by the bootstraps.

Mrs. Obama made a point of noting that Senator Reid was a key member of her husband’s “team” and vital to the Democratic party agenda.

“He’s been a tremendous asset - not just to my husband - but to the country and to all the kids,” she crowed.

There were about 100 parents, teachers, and government workers in attendance.

That afternoon at Red Rock, Senator Reid touted the new health care law and touched lightly on its preventive measures.

“We must do something to stop and prevent disease before it starts.”

“Prevention hasn’t got the attention it deserves,” the Senator continued, “but is the key to bringing down health care costs.”

At this juncture, the rag-tag event in the exotic desert, became a sort-of mutual admiration society right before everyone’s eyes.

“The 1st lady’s program to fight child obesity is a good example and the message she’s trying to send is for Americans to get more exercise and eat better,” Reid added.

On the press junket to Red Rock, Michelle Obama launched her program “Let’s Move! outside” which focuses on getting children to facilitate recreational parks and areas more.

On Michelle’s cue, the 18 children strong, were invited to participate in a routine of stretching exercises (to get limber?) - at which point at the 1st Lady’s direction - the rambuctious kids scrambled up a rock.

Michelle, clearly not in the appropriate attire for strenuous physical activity, stayed below to assist Senator Reid lift up children, when needed.

Although one child surprised Mrs. Obama when she squealed that she didn’t need help, at least there weren’t any unexpected questions from wise young ones (at the behest of their parents?) about controversial issues such as illegals, deportation, the need to hide behind rocks, and the like.

I suppose this group was thoroughly screened and prepped since the event went off without a hitch for the most part.

Next time out, I anticipate that Mrs. Obama will be less fashion-conscious (she has been on my Best-dressed woman's list, after all) - and more fitness-oriented in her approach in the future - to avoid potentially embarrassing wardrobe snafus brought on by a slight physical trip-up or a gust of desert wind blowing in off the Mojave unexpectedly.

Michelle Obama...was child's question on illegals a set up?

How timely!

Shortly after President Felipe Calderon of Mexico and his wife Margarita Zavala arrived in Washington to attend tonight's tony State dinner, Michelle Obama was thrown headlong into the controversy surrounding the landmark Immigration Reform Bill signed into law in Nevada a scant two weeks ago.

During an educational  "play session" in a classroom at a local school - with Margarita Zavala in tow - a student of hispanic origin asked the surprised 1st Lady what was being done to help one of her relatives who was in the country illegally.

Did someone organizing the event - with a political agenda in mind - set Michelle Obama up?

Michelle, unlike George W. Bush - who tended to choke when pointed questions were delivered out-of-the-blue his way- was quick to respond without skipping-a-beat.

Her choice of words was mighty intriguing,  however!

"Yes, We must make sure people have the "right" papers," she calmly told the young child as the media and members of the President's detail went into a tizzy.

Curiously, after the unexpected incident went down, individuals close to the student who posed the question were suddenly "not available" to talk to the press or comment further on the controversial moment.

A spokesperson (!) on behalf of the student and her family asserted that they were afraid to come forward.

From where I stood it smacked of a conspiracy to pressure the President into taking action.

After all, it stretches one's credulity to imagine that the child in question - suffering that particular illegal immigrant dillemma - would happen to be present at a such a high-security event today of all days.

And, likewise - be allowed  to pose a volatile question sure to rock the White House.

Michelle Obama...invites "Citizens Medal" nominees!

In an e-mail communication this morning, Michelle Obama noted that the President normally hand-picks worthy candidates to be given the nod for a Citizens Award (which is the second highest honor for an American to receive).

In choosing such a candidate, the President keeps a keen eye toward exemplary deeds of service to the country or a fellow citizen.

Michelle Obama chose the occasion to inform me that this year the process will include nominees chosen by - we, the people - of the United State (home of the free).

If someone in this great Nation has inspired you - or likewise - selflessly dedicated themselves to a service that has touched your life (or the lives of others) you are encouraged to nominate that individual for the Citizens Award.

Past winners of this prestigious honor have included Colin Powell, politician Bob Dole and Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks (as well as everyday heroes like Oseola McCarty who left her entire life savings to establish a scholarship for students in need)

According to Michelle Obama, the bar has been set quite high; subsequently, only a worthy few will receive a Citizens Award.

Here is a sampling of the special qualities President Obama considers a prerequisite:

*People who demonstrated a commitment to service in the community
*People who helped their country or Citizens by way of great deeds
*People whose service inspired & sustained an impact

Since a multitude of Americans work every day to serve others, the 1st Lady has noted that this year's Citizens Medal, will specifically honor those who have shown exemplary service to help others outside of their normal jobs.

With that in mind, President Barack Obama and the 1st Lady invite U.S. Citizens to take a moment to nominate a hero in their mind's eyes or help honor an individual who has been unwavering in their commitment to service in the community-at-large.

White House Nomination Process

*Nominations are open for one week
*Nominations will be reviewed by White House staff
*Nominations will be sent to the President for a final decision
*Recipients will receive awards in a ceremony at the White House

Good luck!

Julian Ayrs 2nd Annual Worst (& Best) Dressed list! Cher band-aid fashion a no-no? January 1st preview...

Which list will pop flavor Lady Gaga alight on?
(worst or best-dressed fashionista)

Last year, as a tribute to Mr. Blackwell (who passed to spirit earlier in the year), I unveiled my naughty 1st Annual Worst (& Best-dressed) lists for both Women & Men for 2009.

To refresh your memory, here's a list of the inductees, who were ceremoniously ushered into either the Hall of Glam or the tawdry Dregs of Shame last year:

10 Worst-Dressed Women & 10 Best-Dressed Women (2008)

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2008/12/10-worst-dressed-listcher-oprah-and.htmlst-dressed

10 Worst-Dressed Men & 10 Best-Dressed Men (2008)

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2009/01/julian-ayrs-1st-annual-worst-dressed.html

It's difficult to believe that a year has actually passed and that now I am faced with the difficult (deliciously perverse) task of singling out the Best & Worst-Dressed studs and buffed babes for my
2nd Annual list to be unveiled on January 1st (2010).

Will mummified Cher make the worst-dressed list once again?

How about a certain young chanteuse who's been squired around town in recent months in drop-dead gorgeous signature designer outfits?

Will she make the grade as best-dressed or shrinking violet?

A well-heeled newsie is about to get kudos for tripping-the-morning news stylishly fantastic, if I am not mistaken.

Check back at the end of the week to gobble up the complete scintillating list of the haves and have-nots, just beckoning, eh?

Band-aid fashion borders on obscene - pubes - and all!

Barbara Walters...fascinating! Gushed over 1st Lady's arms! Lady Gaga choked on sex query! Lambert a "homo"!

Surprisingly, the one-hour Barbara Walter special opened with bodacious Pop Icon Lady Gaga,

Personally, I expected teasers throughout the night - crafted to entice fans to to remain transfixed in front of the old boob tube - in anticipation of an insightful reveal of the naughty chanteuse as promised by the undisputed Queen of insightful probes.

So, if you dashed in the front door a few minutes into the special - or sauntered out to walk  the dog at the stroke of ten - you  may have misssed an honor that Lady Gaga accorded the talk-show legend.

Shortly after being introduced, the platinum beauty (looking more Italian than ever) slipped off her ultra-chic dark sunglasses and confided that she rarely dropped that barrier for just any showbiz sucker.

Barbara was in top form last night - all decked out in a chic black cocktail dress which accentuated her trim toned physique- sparked up with an elegant necklace which begged closer inspection.

More importantly, Barbara WAWA didn't beat around the "bush".

No pun intended!

"It's been reported that you like women," Barbara started off slowly, as she tested the waters with Lady G.

Before the flavor of the month could respond, Barbara pounced with a second question, in a sort-of surprise sneak attack.

Have you had sex with women?

Were it not for the thick white pancake make-up, fans - for the first time ever - you may have actually caught the outrageous stage performer blushing!

For a moment, it appeared for all-the-world that she'd answer the ball*y query, too.

But, when the slightly-quirky pop star opened her sensuous lustily-painted lips to speak, for some inexplicable reason, a half-expected bona-fide no-holds-barred confession was not forthcoming.

Gosh, she appeared to utter from the depths of her soul, that's quite a personal question.

For a split second, the poker faced lady was anything but;  in fact - in essence - the chart-topper was literally reduced to a shy awkward virgin reticent about - well - talking turkey!

A disappointment, when you consider that  Gaga is usually  the playful sex kitten on stage, flaunting her sensual brand of passion without any qualms or holding back.

In contrast, a few moments later, Adam Lambert shot from his swivelling hips.

"Yes, I am a homosexual."

Who knew!

On this newsbite, Barbara clearly caught the tail end of the comet.

Ho Hum!

Lambert didn't offer up any  excuses for his controversial stage persona in recent days, but frankly, admitted he let his passions get the better of him (in an unrehearsed fly by-the-crotch adrenalin rush) on stage that fateful night at the American Music Awards - which ultimately -  caused the swish-buckler to be banished from ABC airwaves.

"I wear my emotions on my sleeve," he confessed somewhat poignantly.

At the close of the interview, he had a message for American TV viewers (and critics).

"Deal with it."

Never to be caged in (or hankering to be too predictable) Barbara spun off in a new direction at this juncture and focused for a brief duration on the sports arena.

Brett Favre's flip-flopping football career was great fodder (and thus) established in the eyes of Barbara that he was not only a candidate for "hero and myth-maker" but ripe for the title of one of most fascinating (10) people of the year.

After all, the stud's unique brand of rise and fall theatrics (on and off the gridiron) was the stuff that legends are made of.

When Barbara announced an upcoming spot with Sarah Palin, an announcer noted  that the most-fascinating individual would follow after the spot with the perky politician.

Ah, the suspense was over; obviously, Sarah Palin was not going to be "the" most fascinating person of 2009 (just one of ten singled out by the veteran newsie).

I admit, Palin is the most intriguing gun-toter, polar-bear killer, and in-law hater.

But, one of the ten most fascinating?

Poppycock!

In the somewhat low-key segment,  Barbara asked point blank if Sarah wanted to be President.

Her reply was a tad evasive.

Fresh from commerical break, the upstart from the great white north, admitted she didn't know why people found her fascinating.

Say what?

Do they?

"There's alot of  bull-crap out there,"  she guffawed, when  reminded of the mean barbs  she was forced to endure on the campaign trail in her rented Republican monkey-suits.

If you ask me, most of the celebrated dung was being flung from her party.

In response to a query about Dave Letterman, she was hard-nosed and to the point.

"He's a sexist," she retorted without batting a pretty eyelash.

T*t for tat, eh?

Her life was "kind-of a reality-show", she sighed.

When asked what most she'd like to change about herself, her answer was swift.

"To be more patient," for starters.

What does she dislike most about her appearance?

Bearing five children tooks its toll, she admitted, so the old bod suffered some fall-out.

"Don't make me go into details."

Palin's idea of a perfect day goes something like this:

Snow is falling on the ground, it's a wonderful beautiful Alaskan day, and all family members are at home and enjoying each other's company.

Except for Levi Johnston, of course!

Talk about squeaky-clean bull-crap!

Time to move on, wouldn't 'ya say?

Michael Jackson was singled out in the top ten, too, in spite of his untimely demise.

Instead of focusing on the pop star and his music, Barbara chose to focus on his adorable kids, his conscientious efforts to provide a good home, protect the children from prying eyes of the media, and be a good father (in spite of the storms raging on outside of the family compound).

In that segment, Ms. Walters closed with one stinging criticism from Michael (which appeared to come straight from the grave).

"I didn't like being called wacko-Jacko!"

The well-thought-out top ten list also included a talk show host notorious for being outspoken and expressing unpopular views.

A governor's wife was also applauded for the way she handled her husband's indiscretions.

And, the intriguing list would not have been complete without an actor in tow.

Yawn!

Finally, the big moment arrived.

The most fascinating person, in the final analysis, appeared to have been catapulted into her  heady status by virtue of her muscular eye-catching arms alone!

Any ideas?

Yessir!

The prestigious title was bestowed on the 1st Lady, Michelle Obama - who, by Walters' accounts - was shaping up to be so much more than the sum of her toned body parts.

When asked to describe the past year of her life, the Mrs. Obama  was quick on the uptake, in a refreshing on-camera moment which was not unlike a breath of fresh air.

"It's been a whirlwind. I visited eight countries, planted a garden, got a dog, and now getting ready for the first Christmas in the White House."

But, there had been humanitarian accommplishments, too.

"We began to lay a foundation for the health of kid in this countrys. One in three children, you know, are obese.  African-American children suffer most from this problem, with hispanic children right behind."

Now, Barbara wanted to talk about the famous Michelle Obama  arms.

Could they?

"Certainly."

"Do you feel pressured about keeping them up," Barbara amusingly quizzed in so many words.

Michelle prefaced this part of the conversation by noting that - In spite of her hectic schedule - her personal routine hadn't changed much.

The busy homemaker  started to work out and get in tip-top shape after Maria was born, in fact.

"It was a bit of revenge because Barack always found time to stay in shape and go to the gym. I was resentful of that."

One day, it all fell into place, she explained to Barbara just like that.

"At four o'clock, I would get up to feed the baby. So, I thought, I may as well go to the gym."

Instinctively, Michelle also knew that if she wasn't there at the house, her hubby would get up and feed the baby in her absence.

"The arms took a lot of determination," she asserted, in a last-ditch effort to square away the details.
By the way, Mrs. Obama looked stunning!

A coral-colored gown - which draped off one shoulder with a understated (but elegant) fashion flourish - suited her pretty looks.

A swept up "do" - somewhat reminiscent of the Victorian era - highlighted and drew attention to her  distinctive facial features - in particular -a prominent  forehead, high cheekbones, and strong (determined) jaw.

Kudos!

The 1st lady noted - when asked  - that her downfall tended to be inherent in  the realms of poor food-based habits and low-brow TV programs.

Heaven, to Michelle, is an hour of quiet time - with the dog in her lap - reflecting on life (and day-to-day matters).

In spite of the fact Michelle has resided in the White House for almost a year, the happily-married mom still marvels at the sumptuous White House environs.

Bascially, she feels blessed, when the limo purrs up the front drive of the beautiful home, and the staff greet her with two heartfelt words:

"Welcome home."

At times, just betcha, Michelle pinches herself  to fathom if it's all a surreal dream.

In sum, the President's wife was charming, eloquent, and projected a classy image.

Ah, a 1st lady all American should be proud of, right?

Michelle Obama...a heartfelt message from the 1st Lady! Giving...

Michelle has a dream!
(to end hunger)

Shortly after I took a lunch break a few moments ago, I returned to the computer to double-check my e-mail before friends, family, and business associates begin to proceed with their plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday - which, for many - includes out-of-town travel to visit with loved ones.

Imagine my surprise (and delight) to receive a heartfelt message from 1st Lady Michelle Obama!

While other citizens around the country are selfishly thinking of themselves, Michelle has been busy getting out a somewhat persuasive message to Americans around the country, on the subject of giving in this great hour of need for so many across the heartland.

Bless her heart!

Here is what the gracious 1st Lady wrote verbatim:

On Wed, 11/25/09, First Lady Michelle Obama wrote:

From: First Lady Michelle Obama

Subject: Giving Thanks

Tomorrow, many of us will gather around the table with family and friends to give thanks over a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy - and let’s not forget pumpkin pie!

But for some in this country, the feast will not be as bountiful.

In fact, it won’t be much of a feast at all.

Hunger is on the rise in America - hitting its highest levels in nearly 15 years.

A recent report released by the USDA reveals that in 2008 an estimated 1.1 million children were living in households that experienced hunger multiple times over the past year.

To combat hunger this winter, we’re launching, in coordination with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United We Serve: Feed a Neighbor initiative - a program that empowers you with all the resources you need to mobilize against the hunger crisis in your community. Learn how you can get started today:

Barack and I are committed to doing all we can to end hunger by making food programs more accessible to eligible families.

But government can only do so much - it will take all of us working together to put an end to hunger in America.

That’s why we’ve made it easy for you to get involved at Serve.gov.

Find local volunteer opportunities like delivering meals to homebound seniors, offering your professional skills at a food pantry, or planting a community garden and sharing produce with your neighbors.

You can also create your own volunteer opportunity using our anti-hunger toolkit.

This holiday season let’s recommit to serving our communities and working together to feed American families.

Get started giving back today.

Thank you,

Michelle

United We Serve: Feed a Neighbor

Posted by Nicola Goren on November 25, 2009 at 02:53 PM EST

As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, let us also pause and acknowledge that many of our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table.

The President and the First Lady are calling on all of us to come together to solve hunger in our communities.

In this spirit, the Corporation for National and Community Service in coordination with the White House and the U.S. Department of Agriculture is launching the United We Serve: Feed a Neighbor initiative. The new initiative raises awareness of hunger issues and equips Americans with the resources to mobilize against the hunger crisis.

Here’s what you can do to get started fighting hunger today:

Find an opportunity to serve by using the keyword "hunger" in our "Find a Volunteer Opportunity" search engine on Serve.gov

Create your own service project using our anti-hunger toolkit.

Raise awareness & learn more about ending hunger in America.

Michelle Obama...calendar pin-up! Stocking stuffer...

During the course of a stint of savvy window-shopping last evening, I stumbled across a gift-idea for fans of the President's better-half.

Just in time for Christmas, a 16-month 2010 Calendar featuring appealing poses of Michelle Obama in style-setting fashion ensembles, has landed on shelves at Borders (for starters).

Golly, when I was a kid, there were just twelve months in a year.

How did the ever-graceful Michelle manage to finesse that little stunt?

I guess Barack needs a few more calendar months to put the finishing touches on Healthcare reform, top-level orders pertaining to the shipment of  back-up troops to Afghanistan, slap-on-the-wrist sanctions to be brought against Iran, and so forth and so on.

I expect that when Barack Obama is strolling around the White House plucking up stray lint from the plush carpet, or stepping inside the tony environs of his state-of-the-art shower facility, a wide smile spreads over his lovable mug as he hums a bar or two of an old Neil Sedaka tune.

I love I love I love
My Calendar Girl!

Each day when the Prez jots down a flurry of appointments triggered (no doubt) by a handful of sticky dilemmas that won't go away, Michelle's beaming face will be staring back up at him.

Provided he springs for an edition or two, eh?

For those who want to feel stately and important, there's a Barack Obama appointment book in dark masculine hues on the market now, which should do the trick.

What's next?

A cycling cap with the President's ubiquitous John Henry on its peak - or, just maybe - a book of Michelle's down-home recipes perchance?

News at 11!

Julian Ayrs 1st Annual 10 Worst-Dressed list! Cher, Oprah, and...catwalk catcalls!

Michelle sprints to podium to snatch up Best-Dressed prize!

Busty congestion & hooker lips puts Oprah on worst-dressed!

Mr. Blackwel king of the haiku quip!

One fashion victim is a Cleopatra wanna-be - another - an awkward jumble of fetish and purity.

Without doubt, the out-of-step painted ladies, are worthy candidates for the much-anticipated 1st Annual 10 worst-dressed list of 2008.

On the flip side, there is a silver lining, though.

In contrast to the red-carpet disasters aforementioned, a bevy of beauties at the other end of a chic spectrum, trip-the-catwalk fantastically with elegance and style.

So, with a nod to Mr. Blackwell, I am introducing a scintillating 10 Best-Dressed list in tandem with a "worst"-dressed run-down on the flip side.

Mr. Blackwell – a celebrated fashion designer – passed to spirit earlier this year.

During the course of his rich full life - the mischievous man with the laughing eyes achieved wide acclaim in the arena of Women’s Wear - having dressed a handful of high-society patrons, Nancy Reagan among them.

But, it was a fluky offer that descended out-of-the-blue one fine day that forever cemented his name in exclusive fashion circles.

Rising to the task of naming the best and worst dressed women in America for a features editor, the visionary fashion icon scored a big hit with the media, fashion designers, and the public alike.

In the form of a Haiku barb, Blackwell managed to astutely capture the essence of a subject’s fashion savvy, and the caustic fashion quip was born.

Several weeks ago, after penning a post on Fashion Tips, I was singled out by a blogger on the Internet as "the next Mr. Blackwell”.

A former model (who segued into fashion writing) I jumped into the fray with glee, delighted to take on the challenge.

My column, Dressing Right, appeared in a daily (Southam News) in Vancouver (B.C.) and ably prepared me for the task at hand.

Although US, Star Magazine, and People recently singled out a gaggle of "best" and "worst" dressed femme fatales this past week at year’s end, there were a couple of problems with their assessments, in my opinion.

For starters, the editors focused the spotlight on expensive gowns worn at high-profile functions or red-carpet events that did not accurately reflect the star’s individual style or taste. Indeed, the extravagant rentals, were getting the big push by up-and-coming fashion designers anxious to get noticed in the glare of all the Hollywood Tinsel.

Notwithstanding, gowns they plucked up from relative obscurity (Gee, where have I heard that expression before) were if-y choices. Whoever selected the entries knew nothing about fashion.

Heidi Klum, for instance, was propped up in a self-indulgent number memorable for its vulgar overuse of fabric.

Secondly, swooping down on a celebrity out-of-the-blue – without any context or hint of a fashion history to refer to – is a definite no-no when it comes to determining an individual’s style and fashion savvy.

A "best"-dressed candidate’s placement on such a list cries out for a number of key factors to take into consideration – body shape, complexion, lifestyle, consistent displays of fashion sensibilities to-and-from work, picking up the kids at school, at Hollywood premieres, and so forth and so on.

With that in mind, I plunged ahead and rustled up right-on-the-money 10 Worst-dressed and 10 Best-dressed lists for 2008.

10 Worst-Dressed Women (2008)

Cher
(Vegas Songbird)

A Cleopatra wanna-be mummified in 70’s fashion formaldehyde.

Paris Hilton
(poor little rich girl)

A Swedish milk maid gone amok at Frederick's of Hollywood.

Lindsay Lohan
(Party Girl Extraordinaire)

A pasty fur tart with all-the-wild-eyed innocence of a "tina" junkie.

Stripped down, on the down low, a sleazy sexpot without any gams or glam!

Emma Thompson
(stand-out fashion crimes against the Nation)

An over-ripe ingénue wrapped in swirls of bargain-basement K-Mart sheets, prone to tease with hooter-style booby-traps up top.

Oprah Winfrey
(pictured above)

Gifted gabber with no talent for playing "dress up”

A puffy éclair cinched in at the cream-filled middle with a zesty crown of chocolate shavings on top, one day, a jilted bride dashing home barefoot to gorge on southern fried chicken, the next

Sigourney Weaver
(a gangly spaced-out melodrama)

In one red-carpet appearance, appeared for all-the-world like a beanstalk with peek-a-boo limbs.

The gutsy machine-gun toter, for the most part, is alien to any fashion sensibilities past present or future.

Whoopi Goldberg
(court Jester or clown Prince?)

A grand lady of comedy in a hefty bag – punctuated with off-the-wall ties and bland layers of lackluster fabric on a secret mission to conceal congealing fat folds, that lurk beneath a gruff surface.

Even a gown (?) on the mannish mannequin is a fashion victim disaster no matter how you cut the cloth.

Pamela Anderson
(VIP for the Tattoo set)

Never one to be upstaged by a feather boa, the sexy siren is a flesh pot top-heavy babe, with hints of Bridget Bardot in a disappearing garment act.

Barbara Streisand
(Golden pipes and snoz for schlock)

A bellowing shrew keen on political top notes, swaddling in cutesy little girl fantasies in an upbeat make-up mood one day, prone to end up languishing like a beached whale in the shifting sands of Malibu, on another.

Ellen DeGenerres
(page boy with snappy shoes!)

A throwback look which harkens back to the dykes of the sixties - sparked up with cool argyle sweaters, polyester slacks in bland shades, and snappy sensible shoes - crowned with a butch haircut sure to attract any lipstick lesbo.

10 Best-Dressed

Nicole Kidman
(cruising without Top Gun to lofty heights)

A risk-taker from down under, occasionally over the top, who is often prompted to venture into wild couture territory on the heels of some whimsical fashion trend she's uncovered.

Invariably, Kidman successfully carries off the exploratory probe with her own inimitable style.

Michelle Obama
(pictured above)

Though crowned Blackie "O" by cynical fashionistas, Obama's hubby is "no" Jackie Kennedy by any stretch of the fabric.

Comfortable in her fashion skin, individual in her style, the 1st Lady elect always manages to pull off a casual chic befitting a carefully-constructed image, sure to fall short of ever embarrassing any self-respecting American. (photo above)

Candis Cayne
(Dirty Sexy Money)

A statuesque swirl of sensual style - showy, sexy - sure to turn heads when she sashays into the room.

Ariana Huffington
(Queen of the Blogosphere)

A thoroughbred sensibility with a keen eye towards a practical business "look", Huffington can mix 'n match with the best of 'em - and in the process - light up the world of rich media, faces of mealy-mouthed moguls, and fawning bloggers around the net.

Kathleen Quinlan
(Never promised a rose garden)

Subtly attired in ensembles for a woman of a certain age, Kathleen is a shining example of how to highlight assets without maxing 'em out in designer duds too splashy for a specific occasion.

Kate Bosworth
(Stylish lady)

A beauty with brains.

A midas touch when it comes to pushing a fashion envelope that excites! tittilates! Wows!

A role model for starlets chomping at the bit in pursuit of elusive fame.

Elaine Wynn
(Queen of the Desert)

A down-to-earth fairy-tale Princess in charge of her tactile senses.

With a dollop of luxury, and a modicum of fashion savvy, Mrs. Wynn trots the jet-set gangplank with understated elegance, individual style, and with a poise that is unmatched on the Vegas strip (and elsewhere).

Penelope Cruz
(exotic gem!)

Petite, pretty, and radiating youth and vitality, Ms. Cruz likewise steps into a fashion sensibility daily that sets her apart from other talents reaching for the brass ring.

An exotic gem with the world at her feet.(and a posse of men, no doubt)

J Lo
(the other half of a fated duo)

A flowering fashion icon with a flair for the feminine, a flourish for fabric and color, the dishy dame matures every day like a fine bottle of wine!

Kim Kardashian
(a flair for adventure in fashion)

High-spirited clothes horse that packs a wallop in the charm department. With an intuitive fashion sense under her wing, Kim pushes the limits not only in an adventurous way, but with the ultimate aim of avoiding faddish threads that might otherwise tarnish her polished image
