Ben Affleck...ambushed by Zsa Zsa's husband for photo op! Bennifer obliges!

One of the gossip tabloids flashed a publicity still of Ben Affleck and Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband across the old boob tube last evening which caused quite a hoot around the country.

In the candid shot a photographer captured Prince Von Anhalt beaming with his arm around Affleck.

In contrast, the actor's demanour was somewhat somber.

In fact, the expression on his face spoke volumes.

In his mind, he appeared to be crying-the-blues:

"I'd rather have 'em call me Bennifer, than be taking a photograph for posterior - um - posterity with this European joker!"

The inside scoop on the odd bedfellows?

Apparently, the film company has rented Zsa Zsa's estate for the setting of Affleck's latest flick.

My sources have been whispering that the "Prince" has been twisting arms to drum up a cameo role on the project.

Zsa Zsa Gabor...hospitalzied for pneumonia! Feisty screen siren is tough!

Screen legend - Zsa Zsa Gabor - was rushed to the hospital yesterday when her personal physician determined that the feisty star was stricken with a serious bout of pneumonia.

According to the latest update from one of Ms. Gabor's handlers, the ailing film star has been having trouble breathing because of fluid in her lungs.

Apparently, the prognosis for recovery is poor, as medical staff engage in an all-out effort to literally save the screen siren's life.

In recent months, Ms. Gabor suffered through major health problems, which resulted in at least one surgery and the amputation of one leg.

The actress - famous for being famous - is the second oldest of three Gabor sisters.

One sister - Eva Gabor - was well-known to American audiences for a role she played in a popular TV sitcom (Green Acres) and for being a close friend and confidante of legendary talk-show host Merv Griffin.

Although it alleged that Eva and Merv were lovers, later the truth was revealed that Griffin was actually gay, and that Ms. Gabor was basically a "beard".

I met Zsa Zsa - a Hungarian-born actress - briefly on the set of Naked Gun 2 1/2 a few years ago.

In that off-the-wall big-budget comedy feature, Gabor took a poke at herself in a small cameo role.

I found Ms. Gabor to be charming and gracious.

Gabor was once married to Conrad Hilton and the union produced one daughter.

The flamboyant actress received acclaim for a role she played many years ago in John Huston's film bio of Toulouse-Lautrec titled "Moulin Rouge".

Gabor also landed a part in Orson Welles' classic "Touch of Evil".

By the way, tomorrow is the anniversary of Orson Welles' birthday (May 6th).

Mine, too!

On the heels of the sad news, fans of Ms. Gabor are optimistic - no doubt - that she will once again pull through.

Get well soon, Zsa Zsa!

Zsa Zsa Gabor...daughter cries foul over fake Prince's treatment of ailing star!

Francesca in happier days!

For a while now, it's been common knowledge that Zsa Zsa Gabor's daughter - Francesca (sired by Conrad Hilton) - has been cast out (banned from visiting her mother at the upscale Bel Air Estate) ever since the aging sexpot was inclined to tie-the-knot with Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt (a fake European Royal).

In recent days, Francesca - a lesser-beauty who can't hold a candle to the other blond bombshells in family circles (a black sheep in the genes department, too, eh?) - has been crying foul to friends and business associates over Anhalt's alleged misconduct.

In particular, Zsa Zsa's lone child has been scandalized by the fact that the "Prince" may have neglected her mother - so much so - that his careless caretaker duties have negatively impacted Gabor's overall health and well-being.

For starters, Francesca has wondered aloud about the celebrated star's emergency visits to the hospital, among other things.

"Why was it necessary to have her leg amputated," she lamented far-and-wide to all within earshot in the aftermath.

Zsa Zsa's estranged daughter has also criticized von Anhalt for neglecting her mother's appearance on a handful of occasions he's allowed the usually-bed-ridden Superstar to saunter out-of-doors.

"My mother always wore make-up. And, her hair was always kept up," she spouted off angrily in so many words on a TV Tabloid news show this past week.

In recent weeks, pitiful publicity shots have depicted Zsa Zsa as a tired old woman, who appears to be on death's bed as a result.

Indeed!

How difficult is it to apply a dollop of lipstick or affix a well-coiffed wig to a once-pretty head?

Personally, I was quite disturbed when it was revealed that Zsa Zsa's husband allegedly gave the go-ahead for the actress's leg to be amputated, without securing her approval (or at least informing her) first.

For a former beauty - who took pride in her appearance - it must have been quite a blow to arrive home from the hospital sans a leg.

Of course, I am not familiar with all the pertinent details, so I can't pass judgment in the final analysis.

After all, if Ms. Gabor was unconscious - and a decision was needed in an emergency situation - then the action on the part of the Prince was understandable.

Don't 'ya think?

Especially, in the event he was granted the power of attorney!

But, the tongues are still wagging, nonetheless.

Recent plans to put the tony estate on the market must have set off warning bells in poor little Francesca's corner of the world I expect.

Will she be cut out of the will, too?

Zsa Zsa Gabor...Happy Birthday! Hospital bed to Bel Air estate!

Fans of legendary sex Goddess - Zsa Zsa Gabor - will be thrilled to hear that the aging celebrity has recovered from a lung infection and heading home from the hospital to her Bel Air estate to celebrate her birthday.

Ms. Gabor needs those healthy lungs if she intends to blow out the 94 candles on the top of what is expected to be a mouth-watering many-tiered fancy birthday cake.

The Hungarian-born actress appeared in more than 30 movies over the course of her long career - but it is remembered best for her stand-out performance in the classic flick - Moulin Rouge.

There were also campy stints on Batman - a TV hit - in the 60's.

Ms. Gabor was a perennial guest on the Merv Griffen show - often with her two dazzling sisters in tow (Eva & Magda) - which prompted many critics to snidely remark that the trio were simply famous for being famous.

That was many moons before Paris Hilton earned that reputation in recent years!

Judging by all the hits on the Internet today, Zsa Zsa is still a curiosity to the teaming masses around the globe.

Happy Birthday Zsa Zsa!

Zsa Zsa Gabor...News alert! Rushed to hospital! Prince & Show biz Queen saga!

Zsa Zsa & the fake Prince!

Hungarian beauty Zsa Zsa Gabor has been rushed to the hospital after her husband - Frederick Prinz von Anhalt - found the ailing actress unresponsive early this morning.

A spokesman for  the aling actress has confirmed that since her initial visit to the hospital a few weeks ago to mend a broken hip, Gabor has suffered a series of setbacks with her health which have left her disabled to date (and in need of medical care on a daily basis).

I reported on the matter earlier in recent weeks.

No further details about Ms. Gabor's immediate medical condition are currently available.

Expecting the worst, Ms. Gabor - still glam at 93 years of age - requested her last  rites from a priest during her brief stay at the hospital in July.

Doctors recommended surgery on her liver to extend her life (with a 50-50 chance of survival) - but the aging actress and the "Prince" - elected for her to return home to spend her final days in the comfort of her luxurious digs in Bel Air.

Frederick Prinz Von Anhalt was not born a "Prince" or blue blood, but came by the title when he married a elderly member of a European Family.

To many, the betrothal to Von Anhalt was Gabor's lofty stab at becoming "Royalty" by virtue of her union with the foreign born gentleman.

Like Barack Obama, questions about his birthright still hound him!

The Hungarian-born Gabor has appeared in more than 30 movies - a stand-out being - Moulin Rouge.

There were also campy stints on Batman - a TV hit - in the 60's.

Ms. Gabor was a perennial guest on the Merv Giffin show - often with her two dazzling sisters in tow (Eva & Magda) - which prompted many critics to snidely remark that the trio were simply famous for being famous.

What did they do, after all?

Mr. Griffen, known to be gay in show biz circles behind-the-scenes, often facilitated Eva Gabor as a beard to fool American TV viewers at the height of the popularity of his talk show, and at a time when homosexuality was not an acceptable lifestyle in mainstream U.S.A.

Gabor appeared to always be in healthy competition with Elizabeth Taylor, by the way.

Both sirens have trotted to the altar at least 9 times to tie the knot.

Ms. Gabor is well-known for her marriage to Conrad Hilton, while Ms. Taylor is famous for winning the heart of Welsh actor Richard Burton (they were married twice) during the filming of Cleopatra which caused an International scandal.

After all, Liz & Dick were both married to others.

But, that little hitch never stopped either Zsa Zsa or LA Liz from going after the man they pined for.

All is fair and love & war, eh?

Los Angeles...water shortage does have a silver lining! Cactus gardens, anyone?

I've always thought it was senseless to allow water sprinklers to spray quaint little city gardens willy-nilly throughout the mid-day.

In the words of Dr. Spock?

It's logical.

The colorless liquid humans often take for granted simply evaporates in seconds under the scorching afternoon sun.

A waste of precious resource?

You betcha.

Ah, and you thought you were actually quenching the thirst of mother nature's bounty all around with those automated sprinklers, while you were toiling away at a desk job downtown.

Don't say I told you so, but I told you so.

Now, the Los Angeles water-works department has been forced to turn to city ordinances to ration the water supply to head-off a shortage crisis - and ultimately - prevent a dry brown season ripe for forest fires from running rampant later down the road.

But, the scenario is of little consequence to society matrons in Bel Air, I expect.

Their exquisite manicured gardens will continue to be hand-spritzed with painstaking care (and without restriction) courtesy of Evian or some other high-falutin' bottled designer water.

In contrast, the humbled masses will have to simply abide by the restrictions, in effect now.

If you're still in the dark about the rules & regulations about plant nurturing and splurging - for goodness sake - take heed.

For starters, each neighborhood has been assigned a specific day or two in which to exercise a privilege to pamper - and ultimately - perk up their lawns, shrinking violets, whatever.

More importantly, residents have been issued a strict directive not to water outside city-designated "hours to sprinkle".

A failure to comply with the good-faith effort to conserve water may be hazardous to the pocketbook, too.

For example, offending parties face stiff penalties from the powers-that-be (a fine and severe tongue lashing).

If a nature-lover is inclined to sneak out in the middle of the night to coddle one or two of their best buds with a life-saving jolt of invigorating fresh water during a particularly dry spell, no foul.

Night-time watering is okie-dokie provided it's on a day the aqua Gods have given a ceremonious nod to from on high.

The last hurrah, before Arnold turns off the rusty faucets altogether.

In that event, residents may have turn to novel garden adventures.

Cactus flower, anyone?

Meanwhile, there is a silver lining - for the likes of moi - at least.

Now, when I zip into an open parking space at curbside on a sun-drenched side street on a lazy afternoon, I won't have to worry that my freshly-detailed roadster (@ a whopping cost of $45 a pop) will be rudely spat upon by a host of obnoxious sprinklers out of whack.

Now, if only we can get the city fathers to take a gander at those useless "blowers".

Scattering a batch of crusty old brown leaves from one end of a sidewalk to another - and back again - is pretty much a useless proposition (unless a gardener gets paid by the hour, of course).

Maybe I'll start a petition to ban 'em - or at a minimum - force owners to install a muffler to reduce the noise pollution.

One small step forward for mankind!

Nasty work, but someone has got to do it.

Life marches on in tony Bel Air
