Arnold Schwarzenegger...$65,000.00 down payment on Maid's tony digs! Skirt chaser payola!

At the crack-of-dawn this morning, news wires started reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger made a $65,000.00 down payment on the luxury home currently inhabited by his love-child's mother known to her close friends as "Pat".

According to news reports, an initial $60,000.00 was paid upfront on the home valued at $268,000.00.

Just a few months ago, the former Governor coughed up an additional $5,000.00 towards the purchase of the four bedroom home situated in a residential enclave just outside of Los Angeles.

Curiously, one news outlet dredged up an old Television clip of the former bodybuilder, when he appeared in his prime as a contestant on The Dating Game.

One of his quips to the bachelorette has clearly come back to haunt him.

For example, at one point during the course of the show, Schwarzenegger innocently asked a contestant on the other side of the screen:

"What does this expression - Hanky-Panky - mean?"

It means that when you get caught with your dick in the wringer, 'ya pay up, Arnold!

Proposition 8...U.S. Judge "stays" ban on Gay Marriage 'til August 18th!

The ruling by a Federal Judge to overturn a ban on same-sex marriage appears to be flip-flopping a tad since the controversial ruling was handed down last week in the picturesque City by the Bay.

Although, U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker effectively overturned the Prop 8 ballot initiaive - in his opinion on the complex Constitutional issues - his Honor stopped short of leaving the supporterss of the ban on gay marriages in a legal lurch.

In what appears to be a fair approach to oproblems that have surfaced in respect to appeals - in the aftermath of his controversial findings - Judge Walker has "stayed" (put on hold) his standing order until the 18th of August.

No new gay marriages may be granted by City Hall (18,000 California residents are currently legally married in the Golden State) until that date.

The intriguing "stay" arose when it was determined that sponsors of Prop 8 (who lost their bid to have the initiative upheld) do not have legal standing to lodge an appeal with the 9th Circuist Court of Appeals (based in San Francisco).

Walker conjectured that the sponsors may be barred from appealing the order because they were not directly affected by its findings.

Walker said there was no evidence that the sponsors of Prop. 8 "face the kind of injury" required to have standing to file an appeal.

"As it appears at least doubtful that proponents will be able to proceed with their appeal without a state defendant, it remains unclear whether the Court of Appeals will be able to reach the merits of proponents' appeal," Walker wrote.

With that argument in mind, the Judge issued a "stay" until nex week, with a court directive that proponents attempt to convince either the Governor or the Attorney General to file an appeal to ensure jurisdiction.

Howevr, that may be a difficult task to undertake, since both Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Atty. General Jerry Brown urged Walker to permit same-sex marriages to resume after noting the state was well equipped to handle to gay marriage.

Prop 8 drafters did not publicly respond to Walker's contention that they may not having standing to appeal.

In spite of the foregoing efforts of the Judge to be balanced and fair, Prop 8 supporters waved protest signs outside the U.S. Federal Court on the eve of of the trial's official end, alleging "Judicial Tyranny".

Walker based his ruling on the grounds that Proposition 8 violated Federal Constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process.

Moral disapproval was not a good enough reason to deny gays what courts have determined is a fundamental right to marry, he noted matter-of-fact in he public record.

Schwarzenegger...have 'ya got the ba**s?

News flashes in recent days have tended to focus on a surprising subject.

Ba**s.

Ah, the male anatomy!

For example, in my report on Chastity Bono's decision to pursue a sex-change operation, I applauded her for having the ba**s to go through with it.

Then, the following day, Schwarzenegger rustled up some controversial headlines when he special-delivered a bust (?) of a set of testicles to a political opponent in Sacramento, which included a hand-written note which teasingly taunted:

"You'll need these."

Without so much as a grunt, the gift was volleyed back into the Governor's court, thank you very much.

Understandably - the Lakers' b**s have not only been scrutinized up-close and personal on the court(and off) this season - but analyzed left, right, and center also.

Go figure!

I can't help but wonder where the spotlight will fall tomorrow.

Especially if it turns out to be a slow news day.

Haiku and the art of Zen Twittering anyone?

West Hollywood...vehicles get the boot! Sign of the times?

I was dashing around - and fussing about with chores - when I suddenly spied a nasty archaic-looking thing-a-ma-jig (in brilliant orange) on the front left wheel of a dozen or so upscale cars parked around the neighborhood.

Gotcha!

The mighty "boot" struck stealthfully under the cover of darkness last night!

The unprecedented sweep was obviously a coup for the city.

Notwithstanding, the merciless night raid signalled two things to me.

One, the city is desperate to secure an influx of cash for the public coffers.

Two, motorists hit by the recent economic crunch, are having difficulty coughing up their parking fees.

Can't they proffer an I.O.U.?

Just asking!

"Running into debt isn't so bad. It's running into creditors that hurts."

Governor Schwarzenegger...vetoes AB 2279. Patient rights jeopardized by misstep!!!

Don't Bogart that joint, Arnold!

According to patient rights advocates, Governor Schwarzenegger’s veto of AB 2279 - a bill to protect job rights for California’s medical cannabis patients- is a setback for fairness and non-discrimination.

However, Americans for Safe Access (backers of AB 2279) have vowed to continue to go on and fight the battle in the courts, if necessary.

AB 2279 would have stopped workplace discrimination against hundreds of thousands of patients who are legally-entitled by California State Law to use Medical Marijuana.

AB 2279 was proposed as a solution for a "right to work" which was compromised by a California Supreme Court ruling earlier this year.

The Governor’s veto means that California employers can fire workers who use marijuana for medicinal purposes - which is permitted under State law – even if the individual uses medical cannabis in the privacy of their own home.

According to Don Duncan, a representative at ASA, the Governor has misstepped.

"The veto represents a failure of common sense for California’s embattled Governor."

ASA has been heartened by the number of people who helped fight for patients’ rights during the campaign for AB 2279.

Staffers have noted the battle isn't over yet.

"It is important that Governor Schwarzenegger and his staff understand that Californians strongly disagree with this decision. This is not the last time the Governor will be asked to sign legislation to protect patients’ rights."

Consequently, ASA is asking supporters to call Governor Schwarzenegger office in Sacramento and inform him they are not in accord with his decision.

Governor's Office: (916) 445-2841

In the alternative, ASA staff are requesting that California residents write to the Governor personally, and urge that he reconsider his position.

ASA has drafted the following letter as a guideline for supporters to follow.

"I am a medical cannabis patient/supporter who is very disappointed in your decision to veto AB 2279, a bill that would have stopped workplace discrimination against legal medical cannabis patients. This veto leaves hundreds of thousands of law abiding Californians in jeopardy. I expect the Governor to work with lawmakers to protect legal medical cannabis patients from discrimination next year."

An Edmund Burke quote is applicable here.

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little."

Governor Schwarzenegger...bans text messaging while driving! If you're coming to California...

Nab him, will 'ya!

Well, we're pretty much use to Governor Schwarzenegger's preaching and inclination to spoil all the fun, but if you're from out-of-state (or residing abroad) you are hereby duly informed that the Gov has terminated text messaging while cruising the mean streets of the sunshine State.

On the heels of the legislation signed into law this past week, a first offense will rack up a fine of twenty bucks!

For those who are totally addicted, and find it tough to go cold turkey, additional offenses will ding 'ya fifty bucks each infraction.

Governor Schwarzenegger's new motto for the measure should be:

"Reach out and slap someone"

In a press release, the Governator noted he was ecstatic about signing the bill.

"Banning electronic text messaging while driving will keep driver's hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road , making our roadways a safer place for all Californians."

In view of all the hanky-panky that goes on in my neighborhood in the wee hours of dawn, I doubt that very much.

Maybe they should have a ban on open flies during the hours of midnight and 6 a.m.

Sticky fingers - pose problems of all persuasions - after all!

Well, text messaging is a good start!
