Starbucks...Seattle outlets flogging booze! Burger King Fast-food cocktails to go!

The reining java King has sauntered into the alcoholic beverage market!

According to recent news reports, four of Starbucks trendy cafes in Seattle are  now serving up beer and wine to take the edge off the day.

Of course - there will always be an ample supply of tongue-twisting coffee specials to jump-start the day at the crack-of-dawn - too (as usual).

Word out of Florida is that two Sonic restaurants have followed the lead of Burger King after the fast-food giant introduced "Whopper Bars" in Miami, Las Vegas, and Kansas City.

Flogging thirst-quenching ales and soothing sips of cool quality wines may boost sales, but as far as the critics are concerned, the combination of fast-food and mood-elevating beverages at the drive-thru may lead to a slippery road to hell.

I worry more about my pocketbook.

Beers are being sold at Starbucks for $5.00 a bottle while wine soars in price at a pricey $9.00 a glass.

Personally, I'd rather pick up a six-pack at the local grocery and save a fortune (and my life) in the process on the way home where I'm about to become a couch potato for the night!

Amen!

Morphine...OMG! Don't mix with alcohol! Deadly potential...

Morphine potentially dangerous when mixed with alcohol!

In spite of all the sensational hoopla that tends to swirl around a celebrity when they get busted for a DUI - in tandem with a dose of prescription drugs - let's say - simple facts about the potential side effects of the interaction of the two are often left cloaked in intrigue and mystery.

Sometimes the end result may be a tragedy or two.

For example, even I invited a close-call the other night, when I threw caution to the oasis winds and headed out for a cocktail after it slipped my mind that a nurse gave me an injection of morphine just prior to my discharge at Sunrise Medical facility just earlier.

Suddenly, out-of-the-blue - as I delighted in a little action at the slot machines - blood rushed to my face as wobbly sailor's legs also gave the visual impression that I was slightly bombed to all of the other Casino guests in attendance at the midnight hour at the tony Hilton.

And, it was tough-going the following morning - when I found myself in a bit of a lingering stupor and struggling to haul ass out of my comfy bed - as I attempted to  locate an in-depth pamphlet on the subject of  drugs and their potential side effects.

OMG!

According to the manufacturers - inadvertently mixing morphine and alcohol was not only unwise - but potentially life-threatening.

No wonder I was nearly knocked on my a** unexpectedly as the romantic evening unfolded.

Needless to say, I expect to be more careful in the future when out for a night on the town.

David Hasselhoff...what's hoff? Star unravels on radio talk show!

At about six o'clock in the morning last week, I was flipping through the airwaves on the radio in my SUV, when I stumbled on an interview with former Y & R Soap Stud, David Hasselhoff.

The sloppy overweight hunk is either a very convincing actor - or, just maybe - he was stinko drunk!

The disc jockey dialed up Hasselhoff to get an inside scoop on the on-going screwball dialogue which the second tier celebrity has jokingly been perpetuating on network shows in recent days.

Yeah, whenever David engages in any conversation, he is inclined to tag on "Hoff" in the most inane or bizarre places.

Sometimes, with hilarious results.

On other occasions, not.

When he plucked up his telephone, the first one he rasped on air, hit the funny bone.

"What's Hoff?"

If you can't translate "Hoffese" - it basically means - "What's up?"

But, the joke pretty much rolled downhill from there onto the floor where the hoff-meister was obviously sprawled out in a hoff-daze.

Can't imagine why the disc jockeys devoted so much of their precious hoff-time to that convoluted mass of hoff-the-wall jelly flesh.

After all, it was evident from the get-go, that the faded star had hoffed-down a couple of bottles of hard liquor the night before.

Judging by his slurred words, mixed up hoff processes, and oddball antics anyway!

Where is he taking all of this?

To rehab, no doubt!

I switched to another channel in a "Hoff".

I "Hoff" to get it just right...
