God's mysterious ways...the gift of healing! Grace Cathedral in San Francisco!

Healing Hands!

Once again, God's mysterious ways have astounded me!

For instance, the night before last, I stumbled across a book on "Healing" (by chance?) based on the teachings of an Eastern Master which ring just as true today as when they were first published a half-a-century ago by a San Francisco publishing house!

In fact, as I read the spiritual passages therein - I was immediately struck by the fact that the ideas set forth by the authentic Guru - were along-the-lines of a handful of philosophical musings gleaned from the yearnings of my own blessed heart over the past decade or two.

In particular, I found the theories - that articulated on the principles behind "healing", "purification", and "magnetism" - resonated with truth to the very core of my being!

Needless to say, I was not at all surprised when I ran smack-dab into a mystical experience bright-and-early the next morning - and a brush with the Lord - as I trekked up California Street into the tony environs of Nob Hill.

Indeed!

Shortly after I strolled into GRACE CATHEDRAL (one of my favorite Churches in the Bay area), I was suddenly bathed in pool of rainbow colors by virtue of a stream of light shining through a stained-glass window from on high above me.

On the heels of the cleansing awakening, the Church bells suddenly rang out!

"For whom do the bells toll?" I wondered to myself.

At this juncture, it came to my attention that a service was about to commence in a small Chapel at the front of the spectacular Cathedral.

I quickly ushered myself into a seat just as the Priest began to utter up the first words of the scriptures to the solemn parishioners humbly gathered there.

Lo & Behold!

Subject matter in the stray book on "Healing" (which I came across the evening before) was the focus of her Sermon at Grace!

In fact, at one point - the Priest asked if anyone recalled a little tune with lyrics that went something like - "this little light of mine".

Within a few precious seconds, I found myself singing out.

"This little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine!"

In response, the Priest nodded her joyous approval from the podium up front!

In a round-about-way, my ambition to sing in the Church was fulfilled at long last.

Offers for this tenor to sing for his supper in the future are graciously accepted!

After the service, a man spied the book on healing in my hand, and trotted up to quiz me.

"What is that you are reading there?"

Suddenly, I found myself giving a brief dissertation on the power of "healing".

"Did you know that if you open up your heart, you can heal the world?" I found myself blurting out.

It hit me like a thunderbolt.

God was bestowing upon me the gift of healing!

Amen!

The Awakening...prose by Julian Ayrs!

What fog is this
Slowly lifting
That cast mystical spell
O’er beams of light
that
Awaken?

On Orchid petal
Softly flutter
Though,
 rolling thunder
still beckons

The earth
Spills forth all its bounty
As fleet of foot
humbly bow
to Nature’s awesome
majesty

Princess Diana...psychic's contact hoghwash! Kenny Kingston exploits dead celebs!

Princess of Wales not amused by Kingston claims!

A local news outlet - of dubious repute - has reported that Princess Diana contacted a psychic from beyond the grave proclaiming  that her death was a well-planned accident.

Hollywood psychic Kenny Kingston alleges that he contacted the Duchess of Windsor, a former client when she was alive, during a séance at his Los Angeles home last week.

Kingston bases his ability to "contact" Lady Di on the grounds that the Duchess once introduced him to Princess Diana.

Hogwash!

Kenny Kingston, self-proclaimed psychic to the stars, has exploited Marilyn Monroe's death in the past - and now - appears to be attempting to do the same with the former Princess of Wales.

For example, in an interview with WENN News a few days ago, Mr. Kingston uttered up wild claims about a seance he conducted - in which he alleges - the spirit of Lady Di  made her spiriitual presence  known.

"The Duchess of Windsor originally greeted Diana on the other side because she felt a kinship to her, as both had been stripped of their royal titles. The Duchess looked immaculate in a white gown and she soon brought in Diana, looking radiant in a royal blue gown."

The shameful conduct persisted when he proceeded to offer up thoughts on the two young Princes.

"Diana told me she continues to watch over her 'boys,' as she still refers to them. She thinks Prince William will be the next monarch, with or without a wife and she is very proud of Prince Harry and the training he's received and feels there are great plans for him."

"Diana has come to the conclusion that the tragedy in the Alma Tunnel was no mistake," Kingston chirped without blinking-an-eye.

'It may have been an accident, but it was a well-planned one," the shady medium continued.

"This is contrary to what Diana's spirit had conveyed to me during a previous séance many years ago. It has taken her this period of time, she says, to gain her strength and to be able to see the truth."

Kingston swears that one of his eerie predictions - published  in a British newspaper - put her on alert during her final weeks on the face of the earth.

"Diana told me that when she told her butler, Paul Burrell, that she feared for her safety and sensed a danger period around a car, she was referring to my aura reading, which I revealed in the Daily Star newspaper. The aura reading had warned her of a danger period from July to November around fast-moving cars, and Diana took it to heart."

A lot of good it did, right?

The truth of the matter is that Mr. Kingston is not an authentic psychic.  In fact, he is a charlatan.

Years ago, I attended one of his sessions in Los Angeles, and found out first hand.

For example  - at one point during the session - Mr. Kingston approached me in the audience and asked that I hand over a set of my keys.

At this juncture, he informed the audience in no uncertain terms, that I was in the real-estate business.

Wrong!

I have always been involved in the fine arts -  and have never ventured into the arena he referred to as my line of employ - in any capacity.

Likewise, Mr. Kingston stumbled through conversations with other guests present, generally offering up predictions that were about ninety-percent "incorrect" for the most part.

In the final analysis, Mr. Kingston has all the psychic pereceptions of a cold dead fish, in my estimation.

The nerve of some classless demented folks out to make a buck!

Quack psychic a charlatan!

Swine Flu...brings out the worst in people!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been so busy with film festivals and red carpet events, that I haven't had much opportunity to follow the swine flu epidemic (?) causing fear and anxiety around the country in recent days.

But, the issue reared its ugly head yesterday afternoon, and subsequently, prompted me to pause and reflect on the subject.

I was standing in line at the cashier (at my favorite discount store!) when I felt a little tingle in my throat coming on, so I quickly turned my head away from the other customers pressed up on either side of me, snatched the neckline of my T-shirt up as quickly as possible, then coughed into the fabric well out-of-harm's way.

Immediately, a middle-aged male shopper slightly ahead of me turned - and angrily tossed a mean-spirited retort - in my direction.

"You should cover your mouth when you cough."

Normally, when I cross paths with people throughout the course of the day, I endeavour to be as civil as possible, but the reaction from this lame bozo warranted a short sweet reprimand from the get-go.

"Sir, your back was turned towards me, so how would you know whether I covered my mouth or not? The truth of the matter is that I did."

Then, early this morning at a fast-food take-out, I witnessed another incident in which a patron was ostracized by virtue of the selfish insensitive conduct of a uppity classless woman who was also quick to rush to "judgment".

Just as the morning commuter was about to cough, he buried his mouth behind a napkin to suppress the untimely outburst as much as possible without offending (or upsetting, I gather) other guests in the establishment.

The woman (firmly ensconced at the table in front of him with her back to his little perch) half-turned in her seat, glared at the embarrassed man, then proceeded to issue an almost hysterical directive to her friend to get up and move to a table on the other side of the popular eatery to get as far away as possible from the offending individual.

What revolting conduct!

I was always taught that when an individual was down-on-their-luck - or physically ill - a little compassion was in order

Or, in the alternative, a bit of empathy.

Am I to assume by her reprehensible conduct that she's never been "under the weather" - or even experienced a sniffle or cough - in her entire life?

I suppose her sh** doesn't smell either?

When a crisis or epidemic breaks out in the community - shouldn't the citizenry make a concerted effort to tackle the potential threat with kid gloves - instead of pointing nasty accusing fingers?

The Dalai Lama once opined:

"Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibililty of real peace."

Dallas AFI...Morenita a cautionary tale about corruption, drug-running & the sacred image of the Virgin Mary!

Alan Jonsson Gavica

Morenita is a small film in some respects (not grand or sweeping at all) but, in the framework chosen by skilled director Alan Jonsson Gavica, resonates with a certain truth.

In a nutshell, the foreign film is about a Mexican laborer down-on-his luck, who agrees to act as a runner for a drug dealer (his brother) to make ends meet.

When the nefarious activities go awry, the desperate young man - soon-to-be a father - uses a contact to commit an unthinkable crime.

What follows is a Nation's grieving and a no holds-barred struggle between good and evil to restore the nature order of things.

Mr. Gavica is an engaging man who flew in from Mexico to participate in a Q & A at the premiere of his action/adventure piece at AFI Dallas the end of last week.

As we chatted each other up on the shuttle bus to the venue in the West Village (the Magnolia Theatre) where the low-budget independent was being unveiled, it was evident that the articulate auteur was quite knowledgeable about the art of filmmaking.

He confessed that on occasion, in order to get the footage he needed, it was necessary to tell a "white lie" or two.

For example, the image of the Virgin Mary at the Basilica, was an integral part of the plot line for "Morenita".

However, the priests at the Holy site rarely ever permitted filmmakers - even tourists - to photograph the revered image of the Virgin Mary.

So, Mr. Gavica and his producer quickly conjured up a tall tale, to appease the powers-that-be.

"We're shooting a documentary on the Virgin Mary and the Catholic Faith," he earnestly asserted to Church Officials.

On this false premise, Gavica was able to gain access to a location needed to wrap the project.

Would he burn in hell for pulling the fast one?

"They'll probably find out," he grinned sheepishly.

"You betcha! 'Cause I'm going to report it in my post on the film," I laughed maniacally.

In the final analysis, though, Gravica doubted they'd denounce him or "Morenita" publicly.

"They don't want to give us the publicity."

As to the film itself - personally - I found Gravica's occasional "light touch" at the helm refreshing.

For instance, subtle flourishes here and there resonated strongly with my artistic sensibilities on occasion, when least expected.

And, likewise, I was jolted emotionally when Gavica switched into high gear and splattered the screen with gritty realism essential to plot twists that happened along unexpectedly about half-way through.

A main story line which focused on police corruption in Mexico also rang true in view of recent news reports filtering out of that troubled nation in recent days about the widespread graft.

While not Oscar material, "Morenita" is entertaining bill-of-fare offered up in Spanish with English sub-titles.

Although Morenita will definitely cash in below the border, film buffs may find the feature worth taking a gander at, too, on U.S. soil.

Instrument of God...quote!

For those of you who cower at the thought of incurring God's wrath
Take solace in the fact that on occasion
The Lord may be inclined to call upon any one of us
to be an instrument of his will

Church of Blessed Sacrament...spiritually blind!

In the past few months I have felt a calling to reach out and find a way to give back to the community in some active capacity.

One Sunday morning, I awoke from a deep sleep, and a nagging little voice inside of me prompted me to take in Mass at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood.

Lo and Behold, as I crouched in the pew, the Priest noted the need for Deacons in the Church and asked that the Lord hear the prayer for one to appear.

I felt like the message was directed right at me!

Alas, after I penned a letter to the Priest - noting my interest - no one at the Blessed Sacrament even bothered to give me the courtesy of a reply.

Some Christians!

The Priests at the Blessed Sacrament are so blind spiritually, they are incapable of recognizing that the Lord answered their prayer.

Will he respond to the next one?

The incident confirms my belief that the spirit of God is not alighting in the empty houses of worship around the Nation - but rather - in the hearts and minds of the humble masses without need for ritual, pomp, or circumstance.

Amen!
