Auspicious Numbers...death, change, and transformation! For moi...
Today, an auspicious turn of events signaled that the next week should prove to be a intriguing one, chock full of surprises,
When I checked in to my Hotel, for instance, I was assigned suite No. 19.
For those of you who grappled with the date when the calendar switched over to a fresh month (September), the numbers nine (9) and one (1) probably stood out like sore thumbs.
Since I have studied numerology, and am familiar with the meaning a whole slew of numbers, it was a red letter day (so-to-speak).
Especially, when the Hotel room number (19) is taken into consideration.
On September (9th month) 1st (the first day of the 9th month) I rented a suite at - No. 19 - which is a combination of the two numbers in the actual date (1 & 9).
OMG!
The significance of it all did not escape my intuitive little mind.
No. 9 is a highly-spiritual “master” number which represents “transformation, change, and death."
There must have been a reason why John Lennon was intrigued by the number and sang its praises.
No. 1 - on the other hand - symbolizes new starts & beginnings in the spiritual scheme of things.
A coincidence?
I think not.
Essentially, the message rang out to me crystal clear.
A part of my existence is ending in a symbolic "death", for starters.
And, over the next week, I'll be laying a new foundation for a next decade or so - that ultimately - will result in a major transformation in my personal life, career, and spiritual affairs.
God Willing!
Now, if only that prediction in my fortune cookie would come true.
Who me, superstitious?

Mystic...fortune-teller's forecast right on! Fog is lifted...
One day I was window-shopping on the 3rd Street promenade when I noticed a mystic offering up psychic forecasts to passers-by.
He was easy to spot; after all, his broad smile, wide shoulders, magnetic personality jumped right out among the multitudes drifting down the open-air marketplace.
Right away I knew he was authentic.
How?
Instead of propping up a make-shift sign with a fee etched on its face, he was inclined to accept donations only.
For those of you familiar with past posts, you probably remember the one I penned about my own psychic abilities and my involvement in the arcane arts many few moons ago!
Prophecy
A Gift from God

Because of my background in this area, I was able to discern from his approach - and the reading in general - that he knew his stuff (so-to-speak).
Of course, if you have ever had a reading, you know that sometimes a prediction can seem a little bizarre or beyond the realm of comprehension on the occasion it is uttered up.
But, remember, anything (and everything) is possible under the sun!
True to form, a couple of predictions threw me for a loop that day, although I was capable of holding judging in view of my own personal and professional experiences over the years.
For instance, when he noted there would be quite a few cowboys around me in the near future, I smiled.
There haven't been any men - of any stripe or persuasion - in the picture for months!
Frankly, I haven't been in the mood (or right state of mind) to entertain any romantic notions.
But, sure enough, two days later when I drove into Las Vegas, I suddenly found myself smack dab in the midst of a posse of Cowboys because (unbeknowst to moi beforehand) the Rodeo had gallopped into town.
Subsequently, I ended up penning a post about that event, bolstered up with images of virile cattle men.
Surprisingly, about the same time, the Gene Autry Museum invited me to a special discussion on two celebrated western-style shirts (featured in Brokeback Mountain) on exhibit there.
So, of course, I penned an article on that landmark event.
I laughed when he noted I was in a creative field of work and that I affected quite a few lives as a result.
Indeed - a good or bad review of a film, tv show, or red carpet event - has the capacity to do just that!
When he drifted on to planetary aspects, he was quite knowledgeable about the influence of the midheavens, too.
He pointed out that Pluto was in my chart quite prominently over the past couple of years (a negative influence) which caused some difficulties in my life.
Of course, I knew this cosmic pull to be true, because years ago I had an in-depth horoscope prepared which indicated that Pluto factored into my destiny from time to time.
However, he noted that the probematic vibration was coming to an end, as the 9th planet moved out of my chart.
True!
I confess that over the past year or so my health has been the worst it's ever been in my entire life.
Over the past few months, for instance, I have been hustled in and out of the hospital about a dozen times or so, in fact.
During that time frame, there were a dizzying number of tests and physical exams to undergo.
And, a raft of medicines and painkillers to quell the pain and discomfort, too.
Regular readers may recall posts in which I got the dates mixed up (some of that was attributed to computer glitches, I swear), misspelled names, or wasn't as coherent in my reporting as I normally tended to be (for good reason, if the truth be known).
Yes, sometimes it was the painkillers (and/or prescription drugs) that were responsible for the fog that enveloped (and hindered) me.
On occasion, I'd return to my car, totally exhausted on the heels of performing a few chores.
Before I could turn the key in the ignition - on occasion, I simply passed out - overwhelmed with drowsiness and incapable of prying my eyes wide open to get through the tail end of the day.
Consequently, the uncontrollable struggles, may have caused a tongue or two to wag after passers-by happened across me in the neighborhood asleep at the wheel.
Uh-huh!
The locals probably thought I was a bit tipsy or high on drugs, eh?
Of course, then there was the issue of my sleeping disorder diagnosed this past year.
Rather than fall asleep at the wheel (like I did one day on Highway 15 on a trip back from Las Vegas) I oftentimes elected to just curl up in the back seat of my vehicle until the exhaustion passes over (and I could - at long last - drive home safely).
I tried the "stimulants" my doctor prescribed as an alternative, but was forced to stop, when I found myself stuttering, grinding my teeth, and staring blankly into space whenever I stopped into a cafe for a tea or coffee.
The heck with that!
But, then, in January - as predicted - Pluto started to shift.
Suddenly, in San francisco one day, I felt like I was coming out of a fog and able to function at full steam once again.
In retrospect, I am thankful I had my blog to focus on, because it was all that kept me going in a very dark period during the past twelve months or so.
Now, thank God, I am starting to make plans and set goals and get enthusiastic about life again.
In a sense, I feel reborn, for some inexplicable reason.
Amen!

Chinese New Year...the Goddess Chang E smiles on me!
In need of a breath of fresh air, I stepped outside late last night - gazed up at the big dipper stretched across the pristine heavens winking at me from above - and proceeded to stroll down the picturesque side street without a care in the world.
Suddenly, a small rabbit - with a fur coat dappled with brown and white patches - hopped and skipped across a lawn and made a bee-line for me.
I slowed to a halt - without any jerky or unexpected body movements - anxious not to frighten the adorable little creature away.
Surely, he was not aware of my presence there in the dark in the shadows of a large shade tree?
Surrisingly, that was not the case in the least.
When I stooped over and outstretched my hand, the little darling hopped right up and sniffed one finger.
For one second, he let me pet him on the nose, ever-so-gently also.
I was mesmerized and caught up in the magical moment.
Meanwhile, the rabbit - who darted about here and there with a noticeable bounce in his hop - stopped sporatically to graze on a bit of foliage now and then.
Then, he was back at my side nudging up close for a moment or two before contentedly going off to explore the terrain once again.
Imagine how surprised I was - when I headed down the street - and the lovable little creature proceeded to stray just behind me.
I'd stroll a few steps, then he would come up from behind - nibble at the grass a bit - then glance in my direction.
Gosh, I kept saying to myself, I wish I had a carrot or something to give him
If you can believe it, this magical little scenario continued all the way down the block!
At the corner, he finally held back, so I expect he was instinctively aware that he should remain within the safe perimeters of his home.
Where might that be?
Just ask Alice.
Fortunately he had the keen sense to remain behind.
Afer all, I was afraid he might get lost if he followed me too far astray.
Coincidentally, just the other night, I penned a post on the Chinese New Year in which I mentioned an age-old myth handed down throughout the ages from one generation to the next.

According to the legend, a Goddess by the name of Chang E was preparing to travel to the moon.
Not wanting to go alone, she took along a pet rabbit.
Allegedly, on the Festival of Lanterns (on the 15th day of New Year celebrations) anyone with a pure heart will see her image (and that of the rabbit) in the moon.
Gosh, only three days into the celebrations, and I am making friends out-of-blue with rabbits in the dead-of-night!
What will unfold next?
Stay tuned for updates.

Gary Busey...fu**ed up misquote!

VHI reporters were a little taken aback when a rough-'n-tumble actor Gary Busey - looking for all-the-world like he was stoned out of his ever-living gourd - waxed philosophically on the subject of changes as he trotted by on a mad (the key word here!) dash to a gig.
"All that changes is changes," the wild-eyed thespian spat out to a giggling reporter (and startled camera-crew in tow) as he sped by.
Say what?
The media hounds couldn't make hide-or-tail of the little nugget of wisdom.
No wonder!
"Busey, you freak," I screamed, as I tossed a flip-flop at the boob-tube in exasperation.
The flaky actor screwed it up!
I short poem I penned a few years back said it best.
"The only thing constant in life is change."
Got it, bonehead?
Not a bad observation about the natural order of things in the Universe, even if I do say so myself!

I Ching...influences for the day!
Occasionally, I toss the I CHING to determine what the influences will be during the course of the day ahead.
Today, I cast KWEN.
The Hexagram represents contemplation.
The Earth below
The Wind above
According to my reference book, a small tonal change in the Chinese gives the word KWEN a double meaning, which translates to contemplating and exhibiting.
Therefore, the hexagram refers to both the contemplator and contemplation.
All that is not one is the other.
The shape of the character resembles a Tower - one familiar in ancient China - which is situated on a mountain. In view of this, the image signifies a watchtower (beacon of light) to those above and a landmark to those below.
The shape of the Tower represents the gate of the eternal present which rests in balance between the future and the past (between the contemplator and the contemplated).
As a consequence, the wise man surveys his past for meaningful relevant experience.
The essence of the message is that the individual live fully in the present - with a mind to keeping the illusions of the past and the future - in proper perspective.
Accordingly, it is important for the seeker to remain open to changes.
And, to be able to move freely, without being blocked by the concept of time.
The individual tossing this hexagram represents the wind blowing freely above the Earth.
Although travel is forecast - in a physical or mental sense - the passage stresses that it is not based on a quest or need to run.
There is an opportunity to flutter from experience to experience - without clinging to static precedents, being blocked by unfounded fears, or limited by thought processes - that would otherwise bog an individual down.
The I Ching is one of the classical (ching) Chinese books dating back to Fu Hsi and the Yin dynasty. (2900 BCE)
I Ching means "Book of Changes" in English.
The two branches of Chinese philosophy - Confucianism and Taoism - have common roots in the I Ching.
Emperor Ch'in Shih-huang-ti ordered an arson of books in 213 AD, but the I Ching was fortunate to survive the purge.
The word "book" should be taken in the sense of a "Holy Book" such as it is in the Western cultures.
The sacred book was mainly used for divination - a tool to not only predict future events - but to determine how to "harmonize" with the impending forces surrounding them.
The "Book of Wisdom" is a collection of 64 short essays assigned to 64 figures.
Each character is comprised of six continuous and/or broken lines that require interpretation.
The figures are called hexagrams.
Each hexagram corresponds to a specific life situation.
At the time the coins are tossed, the querent (seeker) divines the forces at work around the circumstances, so that he or she may be guided to take appropriate action that is in harmony with the underlying energies at play.
The I Ching was thoroughly studied and translated into the German language by celebrated author - Richard Wilhelm - who was a Protestant missionary to China.
Carl Jung - who put a lot of stock in the profound influences of synchronicity - wrote the forward for the version which is the most known and appreciated by scholars and laymen alike.
In essence, the I Ching is a gauge on the environment and impending social change.
And, by virtue of the passages divined, it is wholly possible for the serious seeker to chart a path that is in sync with the forces at work rather than in conflict with them.
The I Ching is also capable of revealing the remarkable inter-connectedness of "things" - so that the individual may come to fully recognize that in nature - nothing under the sun and the moon and the stars "happens by chance".
In fact - because of an ongoing "ripple effect" in the Universe - events that appear to be "random or accidental" are not.
Ultimately, the book of changes reflects a sophisticated understanding of environmental and human cycles.
By definition, cycles have a predictable pattern.
Part of the greatness of the "Book of Changes" is that it takes into account how cycles themselves can be influenced and modified to achieve success in one's personal and professional life.
Skilled use of the texts can not only shed light on potential choices - but warn of changes and other interventions - that may alter the course of events in a negative way.
In the final analysis - it's imperative that sentient beings not only be mindful of the forces of nature at work - but strive to be in harmony with them to engender positive changes in one's life.
I Ching quote,
"It is only when we have the courage to face things exactly as they are, without any self-deception or illusion, that a light will develop out of events, by which the path to success may be recognized.
