Dallas...night-time pot-boiler returns! Was it all a dream?

Looking to stir up a bit of "soap" magic from the dust of yesteryear when cliff-hanging weekly series were all the rage (producer Aaron Spelling the master of 'em) TNT has announced their intention to resurrect the long-running hit "Dallas".

In its new incarnation, the "Dallas" saga (which previously focused on the oil business and two dueling brothers in the modern west) is slated to pick-up (more-or-less) where the crusty old storyline once left off.

Was the finale all a dream?

It's my guess!

Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy - both very long-in-the-tooth (and just-about retired in the saddle, too) have signed on (along with ever-popular Linda Gray) to play out the rough-and-tumble hi-jinks expected to unfold once again on the old boob tube the second time around.

There will be new cast members, too - namely - Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julia Gonzao, and Brenda Strong.

Although I am unfamiliar the actors who've been hired to play the conniving upstarts in the topsy-turvy world of the oil industry,  I'll be tuning to determine for myself if there is any flesh left on the old bag of bones worth feasting on.

Later!

John Travolta...indiscreet gay flirting! Kelly Preston ignores snub at trendy diner!

John led around by end of his co**!

According to a gossip-monger at one of the Gay Tabloid Rags, John Travolta's hunger for the sexy companionship of handsome young studs has escalated to the point where he's become shockingly indiscreet in front of his dotting wife and strangers in public.

The mind-boggling tell-all alleges that - at a trendy watering hole in LA LA LAND recently - the former "Saturday Night Fever" star made a blatant pass at a male waiter under the altruistic guise of wanting to "open doors" for the kid who is apparently trying to break into the biz.

Well, on the surface, it appears that the old "casting couch" is alive and well in Hollywood!

Before exiting the chic eatery - and as his wife twiddled-her-thumbs non-plussed across-the-table - John tried to fanagle the telephone number for the up-and-coming (wrong choice of words?) actor.

"Maybe I can help you get a start in film," the aging Lothario (who hangs out in steam rooms at a local gym where he lets it all hang-out) slyly gushed in so many words.

It was pretty much a given that John's overt pass was transparent - enough so - that the other diners supping nearly nearby within earshot (and sight) were aghast.

Couldn't the star have waited 'til Kelly dashed off to the restroom - or headed to the Valet - before lusting after the dude?

In contrast, I crossed paths with a famous actor a few years ago, who exhibited a lot more class (and sensitivity towards his date's feelings) in that regard.

I was in the parking lot at the back of the Globe Theatre one night in full costume - practising my lines before I dashed on stage in Act II - when the star of one of Aaron Spelling's Night-time Soaps trotted out to his parked car with a girlfriend in tow after dining at Hugo's restaurant next door in WeHo.

When our eyes met, it was obvious we were both smitten, but the hottie just gave a wink and moved along (his gal pal none-the-wiser).

After he drove off, I fantasized a bit about what may-have-been.

Then - lo & behold - he returned out-of-the-blue a short while later alone!

"I forgot my credit card," he grinned, as he hopped out of his pricey auto and dashed into the restaurant to allegedly retrieve it.

A few moments later, when he strolled back into the lot, he made a pass right-off-the-bat.

The impromptu clinch was as thrilling (and wild) as a romantic scene in a screwball comedy feature!

Without a moment's hesitation, we hopped into the front seat of my car excitedly, and started to fool around (as best we could under the passionate circumstances).

You see - I was hindered by the fact - I was attired in stockings and lace-up-boots to the knee.

Uh-huh!

I was performing in a period piece - EDWARD III (at the Globe Theatre) - and in full costume!

And, to make matters more maddening, I was required to trot on stage in about ten minutes flat for  my first entrance of the evening.

Needless to say, it was the quickie of all time, even if I do say so myself.

Although the handsome actor (Timothy Patrick Murphy) passed away a few years ago - memories of our brief encounter - often loom large in my dusty old memories (and still make my heart go pitter-patter).

Heh, John, you need to be a little more creative, eh?

Otherwise, the tongues will be wagging all over the town - you'll be on the front page of the trashy Nataional
Enquirer - and Kelly will be filing for divorce.

And, you thought Charlie Sheen was on a slippery slope to hell!

Final parting advice?

Stop being led around by your co**, John, it may get 'ya into serious trouble one of these days.

Amen!

Farrah Fawcett...passes to spirit. Rare Cancer takes life at age 62.

Today, the world mourns the loss of a fine talent.

Farrah Fawcett, age 62, passed to spirit after a long battle with a rare cancer early this morning.

Known for her gorgeous mane of lustrous hair, a smile a mile wide, and a slight hint of vulnerability, the former Charlie Angel's epitomized an era that was bold and brassy and often pushed the limits of jiggle TV, of which she was a formidable part in the 70's.

Just the other day, when I spied the infamous poster of Farrah in a window at "Baby Jane" memorabilia shop in West Hollywood, the image floated up memories of teenage boys - their hearts all-a-flutter over an "it" girl poster that packed a passionate wallop - and a fan base that was the envy of any aspiring (or established) star in Tinseltown.

Even still, it was tough getting some respect.

Although Ms. Fawcett was often written off as as a piece of fluff by power-brokers who could make or break a career in Hollywood's ever-elusive dream factory, the perky blond with the infectious personality remained undaunted and hung in there.

Undoubtedly, it was the charismatic beauty's stellar performance in the thought-provoking drama - "Burning Bed" - that triggered a remarkable turning point in her career.

And, there was no looking back, after that.

Ferrah Leni Fawcett was born in Corpus Christi, Tex., on Feb. 2, 1947.

While attending University in that great state, she got the acting bug, and consequently moved to the West Coast to carve a career out for herself in the thriving film & television industry.

Farrah's first money-making assignments arrived in the form of lucrative commercial spots - which not only thrust the fresh-faced beauty into the glare of the spotlight which gobbled her up - but rustled up enough cash to keep the wolves away from her front door.

Producer Aaron Spelling's eye for for talent catapulted Farrah into superstardom when he cast her in a plum break-out role as one of Charlie's Angels in the tongue-and-cheek hit detective show (which scored big with audiences around the country back in the 70's).

But, it was her personal life that garnered the most attention, especially after she tied the knot with actor Lee Majors - another American Icon - who snagged the limelight briefly when he stepped into the indestructible shoes of the - "Six Million Dollar Man" - and scored big in ratings heaven for the network.

A second marriage to former soap star Ryan O'Neil, was explosive, to say the least.

The on-again off-again romance continued right up to the final hour when it was announced just a couple of days ago that the former lovers would take their vows at the altar once again in the near future.

Unfortunately, fate intervened when Ms. Fawcett succumbed to a mysterious illness that not only cut her down in what some would say was the prime of life, but resulted in a heated debate and controversy over privacy rights issues.

Angered at the tabloid press for disclosing her life-threatening illness to the public (she would have preferred - instead - to face the final curtain with a modicum of dignity and grace) Farrah was forced to take matters into her own hands.

With the kind assistance of long-time friend, Alana Stewart, Ms. Fawcett thumbed her nose at the ambulance-chasers and cruel gossip mongers - and proceeded to document the events with signature style - by virtue of an insightful thought-provoking documentary she helmed.

It was an extraordinary move on her part.

But, as the saying goes, extraordinary events often require extraordinary measures.

Farrah Fawcett is survived by a loving tight-knit family - father James - and one son, Redmond James Fawcett O’Neal.

Heather Locklear...DUI bust reports conflict! Prescription drugs, booze, or...?

The morning paper was full of jolts and surprises.

Heather Locklear, one of Aaron Spelling's little darlings (Dynasty), was busted for an alleged problem manipulating her vehicle on the mean streets of Montecito (!).

A witness allegedly spied the svelte beauty stumble in and out of her vehicle - at which point - she revved up the engine and drove off in rhythmic zig-zags across a couple of lanes of traffic.

Concerned about her welfare, an eye-witness to the spectacle, put in an urgent call to the local police and proceeded to surreptitiously follow the wild-eyed actress.

When the police arrived on the scene, Locklear's car was parked haphazardly, and partially blocking State Route 192.

This is where it gets tricky.

In one news flash on the networks, it was reported that Ms. Locklear was suspected of driving under the influence of prescription drugs, and summarily arrested and charged for the offense.

In that alert, it was duly noted that the perky celebrity had been diagnosed with depression earlier this year, which led the door wide-open to speculation.

Trouble at home?

Meanwhile, a morning daily was inclined to report that the arrest was due to a DUI, that may have been alchohol-related.

Judging from the accounts - Law Enforcement sobriety tests on the scene and the testimony of the other driver - Ms. Locklear was obviously not under the influence of alcohol or prescription drugs alone.

A lethal mix of drugs - unknown at this juncture - would most certainly account for the whoozey nature of her lost bearings.

Once again - I have to seriously question why celebrities (who can obviously afford the luxuries of an uppercrust lifestyle) don't just leave the car parked when they're inebriated or suffering from an overdose of ingested drug "stuffs".

Surely, funds were not the issue?

Or - like many self-deluded celebs in the past - was Ms. Locklear foolishly under the mistaken impression that she was not sloppy drunk or incapable of maneuvering her vehicle by herself?

Of course, it is wholly possible someone slipped something into her drink.

Notwithstanding - that "good Samaritan" who called the cops raised an eyebrow.

A jealous person out to embarrass Ms. Locklear in public?

A good citizen would have approached the star - and offered her assistance - don't you think?

Sounds like a bizarre plot twist in one of Mr. Spelling's night-time pot-boilers, doesn't it?

Curious!

And, you thought maneuvering a surfboard was tricky...
