St. Mary's Medical Center...Hospital mixes up blood samples! Dr. Steven Ho & Dr.Jeffry Dayton malpractice!

  • Patients at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach were quite shocked and taken aback when a nurse in the Emergency Care Unit  reported that their blood samples tested positive for marijuana.

    How could that be?

One startled patient informed personnel right away that there was a gross error!

"I haven't smoked any marijuana in over twenty years!"

When a patient in the next bed was overheard confiding to a Nurse that he smoked one or two joints a day, it was obvious to the individual who allegedly tested positive, what occurred behind-the-scenes.

The technician who drew the blood - and tagged the samples after-the-fact for processing - must have switched the blood samples by mistake!

Instead of investigating the issue to rectify the error, the Nurse in charge of the patient refused to open up an investigation, or even strike the erroneous blood test from the patient;s medical file.

In fact, when the patient asked for the name of the President of St. Mary's Medical Center so they could file a complaint, the staff in the emergency department claimed they did not know the individual's name.

And, get this, they denied having any knowledge of any contact information for the head of the Hospital they were in the employ of!

It not only stretches one's credulity, but smacks of an outright cover-up, undertaken in a deceitful and dishonest effort to mitigate damages arising from the negligent acts of the employees at St. Mary's in Long Beach which rose to the level of malpractice.

Unfortunately, there are other glaring problems at the hospital which warrant a review.

Patients have complained that on occasion they were placed on NPO (food restrictions which lasted two days or longer in some instances) pending medical procedures to be performed at the facility.

Once the NPO status was lifted, however, nurses neglected to update the computers; consequently, patients were left hungry until the glitch in the hospital's procedures was resolved.

In one instant case, a Nurse served a dinner after the patient brought the problem to the employee's attention. However, instead of delivering a hot meal with nutriional value after the forced two-day fast, the incompetent technician threw together a cold sandwich with a small container of cold juice.

In addition, patients have been forced to endure hardships because quite a few of the Nurses don't speak fluent English.

Patients complain that there is a communication problem at this hospital which has continued to be unresolved.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, it should be noted for the record, that St. Mary's has hired a few quack doctors bent on running up huge charges for services rendered, who have demonstrated their lack of concern for the safety and well-being of their patients.

Reports have filtered out that once doctors at St. Mary's have billed insurance carriers to the max, they have proceeded to discharge patients in spite of the fact the individuals are still suffering pain and hospital doctors have neglected to properly diagnose and treat their patients.

Dr. Steven Ho is a particularly bad offender in this regard.

His negligence rises to the level of malpractice which warrants disciplinary action in fact.

For good reason, I have issued this consumer alert, to warn residents in the neighboring communities to avoid St. Mary's Medical Center like the plague.

Barack Obama...Medical Marijuana protesters to confront President tomorrow! St. Regis! San Francisco!

When President Obama slips out of a limo purring curbside to attend a "Breakfast with the President" soiree bright-and-early tomorrow in downtown San Francisco there will be a rag-tag gang of protesters from Americans For Safe Access (ASA) on hand to demand that the President fulfill a promise to guarantee all "Patient Rights" in respect to the compassionate use of Medical Marijuana.

In spite of Obama's insistence - that the DEA Military-style raids on pot dispensaries would cease - they have persisted in recent days!

Tattler readers may recall that I attended and reported on street protests in the past:

At this point, the mantra should be:

We're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore!

"It's time we held the President accountable for his broken promise," a spokesperson informed me earlier this afternoon in a hasty press notice that was fired off by e-mail from ASA Headquarters.

The vocal activists are going to turn-out tomorrow - in full force - in front of the St. Regis Hotel.

"This is the time to pull our community together, express our displeasure with Obama's lack of regard for our community, and demand that he live up to his promises."

Governor Schwarzenegger...equipped to handle gay nupitals! Licenses in stock!

California is "well-equipped" to perform gay nupitals, according to Governor Schwarzenegger, in response to a directive put forth by a Federal Court on Wednesday in respect to the thorny issue of same-sex marriages in California.

    Huh?

When Judge Vaughn Walker overturned the ban on gay marriages, Protect Marriage - an appellant in the proceeding - argued that permitting gay nuptials at this stage of the legal proceedings would be an administrative hardship for the state because higher courts they have appealed to could later invalidate the marriages.

So, the obvious reaction was forthcoming from the Court.

    Would it be a hardship?

Quick on the uptake - though initially reluctant to jump into the fray - the Governor fired off his response (with a touch of villainous glee, I expect).

"As the Court has pointed out, California already issued 18,000 marriage licenses to same-sex couples (before the ban was imposed by virtue of Prop 8) without suffering any resulting harm," Schwarzenegger's office eloquently noted in their written arguments to U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker.

"Government officials can resume issuing such licenses without administrative delay or difficulty."

If my memory serves me well, though, didn't ARNOLD actually veto a bill in recent years which would have ushered California out of the dark ages and into a golden era of equality for all (straight and gay) in respect to tying-of-the-knot ceremonies down at City Hall?

So why - pray tell - has the Governor now chosen to dust off his own tuxedo and take a stand for the inalienable Constitutional rights of same-sex couples?

An upcoming election, dahlinks, of course!

    OMG!

And, not to forget, that the racks in San Francisco and West Hollywood are well-stocked with dozens of tuxedos in - delicious plum, vivid sky blue, rich shades of wine, and pristine white (for the virgins in the crowd) too.

    Patent leather shoes, penny loafers?

No problem, will that be cash or Visa, Sirs?

In tony Beverly Hills, there will also be a myriad of fashion accessories to scoop up, too: rainbow cravats, silk pocket puffs, ivory gold-trimmed cuff-links (with matching studs (!), and more ruffled silk shirts in a dizzying array of pastel colors than you can shake a big stick at (wink wink)

    Downright spiffy, you girly-man, you!

If we could only sort out the snags in medical marijuana!

Medical Marijuana...act now to save jobs. Support AB 2279!

This week, the California Senate will vote on an ASA-sponsored bill that will establish employment rights for hundreds of thousands of medical cannabis patients throughout California.

AB 2279, which has already passed the State Assembly, has the support of three labor unions representing nearly one million workers in California.

The new bill, sponsored by Assembly Member Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), will negate a recent California Supreme Court ruling, which stated that employers can fire workers just for being legal medical cannabis patients, legitimizing job discrimination for seriously ill Californians.

AB 2279 aims to protect patients who strive to be productive members of society.

But, according to organizers at Americans for Safe Access, it has come to "crunch time".

The advocates for compassionate use of Medical Marijuana don't have a tally verifying which way all the Senators intend to vote on this explosive subject.

And, it is imperative that some action be taken, since the bill may come up for a vote in the next few days.

Therefore, ASA is urging that all supporters of AB 2279 get actively involved.

ASA recommends that residents of California call or e-mail State Senators right away and urge that they pledge their support for medical cannabis patients right to work pursuant to AB 2279.
